I worked for Phoenix for around 7 years, cool seeing this video.I loved assembling these, running the tool bender, building bearings, painting ..all of it.
Wow, that harrow!! That thing is massive!! Sounds like you are happy with the way it worked the ground! Those drone shots were amazing, to see it tare through the cornstalks that was great! So is it a compliment or replacement for the do all? I guess every situation, and ground type play a factor in how well it works 🤔🧐 Looking fwd to seeing it in the future! If those yellow top weeds were that high, it seems it worked great in the bottom land for you to plant!! Thank you sir for bringing us along! I saw him a few times passed out there on ya while filming 🤣🤣🤣 Hope all is going well! 👍😁
Na we are still keeping the do-all. There will be times we have to get more aggressive than what the harrow is doing. We bough this mostly for airing out these bottoms but still trying to keep them "kind of notill"
We would run the cultimulcher behind the planter enough to pack the seed down in the pickle ground if it was particularly dry making sure to keep the teeth from digging in.
If I ain't bad wrong,an I usually am, the phillips harrow was sold at deere dealerships an phenoix harrow was at the caseih dealerships. But either way they make a great seed bed. Stay safe fellas an corn dog. I love it because I usta do my daddy same way.
How's the roller harrow do for ground prep compared to how y'all usually prep ground? It looked like it did a nice job, rolled right through the mud without leaving tracts
I would say 2 trips wit the harrow is equivalent to one trip with the do-all. I like how it sized the cornstalks. We did run it behind the disc. It does a lot better on hard ground than worked but did an ok job to get us by while our do-all was down. That is the best part about it is being able to pull it through the mud without dragging any dirt out making the hole worse.
I shoot for an inch but we got these a little too deep. It is a little harder to maintain a consistent depth with a drill. We did some work on our drill and was consistently holding about an 1" to 1.25" depth.
@@jonathanerwin6841 We planted all 30 inch row soybeans until we bought our first Case IH min-till drill in 2016. When we bought the 1560 Deere drill in 2018 we decided to start drilling all our soybeans.

That's cool.
That old phoenix harrow is just like a diamond disc. Doing a good job.
I was pretty impressed with it. I would love to have a small diamond disc though.
First time I ran tractor using the satellite I didn't know what to think or react but it dose help with planting crops
I thought auto steer was the stupidest idea ever when it first came out. Now I want it in everything we own.
Catching up on videos again.

@@DylanJoyceFarms I understand thank you for the info!!

We had a Case IH drill that we had a remlinger harrow behind. It did a really nice job. Sometimes I wish this John Deere had one.
Phenix harrow is good tool be sure you grease the wheel casters really good
We have really enjoyed using it so far.

The only advantage I see to a Phillips is the way it folds. Thats interesting I never though about the dealership thing.

Won't be long and you will be sleeping in the truck watching corn dog planting
How did you like the harrow?
Looks like it would be the thing in the fall to knock down corn stalks and get cover crop going.
I like it. Still learning how to operate it properly. Makes a nice seedbed if you run it twice.
@@DylanJoyceFarms if you can could you show a close up of the ground and the job its doing sometime
Can you still gets parts for that thing? Used to be quite a few of them around up here in eastern ND
All the bearings can be bought at a parts house. Not really a lot on it to give trouble.
Yeah we just have to to do the same thing on our GPS
I think mine has been a little more accurate since I swapped satallites.
How deep do you plant your beans? I have a Great Plains six foot no till and have one heck of a time holding one to one and one half inch depth.

Are you drilling on 15” this year?
Yes we are going to 15” rows to save on seed costs. Backing down from drilled beans at 160000, to 15” at 140000. Going to have 30s and 15s this year.
We plant all 30" beans we do really good with them

Trimble will not support your gps because it is old and they want you to buy new.
This was happening even when the unit was brand new.
Tell Robert to talk more
He's been doing better.
Why do you just get a Kelly diamond harrow and quit foolin with imitations
Send me $80000 for a new one and I'll get right on it hoss.
