Fascinating to see this from the other side, Ne5 was a fantastic move. I'd like to claim my exchange sacrifice was a piece of fine judgement but I'd actually just forgotten the Rook arrived on f1 after castling!
Great “live action” in-game commentary. Had me cracking up when he caught himself saying, “well I do know some people who enjoy back spankers.” Shows you the entire range of the internal monologue that can go on over the chess board, and that he’s having fun in his head while playing. I bet there’s been some hilarious stuff said up there, internally, over the years. I could just imagine sitting across from this player and seeing him grin to himself and wondering if he’s just found a good move, but really he’s just thinking, “well, there are some people who do like back spankers.”
Very interesting game you brike the b finegold ' s first rules never play f6 that s funny every time i need or want to play pawn f6 i remember finegold ' s first rule then i think that if your oponent takes your bishop on b4 it would be his best move because he takes back a piece and his queen is protecting e1 so your queen can t go on e1 to checkmate thanks and regards from france
I find this opening fascinating. Makes me thing of Dance-Dance Counter Revolution as well :) Is Merry Hat Man a pun on Mary Hartman? ( a weird US soap opera from the 1970s)
It is a very exciting opening to play. I know Lawrence Trent has made a DVD on the opening for ChessBase. Might be worth getting to learn the ideas more.
In this game despite your high accuracy 98% your processor is contradicting your queen's on b3 which is the best move according to my processing unit..some programs software are using the whole chess encyclopedia with all variations. And other software are missing are missing quiet few variations.
Ginger is like me. Not a huge sports fan, but likes to watch interesting stuff like Snooker. Played pool for 30 years or so in the US, before giving up due to ... life getting in the way of fun. But I do love watching skateboarding, and Curling on TV. I feel like I should subscribe to the Obscure Sports Quarterly :)
Of course Simon won because he is the stronger player, but I don't think e4 is a great way to play against the Albin, I think Nf3 followed by a3 to control the key b4 square just gives white a big advantage
Yes, you're probably right there. The only issue with that is that you must learn many more variations. It is often key to weigh up lots of theory, which is probably better with simple lines which are still ok.
I dont agree with the bishop pair thing, I mean I am about 1500 and I am winning more games utilizing it if I can (nothing wrong to exchange it in said position tho)
@@GingerGM I do in quick time controls, cause it's easier for my opponent to blunder into a knight fork than a bishop pin/skewer, lol. But in long time controls, especially as a player who often fianchettos, I really am attached to my bishops.
Ginger, Ben is making so much fun of you, every 10 minutes of his hours long videos he drops a "joke" about you.. How he (Ben) should pay more attention vs 2000 rated than playing gingregm and so on so on... Maybe 3rd final match vs him soon?
Chess.com engine is so bad man, its full of mistakes, it tells you you made lots of mistakes, then when you go through the correct line it suggests, it's not that different from the one you played anyway ... Chess.com is garbage !!!
It's a new feature, and yeah, it's not so good. If you turn on the analysis lines and go through your game that way, it's fine, of course; but the report function just goes way too fast and doesn't do enough depth on the moves. Often it will say I made a mistake, but then, after waiting five seconds, the Stockfish lines show that my move was best. To reiterate, the engine is fine, but the report function should take longer, probably several minutes for a normal game. They should really make that an option.
so satisfying to see the mate calculated then played out on board.
Yea true
Very rare when that happens. :)

You played well! I also make unintentional positional sacrifices.
@@ym276 A bit under, around 2070 I think
Martyn Hamer is that 2070 USCF?
Y M yeah that’s even more impressive
That's my FIDE rating. Think USCF ratings are a bit higher than FIDE ratings but not certain

Excellent game by Ginger. He played active, enterprising moves and made the most of the tactical opportunities that arose.
I have been using the London system game based on your short RUclips video. And winning thanks.
Get the Dee-vay-dee. It's a goldmine.
Cool!
the queen showing off her dance moves at the ending there. lovely mate
The Queen did me proud!
Beautiful stuff
This is what I love!! Welcome back Simon !
Thanks :)
Nice game, congrats.
Albin is much more positional than I thought
Would love to play some chess and snooker with you Simon. Maybe we can team up against Ronnie.
Solid stuff mate
Solidddd
i just love the phrase THE ALBIN COUNTER GAMBIT! x
That was so good an explanation, half-ginger 😁
lol
To me it seems the back spanker is very painful! Your first mate was Morphy-like! Greetings from Berlin!
Some good advice there, Simon
Good to hear.

Who cares about the bishop pair... love it
I am no Magnus.
Aanand alsolike to play with one bishop and knight

And of course Snooker is a sport. I would say that the WC is physically and mentally more brutal and demanding as many other sports can get.
We do sound similar!
Simon was using an engine!
I am an engine!

I agree to that. Playing d4,c4,de,e4,f4 just feels extremely s-l-o-w to me.

Guess it a personal thing. Some (albeit rare) players seemed to prefer the Knights. Like Chigorin and Morozevich.

I did not appreciate the talk about the bishop pair not being an advantage below the SGM level! Fake news!
That is my experience. Could be wrong.
Never heard that in my life, even at low elo you can sometimes get a rook for a bishop if you have the pair and your opponent doesn't.
wow!!!!!!!!
ugh facebook. You should get a steemit account and post your updates there.
Yeah I hate FaceBook, but needs must...
Chess, snooker, arrows.
Paradise, maybe with a beer as well.

Ginger GM nowadays more of a grey GM
What is that supposed to mean? He's still ginger
Not yet!
Play the black lion
Hard to do that against 1 d4...
@@GingerGM against e4 please, I am searching for a secret defence or weapon against e4 so if you can please tell me something to play🤗🤗

I find it a very useful tool. It has the advantage of pointing out those obvious mistakes. At least that way you shouldn't make the same error twice!
