- Today I'm starting a new series on the channel called 'Retals University' where I teach you guys how to properly play Rocket League. In this series I'll be focussing on ranked 1v1 but if you'd like to learn how to play 2v2 or even 3v3 then let me know in the comments below! Depending on how you want the series to go, it might be useful to plan out a 'lesson plan' so you are able to play through the games talking about that specific topic with other additional content. That way you have episodes with some focus. I love the idea of this series, so I hope it turns into everything you want.
Apparently Jack’s speedflips tutorial is what finally got me past the finish line too.
This is the content we didn’t know we needed. I’ve been watching your streams and YT videos for awhile now. Those have helped me out a ton. This series will be even better! Keep it up man.

Edit: It's great to see your learned reactions to making a mistake and conceding. Your initial reaction is frustration but you then accept it or acknowledge something they did well. Most of us could learn from that as it clearly helps to prevent tilt

This was a fantastic video, I love the concept. It’s easy to think of pros as perfect and untouchable. It’s super refreshing to see you making mistakes, walking us through your decisions, and helping us learn from your mistakes.

this was really cool! if you could showcase bounce dribbling and different ways to know if bounce dribbling is the best thing you can do, that'd be super helpful. also, a 2s video would be super nice. struggling in 2s rn. love u and the optic boys

keep the series going, its nice to get explanations to small details when youre playing 1's
You did it so much in this video and I'm honestly surprised you don't mention it but: In lower ranks especially, use your right stick!! Having awareness of where your opponents are by manually looking around is essential in ranking up in 1's.
One thing I would recommend that would help is if you 1v1 your lower ranked fans so you could give a wider advice. Then maybe you could go over replays in a call with that player and show what they are doing wrong.
Ill be watching every episode of this. Hard stuck plat 3 in 1v1, but champ in 2s and I just know its because I play 1's like 2's

Please do more of this! I'm around high champ 3 in 2v2 but because of my decision making in 1's i cannot rank up to champ. Would love to see more, especially basic concepts for challenges and such.
That's about where you should be.
1s is about one full rank "harder" than your 2s and 3s rank.
ie.: If you hang around Champ 3 in 2s/3s, you should be around Diamond 3 in 1s
Other way around also works, if you reach, let's say Champ 3 in 1s, you should be able to reach GC3 in 2s/3s without too much struggle
same ill easily hit champ if i just play more 1s tho. getting gc is so annoying. i was 1424 and lost twice down to 1404. its so demeaning i can never hit it
The whole 1s ladder is shifted a full rank down till u get to high gc/ssl
ye found a champ 2 in 2s as a plat 1 in 1s he won barely he said he just doesn't play 1s. I was diamond 1 then. it's mostly a full rank lower even if you grind it.

nice ! continue the serie it is very helpful + we saw flakes playstyle in his 1s serie now we will see another playstyle, even tho you guys are different, the tips you said about ground play to reduce risk is the same opinion as flakes playstyle, the difference with you is the mechanics, SO, your tips + flakes tips and your playstyle + flakes playstyle we learned from the past can lead us to a good level !

The true question is how to get over the fear of playing 1s. I don't know if it's a fear of failure or realizing your flaws, but it's hard to get into 1s.

@Retals Bounce dibbles are a great tip for me at C1, I'd suggest categorizing what to practice for each rank. In my opinion speedflips are good to practice but not to use until a certain rank, replay commentary as well. Either way great series.
I think you should use speed flips as soon as you learn them. I’m a plat in ones and it works just as well as my champ opponents in twos
@@RHENUUMGOAT True with all mechanics. Just saying there are more important mechanics to focus on in the low/ mid ranks, I have a friend who screws up his speedflip a lot and we get scored on because of it.
@@jaredgriswold2721 agreed, and that also touches on another thing Retals said in this video which was not to use those mechanics until you’ve learned them. For example your friend with speed flips

I noticed I feel less toxic if I swallow my ego and acknowledge a good play on their part. It's crucial to see why you get bested in plays, sometimes ya just gotta compliment the enemy lol
