When sleeping out like that. Something the old ones taught me is to leave really long poles that run from the fire past your head so you can push it into the coals without getting out of the bed. As it burns away keep pushing it in. Great vid as always bro
I’m not able to get out and camp right now due to working full time and caring for my wife who has brain cancer. I do my bushcraft adventures through you and other you tubers. And right now, my adventures are awesome! Thanks again for taking me along Corp! I’m eating and camping in style!
Your technique for cutting wood by using your legs as a stand and a vise is genius! I've been a plumber for 18 years and have cut PVC pipe a lot of different ways and can't wait to try your trick out. Thank you Sir!
Seriously why would someone downvote this video? I thought he did an excellent job. The man slept on 2 garbage bags under the stars with it 20 degrees F with a blanket. Anybody who has done similar theirself would give him a thumbs up in my book, I sure did. I was impressed with the chips coming off of that knife by the way.
I am watching this at 11 pm , big mistake , now I'm hungry for a Bacon Cheeseburger with egg on top done over a fire ....😁 . Definitely going to try your wind break walls next time I'm out camping in the back part of our property. Another great vlog .
This is why I luv this channel! When it’s time to man up he gets it done. So much to learn and a lot of great skills. That burger was to die for! Put those boots on and get to work. 👍🍻
OK OK, now that the winter storm is over, it isn't that cold anymore! I'm gonna sleep in my RV without heat for a night. I have a wool blanket with my old high school logo on it, plus lots more. I've been a wuss, and I need to get started with my full time nomadic living.🙂 Thanks for the inspiration, Corporal!
Something I learned last year at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. If you read the label on the Folgers (I know, I normally don’t read directions either, but I was just sitting there...). It says something like, One teaspoon per 6oz of hot water. Makes a big difference in taste. Also, you can cut it with a packet of Swiss Miss.
Another great video as usual. The cooking segments are a hit. I did like the little bit on clean up. Gives a little bit of reality that most people don’t think about or get to see. Thanks
Thermometers are truth, 64 degrees is cozy. You always explain things well, gives me the inspiration to make one. Two tight parallel poly tarps hung low is something I've wanted to try for wind control. Thanks always
The video and content as always .....Good to go!! The camaraderie between bushcraft instructors.....Outstanding!!!! Thanks as always for another great video!!
The Corporal is living proof that a man can be content with only a bed, a fire, and some food; no "modern conveniences" required. (What a name, huh? "Modern conveniences." From what I've seen, that means the more modern, the less convenient) (Also, Corporal, ditch the Folgers and get some Medaglia d'Oro if you're going to stick with instant. It costs a bit more, but it's espresso, so you don't need to use as much, and it tastes better too. Not amazing, but much better)
The part where said your coffee tastes like crap and you take your coffee black...lmao about fell out my seat, awesome video, loved the setup well done and great attitude.
Hello from Oklahoma! Good video! Loved it! I might have to look into one of those saws. By God that looked like a righteous Burger! I don't always comment but I'm always watching! Thanks! God Bless! Semper Fi!
Real big monkey talked about your fire in the rain video good stuff! I've learned a lot from both of you thanks for the videos! Staying warm in Iowa thanks again !
I like your no none sense approach to Bush crafting,I have seen a few of your videos now and I have learned and have enjoyed every one them thank you Corporal
Really do appreciate the detail that you go through to improve the camp setting. Such as gathering the moss, filling the gaps, clearing the leaves. I've learned a lot from your channel. THanks
great vid. The Dan joke was funny. LOL. I'm sure he will return the favor. If someone ribs you, you know they like ya. The dinner looked delicious. I'm envious because I just had dental surgery yet I have all the fixings in my fridge. LOL. Just needed some onions. BTW - if you add a little wood ash and water into your pan it will act like soap with the fats in there to help clean your stuff. The ash saponifies the fat and will make soap. ~155F.
Loll! So true about Folger's these days! Maybe try Café Bustelo ☕it's good! Great video, so sensible and smart. 🔥 Sounds like Maryland woodland when the crow caws in the morning!
You're putting out content like a boss. Been following you for years. Nice to see your channel booming. You made it happen, you earned it BROTHER. Thank you for the knowledge and skills.
Simple classic CPL’s Corner. I first watched your channel about 6 months ago. It totally inspired me to get outside and get happy. I still haven’t managed to find those chunky straight logs though, lol. Thanks for sharing your skills as always.
That technique you use for lighting slightly damp sticks is really useful. I used it the other day and I was able to get a great fire going. I'm going to try the moss technique for filling in gaps next time- I noticed that a lot of heat was escaping my shelter and I couldn't figure out how to do anything about it besides pile leaves behind it! But moss makes a lot more sense.
My tip for field cleaning a frying pan is this: Get it smoking hot, then dump a small amount of water in it, and swish it around. It'll steam up and flash boil in an instant. Dump water after swishing. All that should be left is a slightly damp, hot pan. Wipe out with cotton rag if needed.
LOL No It won't. I have been doing it for years....I don't know how cheap of a pan you'd have to get for it to warp from rapid cooling, but wow. I have never seen that. I also do this at home btw.
I should add that my camp pan is NOT very expensive. Just stamped steel. It does not bend in the middle. I don't know where you pulled this out from but it is not true.
Outstanding video. Back when you asked the question of what we wanted to see more of, I meant to have suggested adding your cooking videos into your overnighters
Damn CPL, i've learned a lot about bush craft from you, I hope to keep learning too. But you sir are not long for this world if you keep eating like that lmao. Now that being said, wow. That looks amazing and i know what i'm having for dinner lol. Edit: It needs more cheese lol
Great video, like the fact you showed cleansing you cookware. Not many take to showing this, and The chance of getting ill is great without cleaning yourself, or your items. Thanks again for the video.
Some times I cowboy camp in my desert preserve in the winter. The next morning I wake up before the sunrise and walk home, shower and go to work. Fun times every time. You have to camp higher up in the mountains due to javelina. Never fun being charged at when you are halfway a sleep.
Hey brother, new subscriber here (less than one month)- just wanted to say your channel is fkn OUTSTANDING. haha Keep this up man I’m burning through your episodes like bacon in a skillet! I’ll support this channel moving fwd best I can 💪 thanks for all you do
Hi Cpl, It would be great if you did a video in the future if you came down to the UK in the summer and see how you would use the different environments. I love your videos and I use them on camp with my cadet chums on field.
Hey Corporal! You and TA Outdoors use the same building techniques! Maybe you two could get together and build a shelter innawoods. He's from England so, either of you are crossing the big pond.
As always, love your videos. I really enjoy how you make your camp, clean and neat. Most others I've seen don't bother to rake and prepare the campsite. Then they have all kinds of critters, even snakes under the debris, crawling out. Plus the added fire hazard. While I glean some good tips and info from them, yours are about the best. Some remind me of the times I've spent out in the woods. Keep up the good work. Thank you for your hard, but enjoyable work.

Coffee Instant Type 1 or Coffee Instant Type 2?
Very much enjoyed your video. Always something to learn with the SelfRelianceOutfitters crew!

I've noticed you've added a little bit of humor in your videos recently and it's freaking awesome👍😎
Perfect timing hot coffee and the Corporal that equals an outstanding Friday . Enjoy your weekend Shawn
