The 77s weren't speed demons like the previous ones but has a very nice styled body, very comfortable, handled decently, and had enough power for the interstates. Love these things. This is a great car here. Not many left. Sure wish they made these still - exactly the same - no retro crap.
I owned one for 4 years back in the lates 80's driving all over the US & Canada. It ran like a dream, only items changed were the battery and oil. Man wish i'd kept it.
Yes, this was a great car. Sad thing was, I couldn't find a buyer in the US for it. But a guy in Norway sure liked it and stepped up price-wise. Over the years I've found that there are a lot of Mopar fans in the Scandinavian countries.
Had a ‘76 Royal Monaco, 2 door hardtop, 360 engine, powder blue, dark blue full vinyl top, white leather-like vinyl seats. It was not the Brouham as you had here. The car could do 110 mph without hesitation and cruise at 80 85 mph all day if I let it. Actually figured out the gas mileage on a drove to Ottawa and cruised at that speed all the way,. It worked out to about 25 mpg however that was to an imperial gallon, not the smaller U.S gallon. The tiny little white box on the firewall, it is a ballistic resistor. Something I think any Chrysler owner from the period would probably be familiar with as it could fail anytime without any warning. I always had a spare one in the glove compartment. Cheap insurance for a buck ninety nine! Cheers🍻🇨🇦🇺🇸👍
My dad had one. I got to drive it. It was a Mexican built one (lived in Mexico City at the time), had the 360 engine with no smog devices. It ran great and was quick for its size.
my dad owned a 1977 dodge royal monaco sedan back in the day...nice riding(suspension was a little soft tho since it was a luxury type vehicle..)...360 v8 with thermo quad carb 4bbl...
que suavidad al manejarlo, silencioso , es como estar en nuves,no se oye el motor,no se sienten los baches , jamas sera superado,el ya tiene todo lo que puede tener un auto de lujo
That's why Chrysler had to be bailed out. They had no small cars of their own, just rebadged Mitsubishi's, until they brought the Horizon over from their French division (which they promptly sold due to their financial situation in the late 70's.)
@@davidallen5776 The Valiant/Dart was ancient and had been cancelled by the time Chrysler got in really deep doo-doo. The Aspen/Volare were mid-sized and terrible to boot, with their poor quality contributing to Chrysler's woes.

Hello. I own a 1977 dodge royal monaco (it's a base model. But it starts every day, even when it's negative degrees) and is my daily driver which I absolutely love as much I love my grandson. I am running into the issue of not being able to find parts. For example, the driver side door handle broke and I can't find a replacement part around town or on eBay. Also, the motor which flips the headlights is no longer working and can not find a part. Do you have any suggestions or can you steer me in the right direction. Thank you for your time.

@@Cascadiaclassic Apparently that car was well maintained. I've driven Chrysler cars for years. If you take good care of your Chrysler, it will take good care of you.
fuel economy in the double digits....low double digits to be sure, but you could get 12 city, 17 highway if you tried to drive conservatively. Drive 70 mph, down to 15 mpg. 55 mph, 17 mpg.
I’m pretty sure if you tboned a Kia with this it would tear the Kia open like a sardine can. As long as you’re wearing a seatbelt in this tank you’d fare pretty well in an accident. Road deaths were more common back then because nobody wore seatbelts and drunk driving was fairly commonplace and there weren’t many consequences unless someone was killed or severely injured. If you were stopped back then the cops would usually just drive you home.

I'm in Totally agreement with you on that. I'm 68 years old and retired and would love doing a Sunday drive just cruising in it !😃
These C-body’s rode so nice you could never tell if something was wrong with car.

Heaviest doors when parked facing uphill! Had a 76! Great highway cruiser!

Love and miss that bouncy suspension, 2 finger steering and beautiful interior color(s)...

I bet! They seem to be super rare.

My favorite car from late 70's with Mark V and coupe de villa
Love those WIDE bench seats. To this day I don't care for bucket seats.

BEAUTIFUL CAR. I WONDER HOW IT IS CALLED ROYAL MONACO WHILE A SPORTY STEERING WHEEL IS MOUNTED ON IT !!!
Optional wheel. I think they had 3 different styles. 2 for certain . I have a brochure
this car has some very rare options
Es el único de los autos mopar que no conduje y uno de los que más me gustan se ve muy confortable y lujoso parece sacado de agencia
Love my C-Body’s!
Just like our car!
Would have been glad to get one brand new. Take it on a long haul.
Beautiful car. But I watched the full 5 min 48 hoping for a full view of the glorious hidden headlights.
Three-speed Torqueflite automatic and a big V8...now, that's vintage full-size Mopar! BTW, the seat belt light and buzzer are missing!
easy to un plug
They LOVE cars like this in Germany.
Norway, too! That's where the car is now.

Looks like the same steering wheel except for the center Medallion that I had in my 77 Cordoba
The good ole lean burn
This was my first car!
I need to change the engine gasket, I want the torque for the bolts before opening. It's dodge royal monaco 1977
