From his introduction, Blackbeard seemed like a very likable character. Understanding Luffy and Zoro’s refusal to fight, his speech about dreams, wishing them well on their journey to Skypia. It was all quite endearing upon first meeting him. Even though he’s a lier, a cheat, and a backstabber there is a genuineness in his conviction that was plainly visible from the start.
This scene makes Blackbeard look like he asked Kuzan to join him to avoid becoming ice sculpture. Also yeah, when you're member of crew like this it's better sleep with one eye open.

He may be a disgusting, ruthless, backstabbing bastard, but Blackbeard has the same "magnetism" that helps Luffy bring people to his side. What he doesn't have is loyalty though. The people who follow him aren't the ones who see a better world ahead, they're the ones who think they'll get the best for themselves. Luffy inspires those who believe he'll make the world a better place, Blackbeard inspires those who believe he'll make them rich and powerful. When BB can't give them that anymore (i.e he loses) they'll desert him. In that regard, these two characters couldn't be more dissimilar.

In this scene Blackbeard tells Aokiji that a pirate crew consists out of different people that are chasing the same goal. Rather than being friends or getting along with each other. In the scene where Chopper asks Zoro why he joined Luffy’s crew (in Alabasta). Zoro responds with the exact opposite. Saying that every Strawhat crew member has his own goal separate endgoal. But they are willing to sacrifice themselves for each other while achieving those goals, making them a good “crew”. Therefore joining them. Funny how both these views are the exact opposite of each other. Illustrating the different views of Luffy and Blackbeard once again.
Blackbeard definitely would win this fight however, not without consequence. BB has plans and losing any crew members or suffering great injuries where’d he need to delay his plans isn’t a thing he’d like to do. Those impel down members were recruited for a reason. The reason why BB did not fight with Kuzan here is because he knows there will be casualties on his side. He knows for sure that THEY can take out kuzan but kuzan will not go down without a fight. Despite their duties, they aren't heartless, and the only one still pretending is Sakazuki, who has increasingly less control over the Admirals the more they rediscover their humanity, except for Green Bull who seems to only want to please Sakazuki. Which is to say, the Admirals, current or former, won't be the Final Bad Guys. They'll do their duty, but each and every one knows what they do is wrong and false.

In this scene Blackbeard tells Aokiji that a pirate crew consists out of different people that are chasing the same goal. Rather than being friends or getting along with each other.
In the scene where Chopper asks Zoro why he joined Luffy’s crew (in Alabasta). Zoro responds with the exact opposite. Saying that every Strawhat crew member has his own goal separate endgoal. But they are willing to sacrifice themselves for each other while achieving those goals, making them a good “crew”. Therefore joining them.
Funny how both these views are the exact opposite of each other. Illustrating the different views of Luffy and Blackbeard once again.

Blackbeard definitely would win this fight however, not without consequence. BB has plans and losing any crew members or suffering great injuries where’d he need to delay his plans isn’t a thing he’d like to do. Those impel down members were recruited for a reason. Level 6 is filled with nothing but pirates whose bounties were 100M or higher. And yet he only took 5 prisoners with him.

In the manga, Blackbeard is really afraid of Kuzan.
The reason why BB did not fight with Kuzan here is because he knows there will be casualties on his side.
He knows for sure that THEY can take out kuzan but kuzan will not go down without a fight. BB does not want to risk losing some key crew members from fighting a strong opponent such as ex-admiral Aokiji.

I know what all of this is leading up to. Kuzan, Borsalino, and Sakazuki all embody justice - but they're human. Despite their duties, they aren't heartless, and the only one still pretending is Sakazuki, who has increasingly less control over the Admirals the more they rediscover their humanity, except for Green Bull who seems to only want to please Sakazuki.
Which is to say, the Admirals, current or former, won't be the Final Bad Guys. They'll do their duty, but each and every one knows what they do is wrong and false.
Basicly this is a timed sensitive mission luffy missed out on by doing every other side quest first. Like imagine he met luffy and joined his crew
