I love this watch. I hunt, fish, operate a farm, run, hike, walk, calisthenics, etc. I used to be hyper-fit. Now, I'm retired from that life, but still very active and steeped in all outdoor conditions. I need a watch I don't have to worry about when outside. And I want that battery to last at least a week. The stats are fun and good-enough accurate and ten times more plentiful than anyone needs. Even serious athletes. This watch is awesome.
Military guys. I used to be a combat guy in the US Army. The battery is fantastic, but I might look at the Luminox or some such, for that purpose. I'd prefer a battery that lasts one or two months for that use case (I occasionally went two months without access to a power outlet in the Army).

how do you use your watch and how long does battery last? I have scheduled Always on display, I'm using automatic brightness, GPs on battery saver, and still i think i cant last 5 days??

@@madstrik3r And a year later, I respond. Sorry.
My battery lasts about 10 days.
I have the display scheduled for 9am to 6pm and and the lift wrist viewing schedule from 8am to 9pm. I think the difference is that after 6pm notifications and random things won't trigger my watch to light up. That lit screen is a huge battery drain, just like with your phone.
GPS? Dunno. I don't think that I ever set anything specific for that.

Thanks for the review. HR inaccuracy doesn't really bother me, mainly interested in seeing improvements in resting heart rate and it should be just fine for that.

As one for being in the military for years and years. The only thing “military grade” tells me is don’t buy it. 😂
On the other hand I have this watch and love love love it. Nice beautiful screen, accurate next time my Suunto and Garmin on the roads and in the mountains. Battery is amazing.

Military Grade means "overbuilt and rugged" for the most part in this context. For certain things, it means it meets a spec..

For anyone considering this watch it has now been updated to be able to use a Heart rate strap for anybody that wants that feature. I have the first t-rex that I bought on sale when this one came out and have been really impressed with it overall, I am quite tempted to upgrade to the second myself as its pretty hard to beat in terms of value!

Thanks for the review. :) I´m looking to replace my Suunto 7 as battery life has become an issue on that watch. My concern - choosing now between a Garmin Fenix 6 X Pro or this Amazfit T-Rex 2 - is that the T-Rex 2 really has an attractive pricetag and I really like what I see in terms of the gorgeous display etc - but will it last? I used to have a Garmin Fenix 3 and that was really built like a tank and lasted me for years and years. This T-Rex 2 is actually the first watch i´ve looked seriously at from Amazfit - so the brand itself is a new and unknown factor for me as well.
And I´m also thinking more in terms of long time usage - will the brand stick around? Will the app and firmware improve? It´s not like I´m a garmin fanatic (hence the Suunto 7) :D but I know they are reliable and the brand has been there for ever. Well...I´m on the fence but I like everything you´ve shown me about the T-rex 2 except the maps...

The "I cant see my data when running" is wrong. You can adjust the settings so the screen is always on during runs. That's how I have it.

The speed of wakeup, dear reviewer. That's configurable. You need to set the "Response speed" to "sensitive" and not "standard." Though it is still about .75 seconds to appear.

Can you start a trek and use the GPS and then when done you can use "go back to start" feature like on Garmin? Or is it only if you upload a route from a GPX file?

  • @moyolenovo3914
    @moyolenovo3914 Год назад

I'm not 100% sure about functioning of trex2, but in my amazfit gts 3 there is two wrist turning modes one is fast and another is slow. I personally prefer slower one, because it doesn't activate immediately with every slight wrist turn eating battery life significantly. But yes, it is a bit slow for my taste as well.

  • @splatmatt

I'm revisiting the T-rex 2 after dealing with Fenix 7 & FR 955 bugs that fix one problem only to add instability elsewhere. The T-rex 2 gets close to most of what Garmin offers at a quarter (or less) of the price of Garmin's upper tier watches. If Garmin stabilized their software by reducing weird fragmented software versions to their numerous offerings (like apple does) - I would gladly pay the premium money to Garmin. However, after the last few updates on the T-rex 2 that include a climb pro knockoff, breadcrumb nav, external bluetooth HR sensor connection, etc I'm willing return my buggy Garmins. In the end, tech watches have a short service life and depreciate quickly after purchase. I would rather spend less on a tech sport watch that will deliver the majority of what I want then either save or spend the remainder towards a something more timeless, like a mechanical watch.

Do you know how to upload GPX maps to your watch? Even when they are thrown on the phone, ZEPP does not search for them, if I use other programs such as total commander, which offers other applications to open the GPX file, ZEPP is not there.
