The feedback asking for one for Ultima immediately made me decide I'll do the same for any other series I do. Not everyone likes a playlist, so who am I to say no? :P
This video popped up in my feed. Thank you very much. New content about Legacy of Kain is always appreciated. And apparently this was a series combined into one? Thank you very much for that as well.
Thanks for watching! I tend to do a series of games one at a time, and once finished, make a compilation such as this, since during the Ultima series it became quite clear there were a lot of people who preferred a compilation instead of a playlist. So who am I to argue? :P
This is an incredible retrospective. I enjoyed every second of it. Thank you for taking the time to revisit such an incredible series. The story of the Legacy of Kain games has inspired me and has provided me with lots of inspiration to have hope in even the darkest moments. That closing quote of Defiance when Kain finally finds hope is so meaningful to me. So thank you kind sir for this video. I have subscribed to your channel and can't wait to watch more of your content.
Thank you for those kind words. I very much agree, and like the ending of Defiance. Having heard of many people who feel like it's inconclusive and bad, I'm glad to have heard of more people who resonate with the ending's message.

53:15 the letter box had two jobs, both of which it did well at the time. It did add a feeling of cinema to their in-game cinematics, as in the 4:3 era that was common for home releases of made for movie theather movies to have letter box since the aspect ratio is different. Subconsciously, letterbox felt more like cinema, and you're already using the lower quality in game graphics rather than higher definition pre-render, it helped with the vibe. If you were alive in that era, chances are you'd have that strong association too, you see that in other games from the 90s too like the original resident evil. This also served its second more practical purpose, which is to communicate that it is in fact a cinematic in spite of the use of game graphics and you're not in control. Letterbox = it is on auto, no letterbox = you might have to do some inputing there.
1:10:48 i discovered this the other day he's like that because of the fact that he had the poorest poorest portion of kains gift to the life between life and death is very thin
Love these games. Soul Reaver’s opening intro cinematic made such an impression on me at a formative age that in my head the Legacy of Kain games are on a par with Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films. But as much as I love them, and want them to be available for everyone to play them today, I don’t want a continuation. I know there are loose ends and a few plot holes, yet I find the ending of Defiance to suit the series better than any scenario of Kain destroying his enemies. That’s not as interesting to me personally as the story of Kain regaining a sense of hope.
My theory regarding Kain, is not that his evolution stagnated, but once he had condemned Raziel to his fate, he utilized one of Moebius' time streaming devices, jumping forward in time to await Raziel's resurrection and set the proverbial wheels in motion.
From a gameplay perspective, I tend to want to return to that most often, despite some of the clunkiness. It really feels like a more dark Zelda game, in a way.
@@rikybj0276 Because the changing of the fate of Soul Reaver at the end of Soul Reaver 2 didn't only create a new future, but also changed the past to ensure things would end up a certain way. It's the waves of time rearranging itself in SR2. BO2 shows this new past.

I never played the first game! They need to re-port all to modern platforms (using DC version of Soul Reaver 1 for example), current PC versions need fan patches to even work.
Indeed! For me, the PC versions "work", depending on which PC I use. For example, Soul Reaver 2 doesn't even launch on my desktop, but does on my laptop. The fan patches are almost a necessity, and at the very least, GOG should talk with the mod developers and have those implemented by default to have wider modern PC support. That at least would be a band aid in case Embracer doesn't care enough to re-port the games.
Some of the greatest voice acting in computer games.
It was very enjoyable to look back on this series, great video.
Agreed, and thank you!
Thank you for combining all your videos into one, it'll be something good to listen to in the background like the ultima one.
