I started watching rugby a few months ago and I've got to say that your videos are pure gold. They're very important to learn more about classic games, performances and players
Sorry can we just talk about Tipuric at 1:48 please? Takes the kick, breaks the tackle, drops the ball onto his foot from one hand without breaking stride, outpaces basically the while backline and then casually gathers and scores. And makes it look so, so easy.
I played as a prop forward for 17 years , and i would occasionally kick for touch . My best one was when i had it in the opposition half and found the touch line 5 meters out
@@_pluq9 😂😂 six nations player of the tournament slip your mind😂 take your welsh hat for a minute you’re not seriously saying tipuric is on Watsons level

Great vid. I'd have included Richie McCaw and John Smit too, setting up tries for Conrad Smith and Victor Matfield, respectively, with grubber kicks. Also Scott Higginbotham against Samoa for Matt Giteau. Great vid anyway!
I can speak from experience here as a forward myself, I once kicked the ball down field quite a fair bit, and my coach yelled form the side line and I quote “why did you kick the f***king ball you f***ing idiot, you’re a flanker not a centre” but what a kick it was
Question: Parling's funny attempt at a grubber at 6:27 is given as a knock-on because the ball hits the floor before he kicks it. Understandable. But it's a pretty clean half volley, he kicks it literally as it hits the floor, like a football really. But what's the difference between that and a drop goal, which if it falls short, is a play on? Does the ref just decide if it's an attempted drop goal or not? Is there a steadfast rule? Just wondering.
@@AndrewDavidForde So the ref just decides? Seems ambiguous. I think I just like the weird rugby law loopholes, and yearn for more out of the box thinking (eg Italy Vs England)
Some forwards need to work on their kicking. But controversial opinion: I've always thought the try scorer should attempt the conversion. Clearly some can kick it the distance.
It's the equivalent of a video of goalkeepers scoring goals in that it's not in their job description. Look at the shape of many of the players involved, along with their ungainly techniques.

Tips oozes talent. He makes the chip-chase look easy. There's many backs who can't pull it off like he does.

Great to see so much of the great Keith Wood in another great compilation. Great stuff Andrew. 👍

Keith Wood 💪🏻
He wanted to be a fullback so badly
yes - never fails to bring a smile to your face - wish there were more like him playing now
He would challenge rob kearney anyway lad
The Irish players have a big advantage, most grow up playing Gaelic football where you learn to kick with both feet and catch high balls as well
What about argies or italians? MOST POPULAT SPORT THERE... whether you know what I mean fellow ( ⚽️ )
@@guiverno1984yes but in Gaelic football you learn too kick out of your hands which would be more common in rugby
Gethin Jenkins, an outside centre trapped in a prop's body.
Should have included the Keith Wood kick in the lions 2nd test which eventually led to the series winning drop goal

Please make more forwards kicking videos, I would also recommend Thomas Waldrom kicks with it
Always a good day when Andrew Forde posts
Great video. Thanks for making it.
Have you ever thought about putting together a compilation of players playing out of position?
Zinzans is still the best!

I believe with a drop goal it has to be a genuine attempt so in that instance it would be regarded as a knock on

Is that Tipuric at around the 1:50 mark?
Yes
