The Impossible Route Ep.3 - Bike Packing Across Montana (A Cycling Documentary)
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 2 июн 2024
- Impossible Route ep.3, Glacier to Tetons is a Cycling Documentary that covers a 5 day adventure across the state of Montana. In this episode we bring along the very fast and very capable pro cyclist, Eddie Anderson.
Eddie is an active pro for the team Alpicen Fenix, an Eagle Scout, and a genuine great human. Eddie brings world tour fitness to give context on just how hard the Impossible routes really are.
Jeremiah Bishop, Eddie Anderson, and The Vegan Cyclist embark on a 5 day journey across the unridden dirt roads and trails of Montana. Starting in glacier national park, the 3 ride Canyon gravel bikes packed down with everything they need to survive the trip.
Most of the routes were not accessible by vehicle, so the riders needed to be ready for getting out of sticky situations. This cycling documentary is narrated and edited by Tyler (The Vegan Cyclist) but so much work into this project by so many people.
Travis, who was a rider in ep.2 helped a ton with logistics and filming during the trip. Preston got great still photos, and Josh was a wizard with the main videography. A huge THANK YOU to the team behind this and we hope you enjoy this story.

FAQS:
:Q: What bikes where ridden?
:A: JB & VC rode the Canyon Grizzle and Eddie rode the Canyon Grail
:Q: What size tires were ran?
:A: The crew ran IRC Double Cross 44s
:Q: What was the sleep set up like?
:A: To save on weight, the riders carried as little as possible. VC had a hammock and a light sleeping bag. JB had a sleep pad and a light sleeping bag. And Eddie bright a full on tent and sub zero sleeping bag.
:Q: What did you eat on the rides?
:A: Outside of Flow Formulas in our bottles, the riders had to stick up at the random stores along the route. Each day only had 1 stop for fueling, so high calorie foods were the ticket. JB did have a jet boil so heating up water for freeze dried food was great as well.
:Q: How “REAL” is this? How much do you FAKE the drama?
:A: We don’t fake anything, we ride the ride and let the story play out as it happens. This route had the riders by themselves for most of the day so the safety net of a film crew is rare.

Once again everyone, I can’t put into words how much your support means to not just myself but the team behind these videos. The fact that this series has been received so well has allowed us to start planning for a season 2.
I appreciate you, I really do. This is not meant to be a money making venture, it’s a passion project. But if you thought this was worth a small donation, it goes a long way. Love you, hope you enjoyed.

Love u dawg
Season 2! ...You'll never make it. 🤣jk
Facts
Excellent Tyler.. your an inspiration in life and cycling.. well done and thanks man.. Darren from Ireland 🇮🇪 👏
What bike are your guys now riding and tire set up. The GRIZL or Grail, anything you would change wider tires or or dropper post??? Great story, make me want to go ride.
This is better than a bunch of Netflix docs currently available.
Facts
A streaming service will pick them up soon.
👆 must be good when a pro cyclist comments on your video
@@izzly42 Actually he’s Cavendish… I’m Cavandish… but really I’m Chris.
Ah, I see. That’s funny
Thanks for all the great comments and support! On many occasions this almost didn’t happen! To see this concept come to life is a dream come true!
When you plan a route, you don’t mess around! Every roadie needs a guy like you to push them further than they thought possible. All three of these “IR” videos were harder than the previous one, I never heard you utter even a slight complaint.
You sir, are a legend.
You're a tough one Jeremiah!!
13:22 I grew up north of lake superior hunting, trapping, guiding, sleeping in hammocks, tens and sometimes nothing, year round.
Insulation is exactly how it works in my experience.
The world needs more people like Jeremiah Bishop- lots of positivity.
@@trwilliams22 You clearly don't know what actual positivity looks like. Phrases that are just reinterpretations of "pull your boot straps harder" is not positive.
The way Eddie said “No, don’t leave me” as you guys left him with the mama grizzly had me dying
Eddie should return in the next installment of IR. This is probably one of the best if not the best documentary on gravel riding.
I like that tour.
Nice work Tyler, Jeremiah and Eddie! Great to ride with you for a bit on your Day 1 and share our visions of riding remote roads. Thanks for slowing down to chat! Paul rode 1,200 miles over 24 days before running out of vacation time. He plans to come back next year to continue the GDMBR. I rode solo for 1,400 more miles over 27 more days to reach Antelope Wells. An experience like no other. Unbelievable.
Hey Craig and Paul, this is Mike - San Diego, I was with Gary from IN, and Rich from NY. We rode with you and Paul one day and camped together at Henry's Lake MT, or the next day toward Red Rock (the bar/restaurant where we camped on the lawn). I made it down to Steamboat Springs, CO on the gdmbr, I might finish the rest to NM this summer. Happy trails, hope you guys are well.
