One of the best shows ever. Soooooooo underrated. A true hidden gem. The characters are as over the top and engaging as Arrested Development. And the writing is phenomenal and clever.
Party Down ended way too soon and was criminally underrated. And despite the humour, it perfectly captured the recession-era hopelessness of being trapped in a job you don't want to be in but can't afford to leave. That's a big part of why it resonated with me and I'm grateful to it for not only showing me that I wasn't alone but that even frustration can be funny. Thank you Party Down!
I’d give up the best years of Parks to have this show go on. The cast is incredible, and now prolific. I hate to single anyone out but Adam Scott and Ken Marino are just perfect. What a privilege.
I'm glad the show is finally getting the credit it has deserved, there's been a lot of hard core fans that saw it on Starz when it aired. It's been shared with friends, and now has reached this legendary status with so many different groups of people. One of the greatest comedic ensemble casts ever. The best TV ever made was on the premium networks at that time, shows that also ended up being short-lived, like Deadwood, and Carnivale
Ken Marino did Wet Hot American Summer. Jane Lynch did Glee. Adam Scott did Parks and Rec. Megan Mullally did Parks and Rec and Will and Grace. Lizzy Caplan did Mean Girls. For folks that have done some really iconic work, them all saying Party Down is their number 1 is pretty huge.
I randomly found this show on Netflix a few years after it got cancelled, I was shocked how good it was considering I had never heard of it (and damn what an all star comedy cast). I put a lot of people onto it and it remains one of my favorite comedies of all time. Starz really dropped the ball with the marketing. this show should have gone on for at least 4 seasons.
Rewatching Party Down's two seasons for the forth time ever and 11 years later it's still hilarious and fresh. One of the most underrated comedies ever and I tell people about it and they never watch. Missing out, I would love for the show to come back. One of the biggest fans, thank you for the comedy gold.
Community AND Party Down reunion panels? It's like an early Christmas! Enjoyed the moderation/questions and the behind-the-scenes stories. Thanks for making these events happen and uploading the panels in full for those of us who couldn't be there ❤️
It's interesting to hear that they essentially came up with the idea for the show after watching the original Office, because when I watched this show I was thinking the whole time that it was sort of the spiritual sequel to The Office. Great show!
@@GH-om5rp she just comes across like her character on Party Down? Money hungry and rather self-centred / a bit of a dick. The whole "they paid us nothing, like NOTHING" comment (already after having mentioned it at the VERY start), just makes her look like a massive bitch. I hope I'm wrong; but yeah not a great look.
@@feeltheslipstream yeah but you can also tell when she starts her rant that Adam Scott and a few others are biting their fucking tongues HARD. I dunno, she's basically a multi-millionare mega successful actress - so to see her bitching so incessantly about how little she paid, is rather odd (considering Adam Scott WANTED to work on the show before it was even green lit). There's art and then there's greed - Lizzy Caplan's greed outweighs her art in my eyes.
Holla-what?😭 the comedy in the show is fucking gold. Ron exposing to a Henry about his sexual problems was one of the funniest scenes, and maybe the fake gun scene with Ron. Shit had me dying
Just watched this show for the first time. It was fantastic. I wish the episodes were an hour long. It's too damn bad it was cancelled. 1 more season would have been perfect. I really hope they come back somehow for a final season.
This is the type of content that I hope you guys will be able to do more of in the future. Amazing to see the cast of PD back together, especially now that the reboot is confirmed.
Magnisifent! Still one of my favorite moments. So glad that S3 is happening. And I feel Adam Scott having to pitch the show to Lizzy Caplan (love her outfit here). I keep trying to recommend the show to people but it's a tough pitch. You have to see it and be able to appreciate it for what it is. It certainly isn't the right show for everybody but like a gourmet meal that is actually cheap and unpretentious. Just really talented people being able to do what they want and envision and having fun with it.
Sometimes it’s great when great shows end too early. Bc the legend grows of what “could have been” - when (just like every great show), it eventually runs its course and gets worse. It’s just impossible to sustain it. But, this should have had one more season.
Why when they all became successful did that show not come back? I LOVED party down. Equal parts funny cute stupid charming endearing confusing fun and sweet;
They could honestly just get wigs and just say they’re the same age they haven’t aged much besides Kyle and Martin but who really cares if they look older
@@michellewilcox7175 maybe he just watched the first 10 minutes or so, they were slightly stiff in the beginning but they loosened up as the panel went on
Sitting ten people on a stage, each with a microphone, is not the most natural of environments. You don't know when to speak and you don't want to speak over anyone else which throws of the rythm of conversation a bit.
Lizzy Caplan loves money a bit too much. Kinda disgusted by how obsessed by it she seems? Half way in and all she's done is complain about how little she was paid, and put everyone down as not being as interesting as Jane Lynch. Honestly sorta gross.
There's nothing gross about it lol. She works hard, she knows her value, she knows her right, nothing wrong about it. Also, money pay our goods sooooo it's good to be obsessed for your own good.
Really one of the best and most underrated shows ever, perfect cast! Ended way too early. Please do a reboot!!
One of the best comedic casts ever.
Yup. Casting was spot on for the writing. One of the few shows I actually enjoyed each character.
You got your wish
Season 3 trailer just dropped!!!
@@MarX8883 I just found out yesterday! Super stoked... I hope they keep this going! I was heartbroken when they stopped at 2 seasons. 👊🧡👍

Writing's better than AD, to be honest. It's less formulaic and the characters have more dimensions to them.
Community and Party Down reunions? This has been such a gift thank you Vulture.
YES. Perfect shows

Party Down was an incredible show! It was clever, hilarious and very unique! I am so bummed we only got 2 seasons, I rewatch them all the time

Wtf I never knew this had ever been on Netflix!
I always thought it never had another season because the actors got too big
Gosh I wish this show is revived. It's my favorite.
Wish granted ✨️

Party Down and Reno 911 are the two shows I keep rewatching at night when I need some comfort laughs but should be in bed.
I knew almost all of the opening clips by heart because I've watched those 2 measly seasons probably 15 times. Each.
It never gets old
My favorite is "Celebrate Ricky Sargulesh." I have seen that episode at least 7 times. Steven Webber still cracks me up.
This and a Community reunion? Surely one of them will give me the movie I was promised now. 😅 ❤️

This was such a wonderful treat, after all these years, one of my favorite shows. And thank you Vulture for giving it the appropriate panel length.
We need a reboot. Please and thank you.

Very interesting to hear PD was directly inspired by the UK Office; it has a really similar vibe of being realistically downtrodden and hopeless.
Just finished watching Party Down! absolute hidden gem

Also, I love Lizzy Caplan.

Ken Marino is FUCKING HILARIOUS. Dude has a comedian's mind; I'd love to see him in an unscripted comedy.
Did you ever see Burning Love? Not unscripted but the writers incorporated some of the actors’ improvisations.
I feel like Paul Rudd and Donald Glover are on vacation somewhere together.
Thank you, Vulture. You're doing the Lord's work with these reunions.

Season 3 is great
