I didn't realise the pc software was so good. Just a note , set the frequency range then calibrate the VNA , if you change the frequency range then calibrate again .

Hello Gary , Cheers for the video. You changed the frequency for your sweep without re-calibrating. I was led to believe that every change in frequency a re-cal had to be done ? Cheers 73's Kev
Hi, I'm looking for a pocket VNA which can support upto 7.2Ghz. Any recommendations? And also a spectrum analyzer.
Would have been nice to see the setup and usage on the touch screen display, being a portable piece of equipment, its probably unlikely I will have a Laptop or PC in the field! The NanoVNA should sell itself not the PC software.
Not so easy to video the LCD screen tho, I tried to express my enthusiasm and genuine excitement for a very useful thing.. I cant win them all :-( Gaz
hello! when calibrating the device, you use the load from the kit... are you sure that this load retains only the active resistance completely in the entire frequency range? Have you tested this load on a third-party device that you trust? After all, the fact is that Chinese friends sell loads separately for about 1.5-2 $ and, judging by the reviews, they do not work above 30-100mhz. 73!

- I don't see the option to save the configuration anywhere. I use only one measurement mode and the same frequency from and to. Does the firmware have this option? Setting all parameters after shutdown is very laborious. Does the firmware have this option?
- who is the manufacturer and does this device have technical support?
- where is the opensource program code to download?

No sorry, I dont have one of the rain forest ones, I can say this is the V2 with lots of improvements over the original open source project. Lots of the more affordable versions are much earlier versions of the design.. hope that helps.. Gaz
Just got mine - nice little unit. Just one thing - is it supposed to measure vSWR above 30Mhz, as mine seems to stop at that frequency? I've RTFM and nothing seems to jump out at me. I can set spans, but no SWR data above 30Mhz.

@@TheGazLab I recalibrated, making sure that I had the full frequency range up to 3 Ghz selected. Wierd, as a calibration was the very first thing I did when I switched the unit on.
@@jim_afcb8006 Yes I had same issue and have sussed out the calibration groups, its unique :-)
Us Guys tend to not read the "whole" instruction manual. 🤣

This unit is from a seperate company, built from open source design.
You need to advertise this better. It looks at first glance like the old cheaper 900MHz version, though clearly it isn't. It's a development of the 3.5 GHz one with some improvements like a metal case and larger screen and perhaps other modifications too. I can tell from the packaging where it comes from, just like the tinySA. It would be nice to have N-types instead of SMA as they are a bit more robust.
agreed Mike, I have learned and awful lot about the development journey of this product from its beginnings as an open source project from ttrf to the various offshoots to the enhanced versions which this is one of the main two.. I'm really excited by this product and have high hopes for more and more value for money versions for the future, hence the fairly quick overview... I will do a bit more shortly I am speaking with the developers now gathering as much info for you guys as I can.. all the best.. Gaz
