As someone who has gone to countries where there is *actual* suppression of human rights, poverty, famine, friends getting blown up. Then for me to come back home to a daughter of a rich and successful Danish man twerk to the lyrics of dissing a fan base and being suppressed because of a failing TV show. It reminds me of just how fortunate we all are to live in a country like the US.
It's gotten ridiculous with how entitled some people have become. People who think they understand when in reality, they wouldn't last 5 minutes in Palestine, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, etc. It's people who are unable to think for themselves anymore and it's sad tbh.
The issue is there are fantastic fanfic writers. They write massive beautiful novels that are just fanfics. It's the people who have connections that write crappy fanfics that are getting the spotlight, the ones who can't see the difference between writing a literary story and a screen play and think that just liking the product and being gay makes your thing good.
*Bad fanfic writers. Fanfiction is not inherently bad. Fanfiction is bad when the writing is bad and it contradicts the source material in egregious ways.
I help edit fanfics in my spare time. I've edited stories where the writer's first language clearly wasn't English, and the story needed to practicly be rewritten from the ground up that were better and more respectful to the source material than this trash.
Or people have given up on waiting for Disney to make actual corrections and will never return. The only Star Wars is the 6 films Lucas made, and the old EU that while never canon in George's view; complemented his stories better than what Disney has put out in the past 12 years.

There hasn't been any new lore or EU since Kathleen Kennedy unceremoniously decided to dump and kill it off even though it was wonderful (not all of it, but most of it - there was some less than stellar stuff but overall it was good). The Disney EU/EU books I've read have mostly been utter trash, just pure shit not worth wasting time on and I wish I hadn't. Never felt threat way on the old, true EU. It's crazy how badly managed Lucasfilm/ star wars has been to wear they've dragged the property through the mud and fans are now seething/ bubbling over/ bursting at the seems with their anger. Yesterday I decided to finally give it a shot. I canceled Disney+ a while ago so I pirated the first 3 episodes. I went into it, putting aside the hate I heard. I like first 2 seasons of Mando, fett was ok, obi Wan show was just ok.. so I figured I'd give acolyte a real chance. Genuinely couldn't get through the first episode. It's incredibly uninteresting. Aside from any of the identity politics attached to the show/criticism of the show, it's just not interesting.

OK, I haven't commented since I embarrassed myself trying to protect Rings of Power but I have to say something about this. What really pisses me off about situations like this is that 10 times out of 10 the marginalized communities they are claiming to represent are NOT asking for this shit. I am a 47-year-old black gay man and I've never had a conversation with anyone where we wished our representation was superimposed on already existing content. However, we get blamed and demonized for it. NO ONE is asking for a black Superman. NO ONE is asking for gay Star Wars. Do we wish we had a black superhero? Yes! Do we wish that there may be some gay sci-fi? yes! But we don't want it superimposed on already existing stuff. Which leads me to the next thing that pisses me off. No one really talks about the gatekeeping aspect of this. As long as these big production companies superimpose shit onto their own intellectual property then it leaves NO ROOM for creators in those groups to tell their stories. This is the ACTUAL TEA. This is greed masquerading as activism and all it does is hurt the communities they are claiming to represent in more ways than one.
At this point I'm just gonna accept it as my catch phrase: show me on the doll, where life touched you because holy fuck. I swear, some of these people have no business being in the movie industry but here they are.... ruining perfectly good stories.

They really seemed to be hinting that Finn was going to be the one who had the force awakened. That would have been a fantastic plot twist and something we've never seen before! And, it would have checked off a little political agenda too with a black stormtrooper turned Jedi! But done in a creative way that was a fresh perspective on Star Wars that we haven't seen before. I would have been a fan of that. Finn really had a lot building up for him in TFA, and then they basically sidelined him in any future movie. Was quite sad and disappointing to me. I did like the movie though. It just was a kick in the nuts when he didn't end up being able to use the force.
I hated the plot and the writing. I honestly had no idea that the director and cast were homosexual until after I was done watching the whole series. I didn’t know much about the cast. It has nothing to do with a diverse cast or sexuality.

I'm glad it did happen, actually. More people are realizing it's a mistake to let people like these try to run a series using a popular I.P. The downfall of a lot of these shows is going to make it a lot harder for them to gain any recognition in the film industry, which is a good thing.

The husband is suing the restaurant and Disney, but Disney is trying to have the case sent to arbitration instead of staying in court because the husband clicked one of those long terms and agreement contracts when signing up for a disneyplus rial and an app to buy tickets to Disney.
The reason Velma 2 came out is because most, if not all, of the animation was done before season 1 ended. so they dropped it all at once with no promotion.

Yesterday I decided to finally give it a shot. I canceled Disney+ a while ago so I pirated the first 3 episodes. I went into it, putting aside the hate I heard. I like first 2 seasons of Mando, fett was ok, obi Wan show was just ok.. so I figured I'd give acolyte a real chance. Genuinely couldn't get through the first episode. It's incredibly uninteresting. Aside from any of the identity politics attached to the show/criticism of the show, it's just not interesting.
Honestly if I were to make a show, i would listen to the audience for their input no matter how harsh.

OK, I haven't commented since I embarrassed myself trying to protect Rings of Power but I have to say something about this. What really pisses me off about situations like this is that 10 times out of 10 the marginalized communities they are claiming to represent are NOT asking for this shit. I am a 47-year-old black gay man and I've never had a conversation with anyone where we wished our representation was superimposed on already existing content. However, we get blamed and demonized for it. NO ONE is asking for a black Superman. NO ONE is asking for gay Star Wars. Do we wish we had a black superhero? Yes! Do we wish that there may be some gay sci-fi? yes! But we don't want it superimposed on already existing stuff. Which leads me to the next thing that pisses me off. No one really talks about the gatekeeping aspect of this. As long as these big production companies superimpose shit onto their own intellectual property then it leaves NO ROOM for creators in those groups to tell their stories. This is the ACTUAL TEA. This is greed masquerading as activism and all it does is hurt the communities they are claiming to represent in more ways than one.

They really seemed to be hinting that Finn was going to be the one who had the force awakened. That would have been a fantastic plot twist and something we've never seen before! And, it would have checked off a little political agenda too with a black stormtrooper turned Jedi! But done in a creative way that was a fresh perspective on Star Wars that we haven't seen before. I would have been a fan of that. Finn really had a lot building up for him in TFA, and then they basically sidelined him in any future movie. Was quite sad and disappointing to me. I did like the movie though. It just was a kick in the nuts when he didn't end up being able to use the force.

I'm glad it did happen, actually. More people are realizing it's a mistake to let people like these try to run a series using a popular I.P. The downfall of a lot of these shows is going to make it a lot harder for them to gain any recognition in the film industry, which is a good thing.

TLDR: Disney is trying to worm out of a wrongful death case because the husband of the deceased signed up for a disneyplus trial a few years back
Long version: There was a couple who went to a restaurant on land that Disney owns, and the wife, who had deadly allergies, ended up dying because her food was heavily contaminated. This after choosing the restaurant for it's good reviews about allergen clear food, checking in with the restaurant staff and informing them of the allergies, having and using an epipen once the reaction started, and going to the hospital. The husband is suing the restaurant and Disney, but Disney is trying to have the case sent to arbitration instead of staying in court because the husband clicked one of those long terms and agreement contracts when signing up for a disneyplus rial and an app to buy tickets to Disney.
