    You are one of THE ONLY fitness channels (I haven’t found any others but there has to be one) that thinks about us trades/manual labor types. I’m a middle aged self employed renovation carpenter. I use sledgehammers as a mace or I choke up on the handle to do club stuff that I have learned on only your channel and it has changed everything. I’ve had many back/neck injuries as well as many broken bones and the like. Clubs and mace is the only thing I have every done that gives me more range of motion while training strength, stability all while increasing my capacity to do more.

      @@xwing788 It's what I do each morning. Ten minutes of 360 swings with a mace, either two-handed with heavier mace or single-handed with a 10-lb mace. I switch top hand/hand and direction EMOM.

    As many of us nowadays, I'm not a manual laborer but sit before a computer most of my working day. But that's work, too - and there is no reason not to begin swinging some clubs, too!

    I did it. 20 minutes non-stop 😅. Shield Cast, Inside and Outside Circle (left hand and right hand). But to be fair I have to say, that I changed hands after 5 reps each side. That makes it a little bit easier 😎.

      I've been doing a heavy club workout every morning for a year or two, and I always walk away feeling like a champion. And it is fun; I treat it like a sport. Every swing is like a tennis or golf shot, perfecting the movement, power and control, balance and breathing, concentration and execution. Highly recommended.

    Did six minutes this morning with a twenty-five pound club. It challenged my grip and I had to take mini set breaks (maybe three towards the end). It for SURE got the blood pumping! Good stuff man!

    Another brilliant video Mark. I subscribed years ago, so I am not surprised. 😉 Last year I was 1/3 way thru 28kg to 36kg transition for 100 reps (simply sinister kinda thing). Now, after taking 2 months off training for lots of "life" stuff, I am coming back from hernia surgery. 😏 Hernia not related to training - just old age (56). Would really appreciate some advice from you Mark about a solid recovery program here.

    I love coffee and love heavy clubs. 😂 my medicine tends to be 10 of mills and outside circles each hand = bullet proof. Great video as always and great advance on restricted timeframe workouts. 👍🏻

    I’ve been doing this every morning as soon as I get out of bed, and it’s amazing !! I am also now doing your “deconditioned” program off the website. I like data and especially the nerd maths videos …. So is there an app or website anyone has used to track these volume cycles long term, or even a well setup excel sheet ?

      @@MarkWildman actually I try to do a few sets before, then during my “30” minute break and sometimes at the end of my shift. It feels good doing that and now to apply what I heard in your videos from todays ride with the different exercises and working for time.

    I lift cables for 45-90 seconds for one hard set, every Sat/Sun. Then run sprints one day Wednesday/Thursday and work outside everyday.

    Can’t start with heavy club in the morning. Body is not loose enough. I start with Indian clubs to warm up before I use the adex else I am going to pull something.

    I’ve been doing your need math program I’m on week 12 just kettlebells. Should I not be touching a light club yet? Because I really want to.
    Also I’ve went up in weight in the Clean & Press I’m up to 12kg, I’m not feeling confident will be able to go up in weight for a while. Do I just stay where I am for a while?

      Maces are less expensive than clubs. I have fixed weight maces from three different companies and I like the Onnit ones best for the knurling. The Set for Set mace knurling bothers my hands. The Garage Fit knurling is not bad but the Onnit one is a little better in my opinion. I have two Onnit clubs and one Titan club. None have knurling. All clubs were more expensive than the maces. I started with mace years ago just because I figured it was a longer stick and assumed it was a superset of club if that makes sense but eventually learned that there are things you can do with clubs that you cannot do well with mace especially if you are not a tall person, like the pendulums. If you can only buy one, I'd get the 10 lb mace as a male not dealing with physical limitations or lighter if you have some issue(s) you are currently dealing with, especially limitations in the shoulders and lower back. If you can afford it and both are available, I'd get a 10 lb mace and a 10 lb club. I bought the 15 lb club to start and frankly I had to build up neurological comfort in the circles and shield casts with the 10 lb mace before attempting anything with the 15 lb club. That's why I recommend the 10 lb club over the 15 lb club if you can purchase both. Hope this helps and good luck

    Great idea. I'll start tomorrow morning. Question does it matter if club training is done before or after a morning walk? I usually walk 2 miles with a 15lb mace for reference.

      Doesn’t really matter. You’ll be awake and warm after 2 miles
      I like the wake up from working on movies.
      Alarm goes off at 4 am. And by 430 I’m awake. Warmed up. Showers and in transport.
      It’s great for jumping time zones.

