Dan, helpful trick. Use a light colored sharpie for your sketching, then use the black sharpie for when you clean up your lines. Helps seeing your lines better while cutting

What you’re doing with the straight pieces is very common. If you end up doing a lot of work with the router I would suggest making a handful of jigs with different radius bends and shapes that you can always trace over onto something else using the same method. I’m excited to see how this turns out!

they sell templates and stuff you can mount to your projects and shit with all different shapes...its actually how they do car audio subwoofer boxes.... MOBILE SOLUTIONS has a bunch of good stuff

Hey Dan. I'm sure you have already heard this suggestion by now seeing is how it's exactly 2 months later, and I just found this video - but yeah, TEMPLATE tape. Car audio fabricators use this all the time for their builds. Keep up the great vids!

Dan, you could try to use a RaspberryPi for the "gaming console". They're pretty capable, especially the newer models.

I think some full enclosed boxes in lower section of the rear center would be badass. Cut a section out that’s covered by Plexiglass and RGB lights to illuminate the subs. I was gonna do it in my 14 Single Cab but never had the confidence to do so but your attitude of “You can do anything, It’s just work” is amazing and I am starting to live by it

The technique you used on the table top router is the exact technique we us in the car audio industry. The only advice I have is to use double stick tape to stick the pieces together NOT THE FOAM STUFF the super thin double stick tape. The foam moves and doesn't provide the straightest edges. Also it may benefit you to look into mobile solutions router templates! Stay awesome though feel free to shoot me a message if you have any questions
Not too sure if you will even read this but I have watched SO MANY of your videos and am also a tradesman and maybe and idea would be sweet to have outlets or USB ports on the sides in the back for charging. Just a thought! You are the man!!!

instead of screwing two pieces of material together, you can use template tape to stick them together when using a flushmount router bit. Also check of www.mobilesolutions-usa.com. They have alot of really cool design/ pre-made templates

Hey buddy you did the right thing using a pice of wood for a fence on the router table I have a car audio shop and that's what we do alot when building custom sub boxes ,consoles and door panels great job buddy can't wait to see the finished product if Atlanta wasn't so far from bradenton I would come give you a hand

The only difference between this router setup Dan, and how a wood worker would do, is they would have a dust collection system to pull the saw dust away as you worked. Oh, and also the piece of scrap as a fence, as long as the wood wasn't going to be naked, they would do the same.
You design around the fastener so basically if you think about being able to take it apart you hide the fasteners under moveable bits that way they are accessible but not an eyesore(think like plugs on those cheap toilet paper holders and towel bars as bad examples) so I say make a snap in type panel thats moveable and held in with screw joints from the inside of the box. Or basically make the structure a skeleton and the pretty bits hold onto that structure from inside like ar15 accessories on rails and stuff

You might try attaching the shop vac to a spot somehow like a donut around the table lathe to clear the debris from any work you do which would help alot with the heavily dusty and dangerous materials...

Those sonic saws are the shit! Used one to install a stove/oven and a microwave. They’re awesome for tight spots and give great straight cuts.

Instead of screws, next time use 2 sided tape to hold the pieces together for the router. Then you don't have screw holes to fix later.😃

Integrate a spot for your ccw on the side of the console man! It would be dope to have a spot specific for your daily carry
You can def put in at least 6 cup holders in there, but you probably have different priorities
I had a thought for the inside of the center console you could do an epoxy based internal to make it have the resiliency of the original plastic

instead of using screws to secure the straight edge try using blue painters tape on both surfaces and then supergluing them together. lets of woodworkers use this method when templating
