36:24 This. This scene chills me to the core. Why? Because every other time we see the killing curse used in this universe, death is instant for the victim. The only occasional after effects being a sigh of escaping breath, or a muscle twitch. I seem to be the only one who loved ranrok a lot as a villian. He was badass too. He becomes especially more interesting if you know his backstory which can be Missed but if you do owland or whoever that is and rescue him in his quest. Then you can ask him an optional dialogue about what he heard and he explains ranrok's lore as why he is evil that when he was young he went to a wizard and respected him. When the wizard's wand fell to the ground he tried to pick it up for him but he was frustrated and beat ranrok nearly to death. You can feel bad for him after that. As they say every villian has a tragic backstory
He also explains that Ranrok has a strong love of dragons, which is why he tried to ingratiate himself with the wizard in question. It would also probably explain why he turns into a dragon after absorbing the repository’s power, being magically imbued strands of emotion and all

I'm a Ravenclaw. Ominus sounds like Draco Malfoy. He said he's not afraid to exploit HIS FATHER'S connections to the school. His father will probably hear about this. Lol.
I beat Hogwarts Legacy recently 35 hours on my ps5 I loved the story, writing, gameplay, music, spells, Open world, puzzles, emotional moments, and the ending I liked the classes as well and the talent points. I give Hogwarts Legacy a 10/10 I want a sequel on current gen consoles only and I love the main Harry Potter movies and books.
I think it's telling that a channel exclusively focused on the positive has little positive to say about the core gameplay and game design. It's a great Harry Potter experience, but a fairly mediocre video game. Most of the praise this game is getting is either Harry Potter fans fairly enjoying it as a just a way to BE in the Harry Potter world, no judgement, I've put hundreds of hours into Star Wars the Old Republic, also a mediocre game on the face of it, for what it provides in that regard. and it does truly excel in that regard. a few years ago, I would have done the same here, but my love for the Harry Potter franchise faded fast subsequent to my fading positive feeling for its author, I've made the choice not to purchase Harry Potter products for that reason, because JK Rowling may be rich regardless, but I won't contribute to it. before I get a bunch of pissy replies, I also wouldn't judge anyone who does buy it, ethical consumption needs to be an individual choice, there are things that I consume sans ethics, and maybe that makes me a hypocrite, but I personally believe people can only fight so many battles and the choices of which ones to fight come down to the individual, subsequently, with some extreme exceptions I think it's wrong to hold other people to ethical consumption standards they're likely abstaining from unethical things that I consume in battles that they deem important and I deem less so. the other side of the praise for the game (the less prevalent side) is more insidious, this partisan "stan" culture where if the people you dislike, dislike something, you suddenly start praising it, and vice versa,. the discussion around Hogwarts Legacy often shifts so quickly away from the game itself that it's astonishing, 90% of the conversations concerning the game.concern ethical consumption, the harassment of streamers, the harrassment of the trans community, etc. it's genuinely remarkable how little I've actually seen the gameplay or design philosophy being spoken about because that split has come to dominate the game's footprint. I don't really think this game will be widely, fondly remembered as a game in a few years time, but it will definitely have its hardcore Potter fans for a lot, lot longer than that.
I completely agree with your points on this being a mediocre game. In fact, I'd go one further and say the game is actively bad. My main thing going into the game was 'If this wasn't a HP game would I still be playing it' and after about 10hrs of gameplay the answer was a hard no
You put my thoughts into words better than I could. I would describe this game the same way I describe basically anything harry potter. It's a very mediocre and often bad story, normally not told very well. But it's in an incredibly fun world to think about and explore. The saving grace of this game is that the world feels interesting to explore. If it didn't have that people would have given up so fast
1:30 the reason the carriage didn't show the Thestrals is because they are only visible to those who have seen death and understood it, which is why they become visible after that dude was killed in the dragon attack
7:40 But that’s just it if you have a wizarding world account it will literally ask you as you start up the main menu if you’d like to sign in so the quizzes that you took online to determine your wand and Hogwarts house will be valid. I answered honestly so when my choices determined my position I agreed to have my first playthrough be as myself. I had originally intended to be a good guy Slytherin. But the test proved I was a Gryffindor, with an Elder Wood wand, 13 1/4 inches, with a phoenix feather core.
To your co-op game comment: apparently, someone is already working on a mod for the pc version to add co-op into the game. While I've never played this, I gotta admit, it does look like it'd lend itself to it.