      It’s called working 14 hours a day, shops are full of dust and ever since I shattered a tooth on a movie, one side of my sinuses is trashed by Friday

    will this put on muscle for woman over 40? we are now being told we need to lift heavy. I have a deadlift bar and a 25# KB, should I get this club thing too? I also have farm animals that I have to care for and I notice a big difference in mobility already.

      You’ll need a Wildman adex club.
      The basis of strength program is 5 to 8 years of training for you. No problem

      Stick with tea. There’s a fancy coffe machine in the shop so I been drinking it because it self brews. Tea is still preferred

    Any advice for dealing with tennis elbow when training with heavy clubs?

      I have been dealing with the same issue. I know the coaching cue to completely straighten out your arm on the swing part helps; I sometimes catch myself getting sloppy with this part. Additionally, I started staff spinning as a warm up before swinging clubs and that's really helping me improve my elbow pain. Specifically, I have been using forward figure 8s and reverse figure 8s. I spent about 5 dollars at Lowe's on a 4 foot 1 inch diameter dowel and about another 5 dollars on baseball bat tape at Academy (before taxes), taped the middle third of the stick, and have been using it for the last two weeks. For reference, I'm an average height male and the length of the staff is perfect in my novice opinion. The 10 to 12 dollar investment definitely seems worth it in my case and I plan to keep this in my club swinging warm up routine. I hope this helps you like it's helping me if you decide to give it a shot

      Most people jump up in weight and get sloppy. If doing single arm club, you average athlete should spend about 6 months per weight

      There is certainly a long adaptation phase
      3 types of programs
      Time under tension super science (basis of strength program)
      Single arm club strength training (focused strength training)
      Club coffee (50 to 60 percent of your other two program structures for time)

      Thanks, Mark! Still enjoying the journey. I have your mace and club stuff stacked on top of my other exercise endeavors (KB’s, lifting, sprinting when the knees allow, sandbag, and swimming). Love the rhythmic and hypnotic qualities of the clubs. They just hit the grip hard. Lowering the volume for each club exercise allows for a lot of movement variety with the clubs. Thanks for your cool channel and instruction.

    This might be a stupid question, but I'll ask anyway. Would club swinging help with the TGU, I can't keep the bell from falling forward because of poor shoulder mobility.

      I cannot say for certain if club swinging helps with TGU, but I have a suggestion for your consideration. I would test to see how strong/capable you are with crab walks. If you find you cannot keep your shoulders packed and away from your ears when setting up for the crab walk, I'd work on building up that strength. You could build that strength from where you keep your bum barely above the floor and even incrementally work on holds where your butt is higher off the ground. Aim to build holds that are at least half a minute long. There's a coordination element to crab walks for sure which makes the exercise entertaining, but I think its regressions/progressions should help with the area of the TGU you are currently struggling with. Hope this helps if you choose to try it out and good luck with your TGU either way

      You can’t do it at max weight. It has to be a lighter weight.

      A nice thing about the adex club is that you can start by using only the handle. That is 3.5 to 4.5 pounds depending on which thickness of handle you get. Mark also showed the idea of starting with a baseball bat. Those can be real light for you to learn the technique and learn how to avoid hitting yourself in the head.

      Start a structured program.

    What's the difference between Inside and Outside circles in terms of muscle activation? They always feel the same to me, at least in 2 handed club work.

      You’re still starting with a Push/Swing/Pull/Catch, I think the main difference is your starting point in rotation.
      Have you done them with single hand yet?

      @@Bat_Dance no, I only have one club and its a bit heavy for single hand work unfortunately. I understand that knowing both inside and outside circles are important for getting into more complex single hand movements but I wonder if I still have to do both inside and outside circles if I am only doing 2 handed work

      @@johndoe-lz3zu Yes, I believe so. These movements, in bodybuilding terms, are the basics and those never die.
      Side note: You should totally get a lighter club to get some single arm work in. It will help make that two hand work feel lighter down the line.

      Heavy manual labor is work not a “work out”. You should seriously investigate some clubs swinging in order to balance out the inevitable injuries you get from doing lots and lots of heavy work.
      People who do labor for a living, get plenty of activity, but they tend to work through injuries which inevitably leads to a cumulative injury cycle. The point of heavy club swinging is basically poor man’s therapy for the workingman

    Love the idea, but found this warm up with a mace from the Adex team (ruclips.net/video/HNU8EmntWxo/видео.html). It is 6 min too, and I love the feel of it. The best is to found a good complete exercice to wake up your body and doing it. Cheers