@@Mike-vd2qt Great to hear from you, Mike! We both enjoyed riding and camping with you "Three Amigos." Paul Brasby also plans to return to the GDMBR this July to ride from Rawlins to Antelope Wells with some other friends. You can probably connect better with him (and me) on FaceBook. Have fun!
Eddie was a great addition to this episode. He complemented you and JB really well, great commentary, all around awesome kid.
you can hear the fear in Eddie's voice when he said "DONT LEAVE ME"
"No, don't leave me" - Eddie
I felt that
With most bikepacking videos, I get jealous of the scenery, or the bikes, or the fitness levels of the riders... This time I'm jealous of the Biju. I need to get a Biju for my trips!
Biju makes everything great 😊
Everyone needs a biju in their life
ONLY complaint.... this was only an hour. Great work tyler and crew
This documentary NEEDS to be shown on outdoor movie festivals.
My wife who is not into cycling, loves your channel now! Haha we have been catching up on a bunch of content. So thanks VC for giving us something to watch together
Take your time she will be cycling soon
Honestly Tyler, you're just the best at telling those stories... Never too cheesy, never too serious, never too cocky, just an honest storytelling that just makes you wanna grab your bike and explore. And btw, Jeremiah also rips and Eddie was a gem on this one.
I’ve been binging Impossible Route films for the last 3 days. This is absolutely the best marketing investment Canyon could possibly have made. This speaks to my outdoor/camping/cycling soul ❤
Thank you for this, I’ve really put my best effort into making these worth the time investment to watch.
I’m at 2/3 of the length of the video and I have to pause to write a comment on how amazed I am by the quality of this video !
"No need to pout, I'm an eagle scout. Woooooow". That along with ensuing music actually lifts my watts on the bike when I'm watching!!!
Hey guys I'm a dialysis patient of 19 years but I'm also a mountainbiker... I have my own RUclips channel just like you and I learned so much from your adventures I have some of the similar adventures in the woods into greenways when I can but let me tell you something I suffer dearly having to endure dialysis to stay alive however when it comes down to seeing the sunrise on a good weather day and my body is not exceptionally tired or I'm in pain getting out there and pedaling takes all of that away sort of like your day too and day one in the beginning. I don't know what it is I can't explain it but being on a trail and going down 50 to 20 miles just to go get lunch and turn around and come back is my addiction this Vlog was everything and I really truly appreciate it this was the motivation I was looking for during a dark time dealing with having four surgeries on my legs and experiencing crazy leg pain everyday I haven't been able to be on my bike consistently however it's just reminds me of what I need to be doing and I appreciate you guys.

Got Popcorn 🍿 Got Friday Night 🌉 Got Vegan Cyclist Movie-Night ...... Ahhhhhhhh 🍻
Live to Love, Ride to Live, Love to Live.❤️💪🏻🤙🏻🚴🏼♂️🚴🚴🏼♀️
So, Biju in french (bijou) means 'jewel' and that sums it up perfectly!
A guardian angel named Bijou. I mean Chef Bijou. Another inspiring trip, thank you all, you are legends.
Ayyyyyyyyyyyyy, love the intro with the Robert Frost poem!!!!
That was eddies idea!
One of the best bike docu's I have ever seen....The Vegan Cyclist does it again....wow
I cant imagine only having three water bottles and no streams/waterbodies on that day 4 climb! Loved Tyler's reaction at the top of Red. Kick ass.
Best hour of cycling on the internet - Fact!! 😉
This guy Tyler is a loco bad ass. We love him and his videos. Is a role model for the rest of us that love the bikes and adventures. Vamos Tyles, smash those pedals and suffer. That will be your redemption.... LOL.....
Best impossible route yet! Not to be that guy but you misspelled "Virginia City" (around 44 min). Can't wait until the next one! Yuh!
These videos are freaking works of art and need/deserve millions of views. please share.
"you can do anything if it's the last day"....as we never know when our last day will be that's sage advice right there ...
"An average guy doing above average things" - I LOVE this! It's so simple, yet tells you everything you need to know about the person and the challenge ahead ❤
What a treat to wake up and see a new episode of the impossible route! Kids are asleep and a big coffee in my hand. YEAH!
The Robert frost poem at the beginning is my favorite part of this episode
Tyler, dude! you got to give yourself a little more credit when you describe the group at the beginning of every single one of these. You use words like "world-class" this or that when you talk about Jeremiah, and it's all deserved, but you're no "regular" or "ordinary" cyclist. You're a freakin' beast! well done. I've now watched all of these and am totally hooked. And I don't have any desire to do any gravel bike riding or bike packing. But the whole idea of riding beyond one's perceived limits is so appealing and awesome, I have to continue to watch.