@GamingWins One of my favorite aspects about the Gear is that you can equip whatever gear you want to boost your level but keep the appearance of your favorite Gear designs. More games need to have that feature!
RE: the house choice. I don't need a slytherin who would shoot first when I'm a ravenclaw who wouldn't be in that situation in the first place due to having plans and contingencies.
I’m gonna have to get this game I loved the movies and the books (both are amazing but books are better in my opinion for how many details they can have) definitely can’t wait to be sorted
in the beginning, the carriage that is used to bring you to hogwarts isn’t just a magical flying carriage, it’s being pulled by Thestrials, but since you don’t witness death until the dragon kills the other professor in the cart with you and fig, your character then sees the thestrials pulling the carriage. lol it’s a clever point i don’t think alotta people caught.
I think alot of the complaints will be ironed out for the sequel, since its likely to be a next gen only thing. But for a first attempt i loved this game and it was insanely solid
Havent had much to do with HP franchise since i finished watching the movies a while ago but seeing gameplay of this game.....this looks really fun and i might just get it when i can get the money for it.
Just got done with this game for the first time, I gotta say, it's one helluva ride. I played a Slytherin based off me, name and all. I played him like the most hippee and druid-esque snake wizard possible. My constant outfit was Dragonhide herbologists gloves, beast rescuers robes, dark herbologists hat, bookish half trim glasses, woodland ensemble, no scarf. I prioritized beast taming, herbology, and potions making, though admittedly, I hardly used them. Made fairly extensive use of combat plants because the cabbages are awesome when you some herbologists traits on multiple gear slots. I think my favorite spell was diffindo the cutting one. I love the simplicity of the controls it feels like I'm playing a ps3 controls but in a good way. My favorite part of combat was when I used protego because the core upgrades for protego make you feel like a god, In essence It feels pretty wizard😎 Flying was a bit wonky at first, but after some adjustment, the flying is great. Especially on hippogriffs because that also feels wizard. By the end of the game I was the 5th year gentlemen hedge mage of the woods or the later on in his adult as the English Oak Druid. This makes me actually want to try to make a Harry Potter d&d game. First thing to do. Fuck spell slots, you only need a wand, go wild. Loved this game man it felt awesome, the early game was a bit of a drag until it gained gas and just got better and better as it went. Definitely do all the available side quests first. I wanna do a dickhead Gryffindor run next specializing in curses.
Yes, Slytherin is best. After playing as a Slytherin and then starting a new game as a Hufflepuff, it feels like this game favours Slytherin over the other houses. Which I, of course, have no problem with. Or maybe I am just obsessed with Sebastian and Ominis.
Okay so I'm going to disagree with the Fig death scene. CAUSE THAT'S ONLY 1 WAY HIS DEATH IS HANDLED. He has multiple death scenes depending on character choices.
Took me a while to finish the story as I didn’t have much free time, but seeing as I finished it last night, I thought I’d fulfill a month old promise of finally watching this gamingwins video! 😅

Fun fact Professor Hecat isn’t as old as she seems since she says that she attended school at the same time as Headmaster Black. It’s alluded to that she worked on experimental time based magic as an Unspeakable in the Department of Mysteries. Perhaps she worked on inventing or enhancing Time Turners.
anyone else notice that the voice order audio constantly seems to have like a high pass filter that keeps moving in and out? Sometimes when he talks he sounds like he's "right up on the mic" and then he just starts to move further away and then back up?
I love this game. It has allowed me to (sort of) live all the moments I wanted to as a child when I watched the movies with my family. It has even motivated me to study harder! 3:57 my same reaction when throwing enemies against a rock or to a cliff and hearing them die instantly as they crash.
8:00, technically all houses are good in their own way. And yes Slytherin are misunderstood. My house is Ravenclaw. And I think it is a perfect match for me.
I'm from the mid-west and love winter. If im cold can just put some long clothes on or curl up under another blanket. Theres only so many layers you can take off in summer and still too hot but not a limit on adding layers.
How about a Ravenclaw that would have known to get around around the danger or how to expel it before the fighting even occurred. Who am I kidding I’d fight just to show off all the advanced spells I know
Wait... you removed a win because of Fig's death but your choice is why you got the abrupt death rather than the other ending. This isn't cinamasins but I'm going to add a sin for that ;)
i think my personal favorite bit of music was the solemn choir that plays at night. every time i heard it, i stopped to take it in with the ambiance of the dark, abandoned hallways. my favorite bit of diegetic music was the absolute rager thrown by the hallways of musician portraits in the faculty wing
Slitherin got screwed over by the timeframe. There'd just been a prominent dark wizard who himself came out of Slitherin and built his early power base while still in school, so, yeah, a whole lot of Slitherins just recently went bad and their kids are now entering school like the war heros' kids are... That's something I like in Hogwarts Legacy. The current and recent conflicts have been against nonhumans, so yeah theres a little dark slant to the house but it's not full of proud kids of former Nazis like it was during Harry Potter.
