  • Join us on an extraordinary and emotional journey as we bring Richard Rossi's lifelong dream to fruition. This captivating video tells the heartfelt story of Richard, a WWII veteran, and his best friend, Robert Bailey, who rests in peace in Normandy.
In this touching video, we recount the events that unfolded after our initial phone call with Richard in April. As we introduced ourselves and learned about Richard's service, he revealed that he had never returned to Normandy to visit his best friend's grave.
Moved by Richard's desire, we offered to make his dream of visiting Bailey's grave in Normandy a reality. Overcoming the first hurdle, we discussed the logistics and realized Richard's passport had expired. Undeterred, we embarked on a mission to help him renew it.
In our relentless pursuit to make Richard's dream a reality, we contacted Congressman Brian Mast's office. We shared the full extent of the circumstances and the critical need for passport renewal, seeking their valuable assistance. Through our collective efforts, we successfully secured the renewed passport.
Finally, on June 2nd, after months of anticipation, Richard's dream becomes a reality. We witness a moment of profound closure and remembrance as Richard kneels at Bailey's grave, honoring his friend's sacrifice and fulfilling a promise that had been 79 years in the making. The emotions that fill the air are indescribable, as we recognize the immense significance of this act. We share with Richard the belief that a soldier dies twice - once on the battlefield and again when their name is spoken for the last time. Through this visit, Bailey's memory is forever preserved, known by thousands who have heard and shared his story.
This journey encapsulates the very core of our mission - to ensure that no fallen hero is forgotten. As Richard kneels before his friend's grave, we witness the ultimate closure, knowing that Bailey can now rest in eternal peace, having been visited by the one person who loved him the most - Richard. This is a story of friendship, sacrifice, and the enduring power of remembrance.
Thank you Delta Air Lines and @michelinman for partnering with us to make this possible!

There's an extraordinary "Dr. Who" scene etched in my memory. During WW II little girl is talking to the current companion, and girl has accepted she's a time traveler. "But you don't look German," the kid says. "Oh my dear we WON." Girl has a harder time accepting that than believing in time travel. Stunning. She'd lived in the wreckage and hunger of London for almost her whole memory. Every family member dead.
    "Oh my dear, we WON."
It's easy to forget the end of the war wasn't a foregone conclusion.

We're a group of veterans including children of WW2 vets who served in the 82nd in WW2 a d we research the history of the 82nd. One of our fathers was on a trip with Best Defense. This weekend we commended on Facebook about why vets mourning at graves was filmeditie and used a promotion material. We instantly got a block from best defense. This is not the first time a veteran unfriendly incident happend. A year ago a member of best defense called a young veteran 'unworthy to serve his country' online.

????? This is very confusing to me. Please send me an email to austin@bdf.org and explain what you are talking about, because I don't understand anything you have just referenced.
