I’m here because anything Matt does on the bike is worth watching😊 I like the Ortlieb gravel front panniers I use on my Trek Checkpoint 4 when I go bike packing. Better than rear panniers because there’s less weight on the back wheel if you hit a pothole and better than a handlebar bag because the weight is lower down and you can see exactly where the front wheel hits the road. I do use the Ortlieb seat pack with the plastic saddle clamps for clothes, which are light and it’s as sold as a rock.
09:29 "or just outside Croydon" What the heck, how did you know where I was?! Loving this content by the way. So good! Matt and Phoebe you're hilarious.
Love seeing Matt! And I can never get enough bikepacking starter tips. I've ridden around 600 miles in three bikepacking trips so far. I carry sleep and shelter always but have only tarped one night so far -- at a reserved campground. My biggest hurdle is starting out target fixated on my destination and overly optimistic daily targets making go out too strong, riding too long into the night, never seeing a good, safe, secret spot to tent followed by caving; getting Siri to find the nearest hotel. I have a good time but I need to do what Matt has done and do a quick trip and plan the camp spot into my itinerary vs. trying to master stealth camping right now.
I cannot believe the kit/food/sleep system fitted into that small number of bags. I also have a frame bag and a small rucksack. Assume they were not filming either. Would be good to see a list of what was really carried.
Haha I'm (much) older than Matt and had a night in a tent on tour last week. There are some places (jura, in this instance, but lots of north and west Scotland), where it can be tough to find decent accommodation. Luckily, I was in a lovely b&b either side.

Can I just ask how do you mount the front panniers? I have the same bike as you but have not found a good pannier rack option...
Matt is absolutely hilarious brilliant content again.
Thank you. We are glad you enjoyed it! Lots more to come...
Packing Eggs on a Gravel Ride... Legend
Scrambled eggs
Cracking choice of bikepacking nutrition if we say so ourselves
‘Lightweight mat’ as they were talking about what they’d packed was a missed opportunity for a great pun.
Great to meet Matt in the cafe. We are the two sat behind. Im not the one stuffing my face, honest.
Thank goodness for GCN, otherwise we might not have met Matt.🎉
Cheers for this, Matt is so entertaining, don’t tell him it’ll go to his head 😂.
🤫 😜
I was just hiking in the Lake District, coming from Canada we laughed hard in the grocery store when we found the Jammie Dodgers. They do exist!
Great advert for Parsley Hay that; 15 quid thats a bargain :D
So sensible to have a Consultant Paediatrician looking after Matt Stephens 🤣🤣🤣 Lots of fun to watch.
Got this as an ad on a youtube video, I'm quite new to gravel cycling and made me feel encouraged and represented! Cheers!
That's awesome. Appreciate the feedback. Enjoy your cycling 😃
I long for beautiful cycling paths and countryside like this. It looks amazing.

Looks lovely
Great episode!! Looked like really good fun. You should do more of these, keep up the great work 🚴🏼♀️💨🚴🏼♂️💨
Thanks! Will do!
Matt our cyclocross legend!
As Arthur Dent would attest, always keep a towel handy. One can’t go wrong with that bit of information, Matt.
So love Matt in vids like this.
He rocks eh
Love the high peak trail, great witty video
Thank you. It is a fantastic place to ride for sure
Great video thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
More lightweight bike packing trip and how to pack and what to bring tips
Will Phoebe be on unplugged podcast soon? I think she’d be a good guest.
Bikepacking 101, Matt does a week’s worth of gas in one meal 🤪 Great fun, tongue in cheek, get out there! 🚀🚀

When Matt says "a backup towel" does he mean a towel for the rear area? 😊
How did Matt stay upright in this? I mean, he has a reputation to defend...
Nice video. What tent is this please?
LOl..up and down the same stretch of the trail
Can Phoebe manage to camouflage her non-sponsoring bike brand for the entire 15:39? Let's find out!
That'll be a no then
What was the model/make tent that Matt was using?
The tent was from Mira - www.exped.com/en/products/tents-and-tarps/mira-i-hl
What was Matt jacket he put on when he got cold ? I like it 👍
That was a GOREWEAR Spinshift Gore-Tex Jacket - sigmasports.com/item/GOREWEAR/Spinshift-GORE-TEX-Jacket/12JIH
whats the campsite called where they stay?
I'm a simple man, I see Matt Stephens being a danger to himself and others on a bike and I watch.
What is the bar called again 😂
I thought matt was gonna burn the sheep shed down 😂😂😂
I see the problem during the intro -- Matt was clipped in.
There's only one Matt Stephens !
My kinda woman.. 'I think we need some chips!'
what bags are you using on this video please?
They are from Ortlieb. The range can be viewed here - www.sigmasports.com/brand/ortlieb
@@sigmasports thanks.
are the handlebar bags the qr ones?
can you use them with a handlebar light / handlebar gps device?
Matt you come and ride with me, I'll pack all the jammy dodgers!
That is a strong offer!
I don’t know Matt I think she should have been on the pink bike 😂
1st!!!
Slept in a pod and tent right next to England's fanny
15:39 mins and not a mention of toilet facilities… 😆
Matt has no manners and eats all the food! Always!!!
That fake bikepacking, tent + set, cooking set, food in 2 bags? no way;D nice try., no cloths and electrical
It's all so fake 😡🤬
You know TV ain't real too, right?
Just no. Men of a certain age need to ride between hotels or guest houses.
Brake your mind, and say no, to no.
Haha

Never too old to camp! There are literally 100s of channels on RUclips of people of all ages bikepacking and/or wildcamping.
There are no rules. Just ride.
And I avoid them. Just no.
Matt pretending to be rubbish to make Phoebe look better than she is? These are the woke times we're living in i'm afraid.
