Bad habits is a great song but I prefer to hear "I give you the world" on repeat ...that song just puts me in a daze
is that a daze reference from his mixtape the lo fis
has to be
Listen to "prototype" OutKast and "take me where your heart is" by Q
Right ! Best song on the album !!
Helmet🔥🔥
ive been listening to him for years now and im so happy hes getting this amount of attention, i share him w as many ppl as possible but this new album has really made his fanbase increase
the meat riding is incredible
We thank u for supporting his career all the way to his success. Thank you
Meat riding is crzy
Same too but what is really annoying is the fact the attention he got now is from people from tiktok that only know bad habit and nothing else and there are people making fun of him for things to do with it and it’s like bro come on if only you knew him way back fr 🥲
Bro how tf is this meatriding?
He is just congratulating Steve for making it this far
Honestly im disapointed i didnt hear about Steve Lacy before this album because his whole career is amazing and im so excited to see what he comes out with in the future. This album came out at such a perfect time for me and its got to already be one of my favourite albums of all time its just spectacular and as a aspiring musician has inspired me so much especially as he produced and makes a lot of his tracks most by himself.
yeah i kinda hated that alot of new fans didnt get to experience him on egodeath he is one of the most talented Musicians and Producers of this generation
@@burtdagod6272 Palace/Curse is amazing ive dived as far as i can back through his career to find everything he made to try make up for what i missed and i’m in love with his style
im sad for u
You definitely got to check out his soundcloud era. It's really tight. A bunch of short and sweet instrumentals
oh boy if you found him during dark red, that shit was to mess with for sure
i thought i was the only one who absolutely loved that guitar solo in sunshine it’s actually incredible
it really is. thats one of my fav moments on the album
That guitar solo in sunshine is fr my favorite part of the album...I haven't gotten tired of it, sunshine as a song is so timeless
sunshine is literally one of the songs I have never gotten bored of it just sounds so good
@@beblue3119 i’ve been listening to this album non stop for months and i’m not bored of it. For me there isn’t even 1 stand out song but buttons, sunshine, static, bat habit, mercury and helmet just hit so crazy good
@@rordor21 VERY TRUE
I love this album,
Steve Lacy dun took off HAM ON THIS RIGHT HERE! a u t h e n t I c v i e w s dun took his career off 2 the next level fr fr no cap
"And it has been a very good year for music so far"
*shows Dj Khaled's album*
Yea next video is the genius of dj khaled actually
@@mintrommovies ur kidding that album was a joke 😭😭😭
@@mintrommovies no way😭😭
😂😂😂I laughed when I saw it
GOD DID
I've been with Steve since I was in middle school listening to "Steve Lacy's Demos" and finding out about him through Tyler's Flowerboy album and the band The Internet. I'm happy he's finally getting the recognition he deserves, and I'm excited to see his evolution.
as a bi person it’s really fucking cool to see more and more mainstream artists comfortable with their sexualities
@@fiawms for me it just feels nice to see someone like you be so open abt it and like yk, proud.
@@fiawms LMFAO okay good attempt on the "im so different, social norms dont affect me" but representation matters - this has been proven a million times already. this comment just further confirms the comfort in seeing the things you feel and experience are "normal" and not things to feel shame for
@@fiawms i put normal in quotations because nothing is normal and whats "normal" is constantly changing. im bi myself, so spare me the "different sexualities are normal" speech. this has absolutely nothing to do with homophobia and everything to do with the fact that it is comforting to see people in power, in music, in anywhere being openly gay or bisexual is comforting when youre used to all those people being in straight marriages. its not about "caring what celebrities do" or "being a fan". piss off with this offensive attitude
@@inge76 lol please just shut up. You can’t talk about facts without acknowledging that no 2 people are the same and different humans have different social responses
@@lunchablespizza7035 for the last time: representation matters. this is not a matter of opinion or different social norms or anything. its a scientific fact. google is free. people pointing out the comfort in representation is not weird. no matter how secure or unaffected you for some reason think you are. goodluck on this opinion though! its all yours bud
Bad Habits is one of those songs of a generation seriously it’s like the perfect pop song
gemini rights prob been my most listened to album this year everytime i listen to it i have a new favorite record off of it, its so addicting
Same Buttons Hit Different the more you listen🔥💯
Cody freestyle and give you the world😭🫶🫶🫶🫶
I've been a steve lacy fan since 2017 when he released his demo. I'm seeing him in concert in a few weeks and I'm excited as a mf
me too! his Chicago show. i cannot wait, ill prolly cry
@@qeturah9791 ima be at his Baltimore show 10/13 😩 I'm happy he's doing smaller venues bcus it's gonna be hella intimate
i have been listening to him for about 3-4 years and I'm disappointed that people haven't noticed him before. sure people loved dark red but he is honestly so talented and has to be one of the best music producers out here today.