I have never seen your content before and I have not finished your video yet, but I just got past your ad and have just become a subscriber. Great job!
Can we agree that people who get Ravenclaw on those house quizzes are the same people who get Cabin 6 for the Camp Half-Blood Cabin quizzes? (I say that as someone who did and, of all the Ravenclaws I know, all of them are also Cabin 6 (the Athena Cabin))

I wasn't the biggest fan of the game but one thing I will say is that they absolutely nailed the Harry Potter world. The biggest complaints I see and I have are not for getting any of that wrong. But what could they could have done more with it and how it as a game could have been improved bc that was generally lackluster (imo it should have been a lot smaller with more depth). But it's an impressive feat to take a beloved franchise and make something new out of it that doesn't piss off the fans for inaccuracies or bad adaptation; it does feel like you're in the books or movies. I see no one saying it's a bad Harry Potter game, just disagreements if it's a good game in general or not. So well done devs.

Anyone else forget about threstral lore? My dumb ass thought my game was bugged when the carriage took off
I'm a Ravenclaw.
At some point you mentioned Bully and I think it’d be great if you did a “Everything GREAT about Bully”
I think it's telling that a channel exclusively focused on the positive has little positive to say about the core gameplay and game design.
It's a great Harry Potter experience, but a fairly mediocre video game.
Most of the praise this game is getting is either Harry Potter fans fairly enjoying it as a just a way to BE in the Harry Potter world, no judgement, I've put hundreds of hours into Star Wars the Old Republic, also a mediocre game on the face of it, for what it provides in that regard. and it does truly excel in that regard.
a few years ago, I would have done the same here, but my love for the Harry Potter franchise faded fast subsequent to my fading positive feeling for its author, I've made the choice not to purchase Harry Potter products for that reason, because JK Rowling may be rich regardless, but I won't contribute to it. before I get a bunch of pissy replies, I also wouldn't judge anyone who does buy it,
ethical consumption needs to be an individual choice, there are things that I consume sans ethics, and maybe that makes me a hypocrite, but I personally believe people can only fight so many battles and the choices of which ones to fight come down to the individual, subsequently, with some extreme exceptions I think it's wrong to hold other people to ethical consumption standards they're likely abstaining from unethical things that I consume in battles that they deem important and I deem less so.
the other side of the praise for the game (the less prevalent side) is more insidious, this partisan "stan" culture where if the people you dislike, dislike something, you suddenly start praising it, and vice versa,. the discussion around Hogwarts Legacy often shifts so quickly away from the game itself that it's astonishing, 90% of the conversations concerning the game.concern ethical consumption, the harassment of streamers, the harrassment of the trans community, etc.
it's genuinely remarkable how little I've actually seen the gameplay or design philosophy being spoken about because that split has come to dominate the game's footprint.
I don't really think this game will be widely, fondly remembered as a game in a few years time, but it will definitely have its hardcore Potter fans for a lot, lot longer than that.
Based
I completely agree with your points on this being a mediocre game. In fact, I'd go one further and say the game is actively bad.
My main thing going into the game was 'If this wasn't a HP game would I still be playing it' and after about 10hrs of gameplay the answer was a hard no
@@thomasbarlow5246 You know, your rationale is actually fair. I probably wouldn’t play this game if it weren’t HP. Thanks for the perspective!
Logical flawless logical
1:30 the reason the carriage didn't show the Thestrals is because they are only visible to those who have seen death and understood it, which is why they become visible after that dude was killed in the dragon attack
nvm lol
Granted when Bakar used the killing curse it was probably not unforgivable if it was I'd imagine they would all be like wtf
22:49 love the Skyrim reference, hope Skyrim comes soon
The developers knew hardly anyone would pick Hufflepuff, so they get to go to Azkaban and get the 2nd coolest Common Room.
