I saw this at a free preview a few weeks before it was released. I didn't know anything about it or even who was in it. From the moment Tim Meadows said "Dewey Cox has to think about his whole life before he plays," I understood exactly what they were doing, and I was fully on board. I went with two friends, and I don't think any of us ever laughed that hard before or since. What made it even funnier to us was that most of the audience didn't seem to get it. The audience for these sneak previews and test screenings are mostly housewives and retired mall-walkers, and they're not the target audience for a movie like this. We were practically falling out of our seats from laughing, while most of the audience sat there stone-faced.
I do wish I'd been lucky enough to see this in the cinema, I literally found it randomly channel surfing before going to work and fell in love with it.
@BeardedBudgetMedia we were lliterally at the mall, walking past the entrance to the movie theater, and an usher was standing out front talking to people as they walked by. He asked us if we wanted to see a free movie that was starting in a few minutes. We were just killing time anyway, so we said sure and we went inside. The place was only about 1/3 full, so I can kind of see why they wanted to get more people in. The movie was free, but they were probably hoping to sell some popcorn and soda. I had no idea what the movie was going to be, and we said to each other that we'd give it a few minutes before deciding whether to stay for the whole thing By the end of the first minute we wear already laughing, and by the time "the wrong kid died," we were in tears from laughing so hard. I'm glad I took those free tickets that day, or I might never have seen one of my favorite comedies
While i enjoyed this movie very much on first watch - i couldn't after that really... but he will always hold a special place in my heart as the part with the celebs talking about dewey in the end made a friend question if it was real just for a second... and that was pretty funny ^^ Well she could take the joke especially because we all put it off on the refer ^^
In all seriousness, Walk Hard is up there with comedy classics like Airplane and Young Frankenstein. It's the perfect satire of those cliche-filled, by-the-numbers music biopics
One of my favourite movies
Personally, I find it underrated and underviewed by most.
My favorite movie. Easy to watch over and over and over.
And so underrated
Love this film and always thought it was criminally ignored. Glad to see it gaining some attention.
Agreed, this film is criminally underrated and it's something I always recommend to people.
Never heard of this before you mentioned it, looks good
I missed it when it first came out, caught it on a channel once around 2010/2011 and fell in love with it.

Insane to think you ended up viewing an absolute pearl as opposed to some dog crap by the numbers romantic comedy!!!

Exactly that, seems like a really misunderstood gem.
Walk Hard is a more historically accurate biopic than that Freddy Mercury biopic - and Dewey Cox literally doesn't exists.
Hands down, one of the best descriptions I've heard!
