I agree. I own The Mirror on DVD and it is a beautiful film, wonderfully expressive and arthouse. I've seen it maybe 3 times so far... I have yet to beat Trier's 20-30 lmao
@@Sunny_C It's kind of hard to describe, but if it helps you understand or enjoy it I will try. Firstly I admire Tarkovsky as an artist a lot and the Mirror, along with his other films from the 70s (Solaris and Stalker,) are the pinnacle of his artistic career. Secondly, as someone who grew up in the city but who spent a lot of time in the countryside as a child I could empathize with the feeling of childhood memories in the forest. I think the Mirror is an acquired taste but I think the key to understanding it is to realize you can't, if that makes any sense
@@s.a.l.1974 Right. Thanks. I enjoy his visual style & I like Solaris & Stalker a lot, but I guess you're right about it being not fully understandable. I think if I'd watch it again, knowing that I can't, it would become more enjoyable to watch.
@@Sunny_C Maybe the reason it was more immediate for me is because I grew up in a rural location in Setbia, that looks similar to the ones in the film. Childhood/Nostalgia and nature, the little "unimportant", specific things in nature are filmed, explored in such depth in the film and it was highly relatable and impactful emotionally for me.

I rented it about a little less than a year ago and watched twice and each time amazed me in every way
@@s.a.l.1974 What do you like about The Mirror? I saw it but I don't think I really get it...