Everyone that likes Steve Lacy, should also check out Ravyn Lenae who he has collaborated with and produced for many times (Especially Sticky, Skin Tight, 4 Leaf Clover, the whole "Crush" album basically...) - she's amazing!
yes! she’s incredible
That Uncut Gems clip is Golden 🤣
I fully agree with the "critics and interviewers only caring about sexuality" thing being super weird. Unfortunately, it's just what draws the most attention :/
Steve Lacy is great and hope his successes go even further.I can't believe he produced albums while he was a teenager is impressive.
Sure he wasn't the only person doing it before adulthood but that shows he has built experience with his craft. Also it annoys me once artists like him or Tyler the Creator come out, media press them on their sexuality in their music more than anything else.
Saw Steve live at Coachella 2022 where he played some songs off of Gemini Rights (when it still wasn’t released) and it was absolutely magical. If you can, attend one of his shows. He is a MUSICIAN! He played guitar, bass, and sang beautifully throughout the whole set. Peace
Steve is the kind of success story that encourages me as a underground artist with a small following. Seeing how he’s developed his skills and slowly blown up after seizing each and every opportunity he’s been giving has been inspirational! Mans has quickly become a mainstay in the industry and for good reason. Dude is too nice! I know if I put in the work, I can reach a larger audience some day too, but for now, I’m happy being a supporter. My turn will come too. Salute to Steve Lacy🔥
He is such an amazing artist and this video was brilliant thank you
This album is absolutely incredible. Truly a timeless masterpiece. I haven’t liked an album so much I know it from top to bottom by heart since Acid Rap (maybe A Seat at the Table too). Came out in a year with lots of other (very good) bigger name releases, but I hope as time passes Gemini Rights will be widely recognized for the work of art it truly is. Type of album that makes me wish I played & produced music myself for the sheer satisfaction of building something so perfect and sharing it with the world. Thank you Steve
Gemini rights is the best album so far. Even above kendricks.
I love this album, Buttons has me in a chokehold, especially the way he starts off that third verse 🥹
I am honestly so glad I found this video. The whole album is just so good. I love your take on it. And I couldn’t agree more with the things you say about each song lolol 😭 You literally have each thoughts I got. The groove of helmet, the “fucking yourself” line on static, the guitar solo at the end of sunshine 😩 And omg the influences of give you the world. I listened to that one nonstop because of the feel of it. 😌 Helmet ong my favorite track tho. Idk, it just always has me in the mood for it. But anyway shout out to you for making this vid. Loved it.
Thanks dude yeah there's just so many great moments on it
"Pride is the best song on damn" Duckworth, XXX, Element, Fear, Feel, all miles better than Pride.
nah
@@treboleekem499 ya.
Nah
dont forget DNA
I'm saying😭😭
encountered Bad Habit early July and I became obsessed, 'cause I'd just found out this girl I liked also liked me back but we ended up with different people. I was taking it at face value obviously. but then I heard to Static, that's when I became a fan. Like I listen to his full catalogue on Spotify at least once every week. It's not healthy.
\\
Can we expect a video about My Dear Melancholy and Trilogy by The Weeknd?
Helmet is my favorite on the album. The rain in the background, and the instrumental along with the subject matter of the song. It really spoke to me as someone whose been there before. That feeling of losing love for someone who you just can’t love anymore but still holding on. I’ve never seen a piece of work portray that in such a realistic way.
Is putting Khalid albums there with other 4 a joke lmao
💀
He made a classic for sure!
Had to exit when you said Ego Death was The Internet's first album. It was their first album with Steve. You will disrespect bops like Fastlane and Dontcha like that.
Him and Brent Faiyaz have two of the best albums of the year hands down
what you said about it having many textures and sounding like its from a 70's r&b album is the most factual thing ive ever heard. the most accurate summary of it ive ever heard.
i swear bad habit had like 152 million streams yesterday now it got 185 million lol
It’s crazy how I’ve listened to Steve for years and he’s just now getting hype
That’s crazy
LITERALLY LIKE HOW DID PEOPLE NOT KNOW HOW GOOD HE IS
I lowkey want him to myself still but highkey want him to win. Glad he's getting his flowers finally
Damn, no one cares🥱
0:17 bro tried to sneak in god did
Am I the only one that hears the cadence of Keith Sweat's Twisted cadence within Steve Lacy's Bad Habits?
your going crazy with the quality in these videos my man. great work 🤝
Thanks dude more otw
Mercury is far from having a bossa nova beat it's more Mexican like a bit mariachi than Bossa nova
I laughed when I saw a Dj Khaled album being associated with a good year for music
I have been a fan of Steve Lacy since 2017 and he has come a long way. I hate that his genius isn't truly recognized by new fans. All his albums have been amazing but this one is the ONE. I hope that he gets the recognition he deserves and not just fake fans who just recognize him for Bad Habit and the tik tok craze.
FEAR. is better than PRIDE. that is a fact
Videos like these make me wanna relisten to an album all over again! It’s so cool seeing people that admire Steve as much as I do. He’s so talented! Great video!
"Ego Death" was The Internet's 3rd album
Thank you for clarifying this. I was about to 😄 It was Steve’s first album playing with them.
I’ve been following Steve’s career since December 2016. I’m so proud of him. He makes such good music and he’s super sweet.
