    I have this car exact car and from a guy who changes cars way to frequently, this one is a keeper. It is a pleasure to drive. I am impressed with it nearly daily. Power is ample for a sedan and fuel economy in my opinion is excellent given the power it has on tap. Jump into traffic and the traction control fights to keep the front tires planted. Handles better than any sedan ive ever owned as well. Its quiet yet throaty when you tromp on it. Keep your eye on the used market. I picked this up 1 year old with 6300 miles on it for 23K in as new condition. You wont be disappointed.

      The Hemi is tens of thousands of dollars more and then you have to fuel it and insure it and maintain it and you’ve got every other driver either wanting to race you or thinking you’re a douchebag (because you likely are).
      And the number of cars you will lose to is still almost as high as the ones you’ll win against.
      And who buys this car to race? Fucking Dodge owners... so insecure. That’s why you had to shell out for an R/T because the Impala would wax the SXT or GT.

    bring back the Impala SS

  • @76carmel
    @76carmel 9 лет назад +7

    Steve -- the reason why the gas mileage isn't as good as Toyota Avalon is because the 3.6L V-6 has 305 hp, while the others are 290 hp and under, except for the Nissan Maxima, which has 300 horses, but it's hooked up with their CVT, thus getting better mileage.

    • @stevehammes

      +Billy Sou Yes, that's right. The Impala feels darn fast.

    • @Angus576
      @Angus576 8 лет назад +3

      +Billy Sou Exactly. Remember this is the same engine the V6 Camero has. For it's size the car is fast and on the highway you can do over 100 and it feels like you are going 55. Quiet and comfortable ride that has plenty of power. I am averaging the same MPG with my V6 305hp engine that I did with my previous car that had a 4 179hp engine. It's all about how you drive. I drive mostly city miles and I am heavy footed.

      Glenn Sandagata Glenn, what was your average?

    • @Angus576
      @Angus576 8 лет назад

      +Billy Sou I'm averaging 18 mpg. But I drive 95% city in a town with constant stop and start. My 2010 Malibu with the I4 got around the same. Plus I have a lead foot. When I took a 200 mile highway drive I was getting mid 20s.

      Of you are saying that the older ones are better I can completely agree. They just aren't that fun of cars anymore. They could have the regular models like they do not but they never touch v8 engines or rwd or awd as options for a sport model. I honestly think that with all of the new tech that goes into a camaro that can outrun a new porsche it could be an amazing car not only on the streets but possibly on the track too.

    • @ericseminole8992
      @ericseminole8992 8 лет назад

      no chance you could do that. FYI the wheels alone are painted and have a clear coat over the black...much like the body. No plasti-dip junk. I know because I own one of the very first 2015 Chevy Impala Midnight Editions. Check me here on RUclips for yourself.

      +Eric Seminole you can get aftermarket rims that have more offset making it look even more aggressive plus the window tint for the same price as what you paid though , sick car dont get me wrong but going the aftermarket way will give you the best look

    $39k? WOW, the original Lexus LS was way less than that.

    • @76carmel
      @76carmel 9 лет назад

      +pedrof830 The first Lexus LS was $35k in 1990 which in today's money may be around $55-60k (those who adjust for inflation, please reply). However, in the full-sized segment (Impala, Kia Cadenza, Hyundai Azera, Dodge Charger, Toyota Avalon, Ford Taurus, Nissan Maxima), this Impala is far and away the best in class. I see a lot of Impalas around my area, around Indianapolis.

      Billy Sou
      I did ride in one and if I had been blindfolded, I would have sworn I was riding a high-end luxury car. You're right about the inflation thing, just too bad that most folks' take home pay has not kept up with the increase in car prices.

    • @Angus576
      @Angus576 8 лет назад

      +pedrof830 That's MSRP in the real world you can get that down to 34-36k. My 2015 Impala was $36 and I paid 30k after negotiations

    • @rantanamo
      @rantanamo 8 лет назад

      +Billy Sou you're about right. Adjusted for inflation, the Impala is almost exactly what it was in 1993. The funny thing is, that was an SS with souped up performance, while this is a cruiser, but a cruiser that is faster and quicker with the 3.6.