Closest to the beer
33:55 It's funny that this is the most personality the player character has in the entire game
I’m gonna have to get this game I loved the movies and the books (both are amazing but books are better in my opinion for how many details they can have) definitely can’t wait to be sorted
i was so entirely focused on the chaos during that dragon attack cutscene at the beginning that i never noticed he didnt use a wand to cast
If simping for Prof garlick is wrong, I don't wanna be right
in the beginning, the carriage that is used to bring you to hogwarts isn’t just a magical flying carriage, it’s being pulled by Thestrials, but since you don’t witness death until the dragon kills the other professor in the cart with you and fig, your character then sees the thestrials pulling the carriage. lol it’s a clever point i don’t think alotta people caught.
@@tameston5467 What are you doing?
@@tameston5467 lol 💀
@@tameston5467what are you excited for?
One AMAZING side quest for hufflpuffs is visiting Azkaban! It really shows how much that place is a hell for any prisoner
My favorite part of combat was when I used protego because the core upgrades for protego make you feel like a god,
In essence
It feels pretty wizard😎
Flying was a bit wonky at first, but after some adjustment, the flying is great.
Same. We got to let everyone know that Slytherins are not the bad guys! (Most of them, anyway)
Okay so I'm going to disagree with the Fig death scene. CAUSE THAT'S ONLY 1 WAY HIS DEATH IS HANDLED. He has multiple death scenes depending on character choices.
Teasing newcomers about the pool thats not there in high school?
Oh, you mean the one on the roof right? "DONT CLOSE THE .... DOOR....."
Took me a while to finish the story as I didn’t have much free time, but seeing as I finished it last night, I thought I’d fulfill a month old promise of finally watching this gamingwins video! 😅
It makes sense that theres no students in the final scene as after all, it is a full fledge battle against an open rebellion lol
*watching video*
*chuckle here, chuckle there*
- Kamahameha joke plays
*Almost drowns laptop in bathtub from laughing so hard*.......
*Continues watching, with caution*
2:38 awww kitten message… till kittens mood changes.
Hope your channels keeps growing. Keep it up
Mr Moon isn't a professor, he is the Gameskeeper
We get that VR Harry Potter game where you have to speak where you want to go into the flu flame
Everyone: Professor Garlic's bedroom!
9:10 funnily enough there is a game like that it’s called In Verbis Virtus
The only reason my character is in Hufflepuf is because he's my OC and I wanted to visit Azkaban during the Jackdaw quest
Amazing work! Love your channel!
8:06 fight me, I'm a Ravenclaw and proud ca caw mf
The hallows trial was not needed. But “its the magical world, we NEED A CONNECTION TO THE HALLOWS”
Gryffindor! Ever since I was a kid I've wanted to see the gryffindor common room
The one common room they show in six movies?
@@awesomness36 i think they meant in its entirety
8:00, technically all houses are good in their own way. And yes Slytherin are misunderstood.
My house is Ravenclaw. And I think it is a perfect match for me.
Also I'm not gonna lie, I cracked HARD when you imitated voldemort yelling AVADA KEDA-
I'm from the mid-west and love winter. If im cold can just put some long clothes on or curl up under another blanket. Theres only so many layers you can take off in summer and still too hot but not a limit on adding layers.
14:56 new spell the KAMEHAMEHA
pro tip: if you want to learn to avada kadavra complete sebastian sallows questline
7:49 between slytherin or gryffindor i chose hufflepuff because i can tickle the pear and eat all that yummy house elf food whenever i want
At 36:08 did anyone else think the music sounded similar to how to train your dragon’s test flight
As a fellow slytherin I must say: Best slytherin defense ever
Slitherin got screwed over by the timeframe. There'd just been a prominent dark wizard who himself came out of Slitherin and built his early power base while still in school, so, yeah, a whole lot of Slitherins just recently went bad and their kids are now entering school like the war heros' kids are...
That's something I like in Hogwarts Legacy. The current and recent conflicts have been against nonhumans, so yeah theres a little dark slant to the house but it's not full of proud kids of former Nazis like it was during Harry Potter.
I was doing so much side questing, I was level 19 when I finally got to the skill points
2:35 And if you order now in the next 30 minutes, we will send you a professional cat massager for FREE!

22:43 Is that a Critical Role reference, or am I off the mark?
We Hufflepuffs are just steps away from the kitchens, have the most comfy common room, and (*spoiler in case you didn't choose this house*) you get to go to Azkaban as part of a quest.
I was going to watch it normally, BUT IT'S ON! I'LL DEFEND MY HUFFLEPUFF UNTIL DEATH!
I thought that to get the best ending you couldn't get any unforgivable curses... it turned out to be options on the last quest.
