Acoustic foam tiles can definitely add functionality and a cool look to your room. Especially if you have bad echo from the walls. And in this video I'll show you how to hang acoustic foam so quick and so easy you'll wonder why you even looked at other tutorials!
I got large pack of black and grey wedge style panels so I'll have plenty to work with. To hang these tiles I'll only need the acoustic panels and one more thing you may already have at home. There's no need for spray adhesives, backing panels, double-sided tape or hanging strips. It's really going to be super easy! But first I'll need to decide how I want the acoustic tiles to be arranged on the wall. Depending on the style and colors, these can be arranged in different ways for a cool look.
All I need to attach the panels to the wall are straight sewing pins otherwise known as dressmaker pins. The ones I bought are just over an inch long and really thin so they'll hardly leave a mark in the wall. I choose these pins because they have an ultra tiny head so they're barely visible. But check around your home to see if you already have some of these before buying.
On the wall, I just measured where I wanted my first row of acoustic tiles to start and then marked it with tape. To attach an acoustic panel, just line it up nice and straight on the wall with the tape marks. Insert a pin at the top center of the tile and then tap it in. Even though the pin head is barely visible, I'll take a black Sharpie marker and then draw over the head to camouflage it. Be really careful not to touch the foam with the marker. It's probably a better idea to use the Sharpie marker before tapping these in to avoid marking up the foam.
As mentioned before, one pin in the top center is all it takes. I'm using 12-inch by 12-inch acoustic tiles which should lay flat but you can add some more pins in the corners if needed. Everything I used for the acoustic foam installation is listed here in the description to make it easy for you to find.

genius. this has saved me tons of work. i was about to attach them all to plywood and mount that to the wall and i was feeling pretty smart about it. this is waaaaay better. thanks
This is the best way I have found on RUclips to apply them to the wall, you sir are a genius! Was so cheap and easy. Thank you so much!
You’re welcome! I’m glad my acoustic panel installation video was helpful! Yeah this was the cleanest and easiest way I came up with to mount the foam panels on my wall. Thanks for watching!
Much more helpful than adhesive. Glue from tape or spray messes up the walls. The holes left are insignificant and easy to fill if. Much better option. Ty
Duuddee the pin method is genius. I used 3m tape like a goofball at first 🤣 about to take everything down and reinstall thanks bro
Appreciate it definitely was looking for a way to use acoustic panels and not damaged my walls thanks
Mind the material your wall is made of. For drywall, this is a good solution. For brick or, like in my case, solid concrete, this won't work.
exactly... "How to Hang Acoustic Foam Without Damaging Your Walls" -proceeds making holes in the wall ...
so in other words, us europeans can go kick rocks

Thx mate! Works perfectly for drywall!
So simple yet, so brilliant! Thank you for sharing this!
You’re welcome! I really didn’t want to do any damage to my walls so the pins worked great with the acoustic tiles. They are still on my wall since I made this video and looks exactly the same as the day I hung them up.
I was using the double sided sticky tapes and I gave up after a day, so glad I found this method omg. I don't care for how destroyed my wall looks (I have the paint to repain the wall with ease so I'm fine) but I didn't want to use ahesive glue in the off chance I wanted to move the foam. so this pin method is amazing.
in hindsight, I shouldn't have done it at 10pm, because I ended up worrying my neighbours but they were chill with it.
Thanks for this great solution!
Yes! This is great! Thank you!
Best option ive seen so far thank-you
You’re welcome! Glad you like my method of hanging acoustic foam. Also I’ve had mine up on the wall since I made the video and it still looks good. None of them sag or lose their shape. Looks as good as the day I put them up! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video! Did you do anything to make sure the tiles were exactly even (parallel to the floor and ceiling?). Also, I have watched some videos where they said it is better to have some space between the wall and the acoustic tile (someone taped paper plates to the backs to create some space). Any thoughts on that?
Not gonna lie
I wish I saw your video sooner because I had two mental breakdowns in a row from sticking an entire pack of blu tac to my walls for an hour
to hopelessly try and keep those damn panels up on day 1, and THEN I spent an hour and a HALF doing the same with DOUBLE SIDED TAPE, OF WHICH I USED AN ENTIRE 20 METERS TO NO AVAIL AND NOW I NEED TO SCRAPE ALL THAT CRAP OFF ARGHHHH
Just grab yourself a piece of cardboard and super glue a bunch of pieces to it in the pattern you like. The pieces stay flat and secure and then hang up the cardboard with 4 pins on ever corner.
How about concrete or brick wall does it can be use by pin or not?
Nice, I normally use the T-pins to avoid needing a hammer.
Best way I have found yet!! Thank you. I used the stick strips and 50% fell off the wall. Frustrating.
You’re welcome! Glad you like my method of hanging acoustic tiles! The ones you saw in my video are still on my wall the same as the day I put them up. Thanks for watching!
Would black push pins or thumb tacks work also?
Can I use regular nails instead or just pins?
Legend
I love you
I've been doing looking around and I heard command strips dont work that well. Why is that ?
Mine didn't last long with nails and pins. The foam quickly swallowed the pins and fell off the wall.
So if you have noise from coming from Window, where should I install panels?please help
on the window
Easy peasy lemon squeezy! Thanks for this bro. @TheRenderQ

