    your video was very helpful 😊 thank you! I backed the lizard and the seal. dont know if the seal will produce better scans than my revopoint mini or einscan sp, but its worth a try. im also looking to scan small figures / statues - not higher than 30cm/12inch and sometimes their parts (which can be very tiny like a head or so, painted also in black matte..) .your lizard tutorial helped me a lot! I hope you decide to buy the seal and do a tutorial with that too ❤

      Thanks mate, the seal does look pretty promising for those smaller items or just finer details on those smallish/med size items. Still unsure if ill get it yet, I do but at same time got other things I need to save for so need to be the responsible adult haha

    Hey mate good video. I'm Australia based and had a special express package come to me direct from china recently. Turned out to be a postcard sized flyer for 35% off this in the indiegogo campaign.... after watching this I now know how they got my details, as I was Backer #1 in the Lizard KS before that all went weird.

      Wow that some hot news off the press right there! I also received that flyer and was a lizard backer as well but was also sent the whale when it released so thought probably got it because of that. I don't know if there is some bad blood between Creality and 3DMP but imo its pretty underhanded to have access to another companies mail list which you then send out a promotion to. Assuming Creality is not aware of this though.

    I'm looking to get the seal mainly for mechanical engineering, this video was quite helpful, thanks for that! I was wondering how scanners like it handle objects outside of their "recommended" scanning size. I'm not trying to scan a car but some motorcycle parts / fairings will be scanned. size about 1m max.
    I didn't read anything about a hard-cap in size but maybe there's some experience from other small object scanners trying to scan larger objects :)

    • @DraftID
      @DraftID  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks for watching. What I find with objects outside of its recommended settings is your start getting issues with tracking or alignment. Eg if using a small surface area liek this one and you keep trying to push out of its "area" it will start mismatching the alignment and you will need to stop or end up with a bad scan that you need to do again. You might be able to patch work a larger object together by doing areas and sort of overlapping them so it recognises and stiches the areas together but again start going too large and it wont be able to keep up. The other way of using a big scanner for a small object and you have the issue you just cant get close enough for it to start scanning and will keep asking you to move back.

      @@DraftID hmmm, I think I'll give the seal a chance, I definitely need the fine detail in small applications. For larger stuff I'll give the ol baby powder + alcohol spray and stick on dots a shot. Thank you for the answer!

    • @DraftID
      @DraftID  11 месяцев назад +1

      @@marvfpv1590 My personal thoughts is it should be great with small objects and should pick up the detail quite well. Keep in mind 3d scanning is a skill to learn so take your time to learn it and how that fits in your overall workflow. I want to do more videos on what to do with models after scanning them since scanning them is really just one step in the process.

    If it's the same as the lizard, thank you for the warning. The lizard is garbage. I've worked with professional 3D scanners and these things are terrible. I couldn't even scan an amiibo without the frames jumping everywhere and it took me 2 hours to make the scan somewhat usable. Maybe if you've never seen a professional scan you might think this is ok, but the scans are not good at all. Not even close. Save your money.

    • @DraftID
      @DraftID  11 месяцев назад +3

      I think there is still a very large gap between hobby scanners and professional scanners like you say, but there is also a huge price gap too. The problem I think is the marketing for these scanners promise the world but fall short.

    • @kylianthehylian
      @kylianthehylian 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@DraftID if they were more realistic in their marketing it would be ok, but you are NOT getting .01mm accuracy out of this scanner. I've worked with high end scanners that are capable of doing this (we had to scan an aircraft part with ridges that needed to be unbelievably accurate) and even our best tech had trouble aligning the scan so accurately with high-end software. A $200 scanner sure won't do that. Not even close.

    • @DraftID
      @DraftID  11 месяцев назад

      @@kylianthehylian I completely agree and I wish marketing was more realistic.

      The Scan Ferret turned out to be a really decent color scanner, and I'm hoping the Seal will be even better by being able to autoalign multiple scans.