Oh, and your hair every morning: pure gold. MONEY! Keep making these. I love them. Good luck.
Got a screenshot from the pickup ride on my phone now. For some reason this is inspiring to me; three completely wiped out bicyclists looking forlorn in the backseat of a truck.😁
As much as I enjoy these movies, I kinda miss your more daily little adventures close to home vlog style videos. They’re more relatable and are more prone to get me going out on the bike(s).
Cycling is about suffering, but you do it on another level. Incredible effort. Incredible film. Well done all involved.
How's it even possible that these keep getting better and better from the previous ones...this is gold, 100@%
I think it's because we don't know what we're doing and we keep getting a little bit better each time thanks Leonel.
this should be on tv, awesome!
finding joy in the face of adversity, self imposed or not is fuel for my mind and body. Any idiot can suffer, but it takes a special one to realize the value and share with others. Thank you and your whole team for putting in the work and making this happen. Top shelf gentlemen ..... your setting a new benchmark for stoke.
Eddie is such a sweet child. Well done boys!
As a carpenter from New Zealand , this is a dream of mine to cycle around parts of your beautiful country , thanks for making this video !!
One of the best cycling films I have seen. Thanks for bringing us along.
Thanks Jonathan and Tim as I watch the video I almost shed a tear realizing I might never make it this high mountain tops again but I'm sure thankful I have seen it once!
Bear: you dont have dinner? then you are dinner😀
Honestly I’m in awe with each of your videos. I have no doubts this could blow up on Netflix and other streaming apps. The quality of these impossible routes are top notch👌🏼
I e said this before as have many others! I’m curious if it will ever happen. If not, what is the reason?
The drone shot of laying in the river was epic!
You missed your career as a documentary filmmaker. These films are amazing, with great production values. So great.
Genius guys. You just defunded the BBC.
Cool videos. Hard core riding. It wasn't fully self sustained with a wide variety of guardian angels helping out along the way. Amazing ride.
You three hanged out a lot longer than I would, after seeing a baby bear and not knowing where mama is 😆
Once again…INCREDIBLE…Bless you Tyler …you are the best
🐻😍🐻😍
And I thought no one was competing with the Rapha whereabouts films, keep this series going !
Love your content, VC! I'm 31 y/o and am just getting back into cycling after 12 years of being focused on the wrong things. Your videos have me dreaming again for the first time in a long time. Keep the stoke levels high my friend!
These impossible route episodes have been amazing. The great thing is North America is loaded with so many routes that could be ridden for future episodes. Keep em coming and keep inspiring
This is the best playlist I've come across on RUclips!
Binge watching these for sure.
men, every single video you do hit's the spot for da best ever. thank you
Are these the best cycling movies in history 🧐🥰
I also remember my 1st 200 km ride, training for a month after a 5 year stop from cycling. At the last 3km man , I am in tears it felt like joy and everything😁😍😍.
This is insane! Every time Tyler and co go through the hardest effort in their life I think okay it must have been over for this time. No, they are doing it again. Thanks guys you deliver this top quality content and I can just enjoy watching it, enjoying Tyler’s soulful commentary along with improving my English skills and learning some really nice idioms :)
The soundtrack to these impossible videos are just brilliant
Tyler you may not think you are super human, but, wow man you are an awesome human.....total awesomeness
There is nothing average about you sir. Such an inspiration.
I grew up 20 min outside of Glacier. So cool to see you guys riding in a place I hold near and dear to my heart ❤️
The quality behind the production of every film you produce is absolutely amazing. Finding your motivation watching these films should be easy! Keep them coming bro 👊🏽
One of the most inspiring series for me. Now I'm thinking about crossing my mountainous region on a fixie in a small period of time
These videos just keep getting better and better - they're definitely a highlight on RUclips when a new one comes out.
Once again another great and inspirational ride. Thank you all for allowing us to join you.
Insane ride dude. You're soooooooo much better than just an average cyclist.
Finally. An Epic journey that inspires anyone who has ridden long and hard. One more mile!! It always have worked.
Wow that might just hav been the most beautiful story about ultra endurance cycling I’ve ever seen
Just started riding and I suck so bad but this just gave me the motivation to keep going. Thank you! Going to keep taking the harder road as well.
Shreddie Eddie representing Central VA! Let's GO!
Ending with Robert Frost. Perfect.