Hey man my pins keep breaking into my concrete wall. What can I do?
Hey! Sorry I didn’t mention that this method only works on drywall/wall board. If you have concrete walls you’ll probably need double sided tape or other adhesive method. But that will probably leave marks on the wall when you remove them. At this point I don’t have any solutions for concrete walls. Sorry about that!
Man how did you hammer these pins even in drywall? I have tried in every way possible and even holding the very tip to the wall the slightest hit from my small hammer bends them immediately. Not sure if I am missing a tip here 🤣
You may have a concrete wall.

Where can I buy these foam panels for the best price?
i got 48 panels for 55 dollar and there is already aplied tape
I'm an online teacher and my neighbors are loud. Would this block my students from hearing the noise from my neighbor?
No, these acoustic panels will not block out noise from outside the room. The acoustic panels are used to eliminate noise from reflecting off the walls to eliminate echo in the room. That way when using a mic hopefully it will reduce/eliminate the echo resulting in a better recording. I’m not an expert but to eliminate outdoor sounds you’d need an isolated room with sound proof walls. Thanks for watching!
on a hot day they will droop away from the wall unless you pin the corners.
Maybe you’re correct. But I installed my acoustic tiles right at the beginning on summer upstairs where it gets hot inside the house. My tiles haven’t dropped at all. They are as flat as they were when I made this video. More pins in the corners could help if there’s a drooping problem. High humidity may cause them to droop but I haven’t experienced this myself since. Thanks for watching!
What happens if the sharpie gets on the foam??
On the light gray foam you will see a Sharpie mark on the foam if the marker touches it. Actually probably don’t need to use the Sharpie because I think the pins won’t be noticeable because they’re so small.
@@TheRenderQ oh I thought it would stop the function or something
I’d honestly be so paranoid about one falling off and losng the pin somewhere.
Does the pattern of how you place them matter?
The pattern doesn’t matter when you hang the acoustic tiles. Horizontal or vertical is ok. They come in different colors if you want a design or pattern on your wall. Hope this helps!
Only works for drywall. Try hitting those pins against solid walls I'm telling you you'll enjoy repeatedly smashing your fingers and bending all of your pins.
yeah but then you have thirty thousand holes in the wall ?
There will be a bunch of holes if you have a lot of acoustic tile to hang… and if you use more than one pin for each one. But the pins are really thin so you probably won’t notice them when it comes time to take it out. Plus if your room gets painted the holes will fill in with paint. But there are other methods of hanging acoustic tile you can try! Thanks for watching!
Until one falls out and you step on it bare footed...oops!
Yes! That’s possible! But mine have been up since I made this video and they’re staying strong on the wall.
@@TheRenderQ Thanks for the reply...I just had those pins in my last place and yeah they did the job but now I'm in my own place and all my efforts will be forever. That said...I still want to do what's the most forgiving to my walls for that "Just in case" moment. I have now seen a few vids that use the double faced tape on painters tape and I like that best for damage control. Will be testing today.
>"without damaging your walls"
>"make small holes in your walls"
bruh
this is what im saying, makes no sense
"How to Hang Acoustic Foam Without Damaging Your Walls" -proceeds making holes in the fucking wall
🙄 They're pin-sized holes. Chill.
You are piercing a hole through the wall, and you sai it doesn t damage walls? Geezuz man, what s your problem? It does damage the wall ffs
Yes! I am putting holes in the wall! I guess I was referring to other methods where glue and large panels are installed first before attaching the acoustic panels. When I remove these panels there are literally only pin holes left which are practically unnoticeable if you’re not looking for them. This was just my easy solution for hanging acoustic tile!
@@TheRenderQ Sure man....;)..at least it works....Mine keep falling with velcro tape....It s fkn annoying ;)
This is not without damaging your walls. If you can't put any holes in your wall, this is a waste of time.
