It does indeed slide but I'm glad you didn't try. My girlfriend just got one and I had to force it close with my hand. It needs to be lubricated badly.

If you press the sunroof button in the oppose direction it will open. I have a 2010 Ford Edge Limited and the sunroof does open.

You have to re initialize the roof due to power loss battery change..hold it 20 seconds. Same with the sun shade .
