Yes! That's what I've been waiting for. Since I've got no time to play it's always god to see someone else do that. Another great job from you. Wish you all well.
Great video and looks like a fun game that isn’t too complicated to learn quickly. A lot of pieces/markers to get used to though. Also not to nitpick, and it’s on the game designer but when you were explaining/demonstrating tacking, you actually jibed. You tack through the wind so the bow goes through irons and the windward side changes, but during a jibe the wind stays on the same side. It obviously doesn’t make much of a difference but I think it could be a good skill check to either tack, jibe, or stop and “anchor”.
Thanks for the clarification on tack/jib. Some parts of the rulebook are a little vagueeand it could probably use an FAQ but so far I'm really enjoying it.
Great job in explaining and bringing concrete examples, could please link the other black Seas video you made in the description ? thank you and keep on!
Thank you very much, i'm currently traduicing the rules in french for my gaming association, and it helps with the few questions i had about the wording of the rules (about collisions and boarding for exemple. )
That was a great breakdown of the essentials. I’m about to get my first two ships and the rule book in the mail this coming week. Very interested in seeing how they play the USS Constitution and the USS Essex
Have you seen the new game called king of war armada.. it is based on black sails with some small changes. Preorder is now and comes out in November. It’s by Mantic games. It’s Black sail in a fantasy setting with plastic ships.
I've seen it. I'm kinda torn though. Some ships look good, others eh, reminds me of Man-o-War and the Fantasy game that Spartan Games put out, name escapes me. On the other side I'm really enjoying Black Seas... so maybe?
I wish I could but I really don't know anything about Oak and Iron. I guess it could be what time period interests you the most. O&I covers 1650-1750 and Black Seas covers 1770-1830.
I know you are a historical gamer but just out of curiosity have you heard about Kings Of War: Armada yet? If so are you interested in it? The rules are based on this game with a fantasy twist to it. The ships look absolutely beautiful with the sails cast in resin so no more gluing the sails on or messing with thread. The first 2 factions are humans and orcs to release in November and undead and dwarves to be released in January.
I saw the release video, looks interesting. Don't think I will get into it though unless they send me a review copy. Some of the ships look cool, personally I thought the dwarves were looking a little underwhelming. I've don't so many fantasy base naval games and they just seem to all die off. Man-o War, the Spartan games one, (I cant even remember that one.), etc.
@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall this game is more detail, g&g kinda more simplistics . likes, instead of detail of gun number the data only show class/combat rating without detail whatsoever so all galleon rated 5, all galley rated 3 or something like that...which is probably make it more suitable for earlier pre ship of the line era since most ships back then are more mass produced-- ottoman at lepanto have 270+ galleons and those mostly have very similar specs..
Nice video. Timely too seeing as I was considering this or Victory at Sea. This certainly seems to have a lot more to it and a lot more character, VaS looks a bit dull.
@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall Yes, I watched a gameplay video, just looked like move the ships in an direction you want then roll dice until one sinks :(
Please don’t get me wrong I’m not nit picking just helping . You didn’t explain initial broadside pluses and Musket fire at point blank. It’s always easy to see someone’s mistakes then it’s to see your own.
True for modern ships, but the square-rigged ships featured in this game would have had a hard time sailing at a beam reach. It isn't inaccurate for them to perform better running with the wind.

Thanks! appreciate it! We should have a battle report coming in the next few weeks.
Awesome video! Black seas is such a fun game and the models are beautiful
My partner just got the Master and Commander starter box, thank you very much for this tutorial video. Loving your content!
It would have to go up to 1861-65 to cover the ACW, I think you meant the AWI & FIW.
FIW was 1750's to 1763.
Picked up the boxed set after watching this.
Are you listening, #Warlordgames ? :)
This looks like a really fun game. Looking forward to some battle reports!
New player here, and I really appreciate your patient review of the rules, which are not really clear when you are reading them for the first time!
I still have questions every time I play, so I'm glad i could help!
Great video thank you. Can you confirm who manufactures that battle map please. Thanks.

Hi I created a black seas playlist and we currently are editing our first Black Seas battle report which should be the next Batrep we release.
Well done! Great work guys, keep it up

This game looks so fun. ordering now!

I'm torn between this game and Oak and iron by firelock games. Do you have any thoughts to guide a curious viewer?

@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall I agree, the dwarves looked a little lackluster but I simply fell in love with those Orc ships.
this vs galley&galleon, which better?
Never played that one so I can't tell you, however this game is fun, that's for sure.

Does this game have terrain? Do the collision rules apply to it too? Great video by the way!
It does have rules for terrain and if i remember right it does damage.
Can two ships board at the same time the same enemy ship? I hope there is a painting guide inside the rulebook.
Yes, I believe two ships can board at the same time. The guild is sparse but there. The rigging guide in the rulebook is very helpful though.
Nice video, very clear! Are you planning to do battle reports as well?
you bet! We are scheduled to film one in two weeks.
ive been looking for a pirates game this looks good. question do i have to paint anything or make things, because i hate that. i just want a fun game.
Lots of assembly and painting is required for this game, sorry!
Oak n iron
ACW was in the 1860s

VaS could be interesting but the built in basing is losing me.

'Fire as -she bears- they bear.' They = the guns. It's a mistake in the printed rules.
The sheer amount of double entendres😂

Thanks! I appreciate any input!
I usually spend $30 when doing laundromat
Typhoon
closer to the wind makes no sense. wouldnt it be whoever has the best attitude?
Thanks for the tutorial, now it's clear to me to this game is just a poor copy of Sails of glory.
Who thought of that grand theft auto 4 shit?
American Civil War 1861.....
The American Civil war with in the 1860's...
Sorry, I'm also painting up ACW Ironclads at the same time so I get my wires crossed.
I didn't realize the American Civil War occurred 30 years earlier than the history books claim.
First thing I thought
What a disappointment. Ships sail faster across the wind, not down wind. That completely turns me off.