He’s one of my inspirations. Steve is so dope and inspiring.
if you think steve lacy should have album of the year not only are u wrong, ur insanely out of touch with the music scene outside mainstream shit. Not saying his music is bad, but i honestly expected more from this album.
JID has album of the year, and FEAR is the best song on DAMN, you have weird takes
I have this bad habbit of waiting for my favourite artists to drop something and then not having the energy to listen to it.
I think my favourite song from him would be Mercury, there's something about it I can't put into words
as a bisexual man literally you’re doing the same exact thing that the interviewers are doing, you put “the genius behind steve lacy” but made a big deal about his sexuality for 5 minutes. it shouldnt matter whether hes talking about his sexuality in his songs or not, his music has been beautiful for years same with T, and frank. whether they are talking about kissing white boys or “the D”. so disappointing, thought this was gonna be a rightful steve praise vid but nope, just masked homophobia
he talked about his sexuality for like 1 minute and 10 seconds and said nothing homophobic 😭😭just made shit up
Mentioning bisexuality for a minute does not equal bi/homophobia and this is coming from someone who is also bisexual. Save the hysterics and fake outrage for Twitter
I knew about Steve Lacy, but I don’t like his music
He is so so talented I'm so happy he came back when he did with this amazing project I loved him in the internet so happy him and Syd are doing amazing and other members
gemini rights and renaissance by beyonce are my two favorite albums of the year. have u listened to renaissance yet? i would love for you to do a deep dive on it!
Yea I listened to it when it came out but I’ll have to revisit
Who is this?
Steve Lacy
1.The forever story
2.Mr. Morale & Big steppers
3.GeminiRights
how did anyone think gemini rights was a coming out album? it’s clearly about break ups apollo xxi was his “coming out” album
im a huge fan of steve but gemini rights isnt AOTY worthy, i think ants from up there and angels and queens are worth the title... but theyre not popular so they wont win so in the end, GEMINI RIGHTS FOR AOTY
“It sounds like some vintage Marvin Gaye and Al green shit” no it sounds like early Prince 1979 self titled album, (Prince)
im glad hes finally blowing up, but ngl apollo and Lo-Fis IMO, are way better projects. If you guys like the guitar solo on sunshine listen to lay me down on apollo. Ur ears will quite literally have an orgasm. headphone recommended.
I appreciate your love for music.
POV: me being shocked that you said you ain't gay
candy grapes by foushee and steve lacy is also insane
Great video, bruther.
No need to worry about cancellation, you were perfectly tasteful. Not that I’m a fa….I mean gay dude.
When you said this was a very good year for music and show that DJ Khaled album cover... hell nah, man. Instant dislike.
DJ Khaled as example of great music this year?? Lost your credibility in 20 secs mate.
Glad I found out before him before he really blew up lol
0:17 Since when was Dj khaled's album one of the best?Sure there was some good tracks but the rest was mediocre.
CBUM
Just heard Steve on SNL...I love his music. It has a 70s bluesy feel.
i know Steve Lacy since forever and he s always been on top of the game. I also feel sad cuz tik tok did its thing, but now he gets the recognition he deserves.
This is the video i never knew i wanted to watch
there were plenty of artists in pop over the decades that were pretty obviously gay, and they just gave people reviews on musical analysis instead of investigating if they were gay, or looking for gay hinted in the lyrics. it is kinda silly how bad music reviews can be right now
Super disappointed that god did was shown for best albums of the year 🙁 god did more like god mid…. Gottem
Literally this whole album breakdown reminds me of Igor and it’s almost like he took tips from Tyler or something
Loved the album, it’s good but it’s definitely not album of the year this year !
Another rising artist to watch out for.
look up steve lacy racist, breaks my heart, loved him so much
I’ve heard one of his song before but I never tried to know more of him, until this year, I heard more songs and definitely he is now one of my favorite artists
why is the script written as if your opinions are objective truths lol
6:54 I *literally* said the same thing, omg. That song is the Al Green oldie for me
You explain a album and songs so much better than these actual critics .
Nah fr pride isn’t the best song on damn. And gemini rights was mid
The forever story better than Mr morale and so is 2000
Pausing the video to go listen to the album again lmao
I don't get the hype for this album lmao
INLY not mentioned in best of this yr?
static & cody freestyle are better than sunshine
im sorry but pride is NOT the best song on damn
Gemeni Rights is beautiful.
Duckworth is the best song on Damn
Been a fan since his part on 911 by Tyler The Creator. Knew he'd be huge
GOD DID
Yeah, he’s talented but there’s lots of talented people who never make it
Okay, what does that have to do with Steve Lacy lol. Bro deserves the hype and love, there’ll always be people trying to listen to those unheard artists
FUCK THANK YOU SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY ACKNOWLEDGES SUNSHINE IT'S SO GOOD IT'S AMAZING LIKE OMG
such a great video, man
man really said "this has been a good year for music so far" and put the DJ KHALED COVER BRUH
you've convinced me to give the album a go.
Goat
alright I'm sold
