    I love the colors of the cabinet in your office. I wouldn't have chosen them myself but somehow they work together and it might be a shame just to do cream and black.

      I love it too. I just inherited a number of pieces from my parents that are early 70s Danish modern teak and it would be perfect in my home in those colours.

      Like the vintage bookcase...would personally simply eliminate the ORANGE doors & leave 2 doorless
      cubicles.
      Alternatively...you could make doors REVERSIBLE
      ...simply finish backside in colors of your choosing
      & apply similar custom wood " handles"!

      @@ArvinOlano Or being that the doors are removable why not try putting the two black doors together and the two green doors and the two red-orange ones together… idk play with it a bit and if you can’t live with it then do whatever makes you love this funky yet functional piece ❤

    Please keep the vintage piece with the sliding doors as is. Your home can support a piece with color. And it's so iconic as is. Changing the color scheme to neutral is going to water it down sooooooo much. 🤔

      You’re so right. I think once all his renovations are done to bring the house back to Midcentury, the cabinet will fit right in. I love Arvin but I’d have to agree, don’t change it!

    • @juliedubberley1192
      @juliedubberley1192 9 месяцев назад +47

      The colour combination is integral to the design of the cabinet. If you customise it you will change the integrity as a period piece which was celebrating bold colour. 😢

      One splash of color but some people have adverse reactions to certain colors so it may always bug him.

    • @sectionalsofa
      @sectionalsofa 9 месяцев назад +14

      As I know Arvin knows, It's possible to make something work by adding rather than subtracting. If he adds some yellow, aqua and orange in other areas of the room, your eye will travel around and the piece may no longer look out of place. But I understand, that it's not his go-to color preference.

    • @deborahlundy6892

      I love the colorful vintage cabinet. Changing the color would make it just an ordinary cabinet. It was built that way for a reason and you are someone who thinks outside the box and so creative. You were drawn to that cabinet and color as is for a reason, I love it just the way it is.

  • @sectionalsofa

    Your place is looking magically beautiful. Don't change the vintage cabinet, or it will loose it's magic. Toning the cabinet done will make it look cheap. Right now you have a great focal point for the area. You have a great eye!

      The vintage fabric is a soft muted color which looks so Very good as any original material makes a vintage piece more valuable especially when it's in great shape... Just fix the broken leg and Think of adding some tapestries or a landscape mural by bringing in these neutrals onto the wall by murals is a great way to spread it around visually and tastefully ...Recently Drew of Lone Fox has been embracing more tapestries both in frames and also freely hanging on his Wall as well and so has the many fans around the World and other Designers...Honestly, Do think a subtle Landscape designed mural would look fabulous in Your Mid-Century Home as Well...🎉

    I missed your videos Arvin. The cabinet is fenomenal, and the color scheme is part of its design. I would leave it like that and select some abstract art pieces for the wall on the right side of your desk that have some of those colors. They will create contrast while helping integrate the cabinet and making look more intentional, they do not have to be the same shade, but... well of course you know! 😊

    I love the vintage piece as it is. It may be the only surviving one of its run and for me, that gives it historic as well as artistic value! If you cannot handle the colour, could you find a craftsman to create a completely new version for you? Also, thinking that when you reupholster the chairs (unavoidable with fabrics) could you leave the original fabric underneath to preserve the chair’s history? That way you get comfort, the correct aesthetics and the look all in one package! Thank you for the video. It was epic!!!

    Don't change your office cabinet doors!! I think if you change it, it will lose the appeal that drew you to it in the first place. Since the doors seem to remove so easily, you could always make a 2nd set to change out when you get that desire but don't change the originals.

    Please please please - keep the vintage cabinet as is 🙂 It is so incredibly cool as it is. If you really do not like the colours (I love them - I think they fit right in and gives the room caracter). Please take care of the doors, and make new HDF-board with the colours you like, and atthed the handles to the new HDF door panels. Take care of the old coloured panels, in case you ever want to sell the peace again, you can put them back on and take the peace back to its original look :-)

    Happy Holidays to you and Andrew! Your mention of Georg Jensen brought back a wonderful memory. When I was in a Jewellery Art and Design program we went to an opening at Georg Jensen which featured design icon Vivianna Torun. She was so kind and encouraging to all of us and even came back to our school that evening to see our end of the year exhibit. She took the time to stop at each display, chat with the student and give positive feedback. Amazing woman!

    Love your videos! If you don't love the cabinet color, make whatever changes please you. Don't worry about adapting a historic piece - it's yours now. I sense that you enjoy the cabinet's form, construction, and materials. Those won't change if you select a different colorway. If you don't enjoy 100% of this piece, there is no need to carry the weight of the item's historic context or be concerned about what others think about your choices. Change the color, or let the piece go. You deserve to love it 100%.

    It’s coming together beautifully your house.. I also think those vintages should remain as they are.. that’s their magic!! So French that color, so mid century… the chairs also… you need some contrast to create the “magic”…. I am not mid century at all, but I do appreciate good taste and you have got that! Happy 2024🥳

    Loveliest thing in this video is your beautiful face - gosh I've missed seeing you!!! Love those vintage armchairs - they look very chic and comfy. Can't wait to see what fabric you select for them. They would be stunning in a plush dark purple velveteen like the color of your jacket at the beginning of the video. Happy New Year, Arvin!!!