I just got back from an 85m gravel trip with 3 guys that aren’t gravel/bikepackers but watching this vid MAN I’m ready to hit the trail again
The oatmeal! I must learn what was in the oatmeal! Please? And, yes, the video was spectacular too. My wife and I watched it several times. Many thanks!
We’ll done. More people need to see this.
I've never watched a film that's made me want to ride my bike as much as this one Tyler. Thank you so much for documenting this impossible journey and everything you do for our community.
This series is the best thing since sliced bread. I really love that you are documenting and making the best documentary exploring and adventuring where no bike has gone before. Take my money.
Each Impossible Route gets better and better!
Its amazing how the thought of food can bring you from the brink of walking away from the trip to let's get it
Bruh. Best video ever- unbelievable!
I love how his videos often start with him being a complete wimp but he always finishes. Great video
I’ll complain, pout, yell, and kick rocks, but I’ve never quit anything I’ve ever done.
I love it. Thanks for the video
Fuck dude how do you think I feel, I do all this training for nothing and he just gets faster the worse you treat him! He's like Rocky. ;)
If this became a DVD series or Netflix series, no doubt it'll be a huge hit. Absolutely awesome content!
These Impossible Route videos are magnificent. They are both instructional and inspiring. I can’t wait for the next
IR video. Give us more please!
Thank you so very much for this series !! You have truly inspired me to a newly elevated mind set. Later this year I will be traveling to Yellowstone National Park to work for 4 months. I will be leaping into semi retirement and I am scared !! I have hiked, backpacked, swam, water polo'd, biked, tri's, horses, sailed. !! I've done so much...but for some reason my brain tells me I'm a poser. That I am not deserving, that it's all a farce. Your videos remind me that anything is possible, just put your head down, one foot in front of another. I love your mantra about the present me and future me ! You all are amazing ! Thank you so much for the inspiration. 64 and still goin' at it.
Aww man, like totally awesome Bros!!!! What a ride, thanks for the vid and I am very inspired at 71 years young. I’m going out for a ride tomorrow to do 40 miles which is big for me!! Keep these vid coming, us good ol boys love them and Tyler is so funny!!
Absolutely the best content on RUclips... Thanks for inspiring us all man! Eat the plants, ride the bikes bro!
Then quality of this is just freakin amaaaazing! So appreciate the time and immense effort which goes into it, I don't think people realise!! Great job guys, this just be a Netflix series!!!!!
Watching this during my 2 hr zwift workout.... Perfect. Thanks VC and Co.
Has become addicted to follow this channel !
Masterpiece, I'm a roadie starting to get into gravel and I'm 100% going to start bikepacking because of these videos. Please keep making these!
F yeah. These Impossible Route videos are so good.
You're really are one hell of a story teller. The more i watch these videos, the more i can relate to the struggles we as cyclist endure. Well done fellow rider 🤙🏾💪🏾🤘🏾. Also🤣🤣🤣 as hell too.
WOW, what an epic journey for you all - and for us, the viewers!
I'm ashamed to say, I added this to my Watch Later list so I could sit down and listen to it in one go, and then I absolutely buried it in the list by adding a lot of... lesser content, we'll call it that. Now is the time to marvel at your journey, the suffering and the victories that comes with it. You're an absolute maniac on the bike, and very humble on the mic, which is a great combo for the content you make. Thanks for making these videos bro, you're a legend!!
The Mauna Kea impossible route made me subscribe . Haven't regretted it yet
Literally the best place I’ve been. 3 years till retirement. Definitely love Montana.
I can't stop watching these videos.. so good!
Tyler, Jeremiah, Eddie! You guys and your crew with Biju enlightened me on this heavy day (6 years to the day of my dad's passing). I grew up in Missoula and my dad was from Butte, East of Anaconda. I've ridden practically everywhere you guys rode on this video including some of the impossible routes you found yourself out on stranded in the night. I must say, I absolutely loved and dug time stamp from about 19:00 to around 25:00 in to Missoula. That's my backyard. I helped make those trails in the 1970's. Yeeeooowww!!! The camaraderie you fellas laid down was respectable and noteworthy. the patience and humility...outstanding. The perseverance and wherewithal you all showed revealed the epitome of what it is to do what you set out to do: to complete and make possible the impossible!! WELL DONE! Jeremiah - haven't seen you since the Sugarcane200 down here in South Florida. Awesome performance that day with Ted and Dylan. Keep those pedals crank'n! -Gratz
The best RUclips content I have ever watch, cheers you three people are incredible!!!!!
Want to thank you for these great videos/adventures-- met Bishop at Snowshoe, WV UCI race in Sept and a very nice and approachable person. Thanks again!
