    Nice one! For electronics you might find cheaper prices than in Europe because of the lower VAT in Thailand. Then getting the VAT back at the airport is a bit tricky.. because you need to get it stamped BEFORE passing immigration and sometimes the queue is super long and you might have to run to catch your flight!

    Thanks for this. You just made me laugh. In Australia where we are currently based I’m an S sometimes XS but when I get to Thailand I’m more like an M lol. It’s much easier for me to find clothes that fit when I’m in Bangkok. However, for my husband it’s much harder 😂
    What always makes me laugh is the “one size fits all” in most markets like Chatuchak or Pratunam and there’s no way to try on. I love going there but more for the atmosphere and practice speaking Thai rather than buying clothes.
    I’m sure a lot of people who’ve not travelled to Thailand before will find this video really useful. It’s well presented and entertaining as usual 😊

    Good advice for first time visitors/shoppers. I prefer to seek out actual THAI vendors. MBK and many stall markets teem with non-Thai sellers. I like to put my money in Thai hands. i ask, "Are you the owner?" (that is, not an employee of a non-Thai).

    • @thebangkokguide
      @thebangkokguide  8 часов назад

      That’s a tough one to answer. You could survive on $100 or spend $5000… depends on your lifestyle! But credit cards are widely accepted, but often have a minimum spend. Enjoy the trip!

    I have been going to Bangkok for more than 40 years. I get even vat refund in groceries 😊 we are always in a group of 5 sisters so we put together all our purchases on the same day to get the vat minimum purchase. I don’t like to buy fake branded products, I would rather buy those without the fake branded name products. With regards to clothes locally made, I ask the seller to measure the chest or waistline, or bring your own tape measure because many shops do not allow you to fit the clothes.

      @@gerrytime3403 A couple of years ago I got a Casamorati (Xerjoff) a bit cheaper from Atelier De Prestige Iconsiam. IIRC, their Maison Crivelli and Frederic Malle were a bit cheaper. I think their Creed and Kilian were way more expensive. Just a tip, some of the niche/designer fragrance brands in Emsphere are having a 20% off promo sale (Tiziana Terezeni, Byredo, and a few others) for a short time. This trip I was on a hunt for niche Thai perfume and found exactly what I was looking for with Prin (Skonx @Central World).

    Thai local manufactured things and food = no import tax = alot more affordable
    And for fakes u have different tiers of quality. Highest quality "fakes" is stuff that ARE from the original factories but "fell of a truck".
    There are no reason to go to Thailand with full suitcases..U can find ANYTHING u need probably alot more affordable and often better quality for the climate.

    Nothing new for me know these kind of things for years, funny the Top Charoen stores I always look if they customers and 99% I walk past one of their shops I never see any customers. For wearing glasses of contact lenses there is one exception if you wear hard contact lenses you out of luck everywhere in Thailand they don't have any cleaning products of it and they don't sell hard contact lenses either. Come on everyone know these days that luxury shopping malls with high end brand names are expensive all over the world nothing new their but you right in Thailand they are even more expensive. The Watson and Boots are not fake in MBK same as the gold shops only the small watches, clothes and bag shop are fake but you know it by the cheap prices compare to the real ones. Buying too quickly is all over the world nothing to do with Thailand just look first where ever you are. In my country I have be careful with clothes sizes also sometimes M sometimes L🙂