    Had a ride with a rented 2016 Impala today for a business ride. I was very disappointed with how the car reacted to side winds. And no, the renting company did not put cheap tires on the car so this is no excuse. The gas mileage ain't impressive at all and I really had the impression to drive a 90s car. The Chevy Volt is much funnier to drive.
    Overall, I was very disappointed and would never recommend that car to anybody. In this category, the VW Passat does a much better job.

    Great, only 34,000$US. Holy crap and a half. Are they selling electronics or car? Make with a lot of plastic trim in different color, check the roof line and the back pillar »» it look like: Ok the day is over, ship it like it. Biggest seller compare to Avalon Who own an Avalon? and chrysler 300 together. Who own a Chrysler 300 dating from more than 10 years model? Not to hard to beat. Another trap from GM. 34.000$US. i will buy a use Mercedes for the same price or an Audi with a lot of style not a lot of plastic add to an old police impala.

      Audi....not lot of plastic?? what era you live in. No car these days has full metal bumpers unless you pay,for a decent truck.
      You bash a car you never driven before. It is the typical none relevant commentators like yourself. That make none relevant retorts about shit you know nothing about.
      ohhh and enjoy your plastic audi

      +Steve W sure with no options you could get some really basic buicks or Lincolns... but, any ford, Chrysler, or Toyota will reach that price with some options easily, its not the most expensive in its class... keep that in mind.

      +Steve W I own an almost loaded 2015 Impala. Great car and same money or less as it's direct competition. Remember a base 20k car can turn into a 36k loaded car. I've driven alot of cars including ones that cost over 100k and the Impala is one of the best rides I've driven. Very good car and worth the money.

      +Glenn Sandagata Ditt Glenn, I have the new style 2014 LTZ with all but 2 options. It is super reliable, fuel mileage is always better than EPA estimates. I averaged 29 MPG on a 2,000 trip from SLC to Port Angeles WA and back. It is very comfortable on long trips, handles great and instills a great deal of confidence behind the wheel. It has PLENTY of power and the Bose sound system is outstanding. Plus I bought it on end of year 20% off sale, paid $32K which is an outstanding deal. There has been one recall for a zero-point calibration on the front passenger seat. It took the dealer 5 minutes to recalibrate it. No other recalls.
      Some people still don't realize the new Impala is a whole new car from the old Impala Limited fleet/rental but they haven't done their homework. Check any youtube review and do not overlook the fact that Consumer Reports rated the new 2014 Impala higher than any other full size sedan except the Tesla S and a $100K BMW. As Glenn states, you have to spend more than twice the money to get a better car. You can get nearly everything the Cadillac XTS has minus the bling for $20K less. The Impala 3.6L V6 and drive-train are same as the XTS.
      I do like the look of the Midnight Edition, but I like my Tricoat Crystal Red better, best color in my opinion for the Impala.
      A few things I don't like are: Chrome mirrors, too much bling for my liking. I plan on painting them same red as the car. Chrome strip over the blue interior accent light on dash reflects sunlight like a mirror, can be obnoxious. Rear visibility is not that good with the high rear deck. But the backup camera takes care of that. The limited visibility took some getting used to. Some people don't like the tail lights. Maybe Chevy could have made them look more like a Camaro. The front end is very aggressive and looks great. My financial adviser has the same car, he says it looks like a Camaro ate a Malibu. Not a bad description.
      I did a lot of research before I bought my car. I initially wanted the XTS but after reading and watching the glowing Impala LTZ reviews, I found the car I wanted and got it for the price I wanted. I am very happy with mine.

      +Steve W Going by inflation, this car is priced at the level of the famed 1993 Impala SS, but performs better, is quicker and has far more safety and technology. If anything its a bargain.
