So much information. Relaxed my hair for over twenty years and am now discovering from you why and how relax hair breaks at the root.I currently natural for almost give years and loving it. After trying many many many routines I am now settling down to what is practical for me. My hair has now passed shoulder length after being told it will not grow because of my age. Just recently turned sixty five and my hair is at it's healthiest. Your information is priceless refreshing and accurate for me personally. Keep the information coming. You have just earned another subscriber. Blessings to you always.

When you clapped your hands and pretend blew that hair away talking about it's gone, it cracked me up, lol. I love that you're always so full of good information. 💜

Thank you for explaining more about how to retouch the perm. Sometimes we think understand it because we have permed our hair many times before but miss what we really should be doing or looking for when perming our hair. I have certainly over-permed my hair and trying to fix it. I use regular but I wait too long to re-perm my hair I try to stretch it out. I have two different textures going on.

Great video, I use mild at the front 1/3 and regular for the remainder. I was a super-user back in the day when I self-relaxed and I used to cover the entire length of my of hair. Oh yes the ignorance was real. Sometimes I used neutralizing shampoo sometimes I didn't. Also did not always deep condition. My hair was barley nape length for decades and then I just jumped in and out of weaves and quick weaves. I used curling iron on dirty hair often. Eventually in 2012 I ended up with traction alopecia and saw a professional for the first time that treated hair not just gave me a style. In the last decade I have been working on regrowing my edges, still ongoing and I have started retaining length and seeing the health. Now I really only mess with my hair if I am going somewhere so maybe once or twice a week, I keep it wrapped and scarfed 90% of the time. Knowledge is when used is power!

"knowledge is when you use the power"🙌🏾 I love that!!! I'm with you, with not always deep conditioning but when I made it a priority.... Maaaan my hair took off! Thank you for sharing ❤️

I use extra strength. My crown, doesn’t comply even after 23 minutes. Worst part is that I start at my crown😂. I tried the regular for years but I kept getting a text lax instead of a relax with a burnt scalp, Now I’m seeing growth and the texture that I’m aiming for.

I didn't know that flat ironing dirty hair could break at the root. Good to know. I don't like to wash my hair every day because it's drying, but I flat iron almost every day at least a little bit to keep nice and smoothe

I was natural after being relaxed for my entire life starting in 2021. In March of this year, I went to a my normal Dominican salon-that I’ve been going to since 2022 with no problems-and asked for my normal wash and press with no relaxer after having a sew in for a couple of months. They definitely used relaxer on my newly natural roots and I’ve had extreme breakage at the roots ever since. So close to my roots, I cry in bed thinking I need to cut it to a buzz cut. I just want to shave it all off at this point. It’s thin and wiry when it used to be thick and healthy. I’m so mad and I want to sue them or go ask for my money back. I don’t know what to do. Can anyone offer me any tips? I got the sew in after years of not having one and wanting to do a protective style. Now I’ve lost so much hair growth-keep in mind I started this journey with a pixie cut to cut off dye and got my hair back to shoulder length in 3 years.

I use regular strength and don’t keep it on more than 12 minutes and that has helped me, also I don’t manipulate my hair daily sometimes I just deranged and keep in a protective style guys that has helped me grow and retain length, also I put Vaseline on the already relaxed hair so when I’m rinsing it doesn’t process the already relaxed hair

I could never retain length when I used relaxer, Even texlaxed, I have locs now, my hairs thriving, plus there's risks of cancer now with relaxers!

I understand and I hear a lot of women say that...I am the ONLY one in my family that still uses relaxers. Relaxers are a strong chemical that can cause a lot of damage. After having that article about relaxers causing cancer I'm actually surprise to see so many natural go back to relaxing after so many years. TFW!!!

Moisture. Try to up your moisture. Relaxed hair can get very dry because of the chemical and needs additional moisture to give it elasticity to be able to handle every day styling. Thank you for watching 💞

      Use :
      1) sulfate free moisture shampoo
      2) protein free Deep Conditioner 30 mins
      3) ORS Ricewater Leave-In
      🦋👍🏽💃🏾🤝👍🏽🦋

Hair shedding is due to the relaxer breaking down the protein in ur hair. You need a protein treatment. Go to: Crystal and elite haircare usa on youtube.

Can tapping your hair in a style with a durag on be one of the causes too?

I like to keep about 60% of my natural texture so I use a mild lye relaxer, my natural hair is 4A/4B, and high density. My hair has remained healthy since relaxing last year after being 11 years natural :)
