  • Beyond Paint is a paint product that requires no stripping, no priming and no sanding prior to painting. Back in 2020 we reviewed this Beyond Paint product • Beyond Paint the mirac... and the viewer reaction continues to be passionate. In this video we use the remainder of the original Beyond Paint from two years ago and paint a vinyl plank. Then as requested we proceed to torture it.
    Join as we explore if Beyond Paint is usable after two years, will it adhere to vinyl, and will it resist sanding and scraping after curing.
    The paint color used is Nantucket.
    Is it available in your area? Check out beyondpaint.co...

    Screwdriver gouging is a little extreme, I usually just run my fingernails over paint for normal durability testing. But I'm glad to see this stuff holds up to normal use after two years, I have a client that wants a bunch of cabinets painted without sanding because they just put new carpet in so I'm glad to find this stuff.

    • @cfldriven

      I agree the screwdriver was extreme, but some viewers complained that in the original video I didn't really test how this paint held up. So I decided to try a few of their suggestions in the update. Good to hear you found this video helpful. Thanks for watching.

    I bought this paint to re-do my kitchen golden oak cabinets, but I'll still put down a couple thin coats of Zinsser BIN (shellac) primer to ensure great adherence after a very light scuffing of the surface. The main reason I like the Beyond as a top coat is its thickness and ability to help hide the oak grain without the need to apply fillers and deal with sanding it down multiple times (and that related mess). Two to three thin coats should do it, applied with a small thin-nap roller.
    I really don't mind the slight texture it leaves behind. IMHO if you want glass-like results, then your only option is to spray with lacquer ($$$ and lots of prep work, sanding between coats, etc.).

    Because the brushstrokes come from the brush, and they recommend you use a microfiber roller. I just use this paint on to old school desks that were painted red at one time and we’re sitting outside. I painted them both dark blue and they look amazing but it’s important to use the roller. There are no stroke marks on it at all. My next project are my kitchen counters. I’m just trying to decide what color and coordinate a color for the cabinets.

    I painting my countertops with beyound paint. 2 years ago.... purchased the sealer as well....3 COATS... allowing recomened time between coats. It's holding up ok. however what I dont like about beyond paint. when it gets wet, it turns lighter... It does dry back to the orginal color. Also, do not let anything like tomatoe sauce or red colored food. It will stain. Not the best option for counter tops...

      Marfia, it was interesting to read the requests to torture the paint. This paint is impressive although pricey, but depending on the project it could be the right paint. I only wish I knew about this paint when we painted the kitchen cabinets. The amount of sanding and multi-layers of primer and paint made for a long project. This paint would have said us so much time and effort making it a bargain evening with the higher cost. Thank you for watching and taking the time to write. Best of luck iwth the cabinets and if can share how the project went.

    Love this paint, have used it on several things so far…just wish it was tintable as I am painting my oak cabinets grey and the light is a little too light and the dark has a bluish tone I don’t want so I guess I’ll have to figure a ratio of adding black to get what I want….our local store flatly refused to try to tint lol

    • @cfldriven

It got so think and hard to stir im wondering if I can add just a tiny bit water so I can work with it and finish dresser top. There was only about 1 5 inching bottom of jar. I used a drill attachment for mixing paint and it could barely turn. Maybe because jar was almost empty. I added 2 teaspoons,water and kink or messed up integrity of the paint. Still used it. Barely had enough to cover a dresser top I was using it for. I scrapped sides of jar and finally I got that satin smooth finish. Used a clear matt finish.

I also think layering thin coats work best for a smooth and even coat

    How much can this paint be thinned out for spraying ?

    • @cfldriven
      @cfldriven  10 месяцев назад

      Flaherty, according to the Beyond Paint's website "BEYOND PAINT works with both HVLP (High volume, low pressure) and airless systems. If using an HVLP sprayer system use a 2.0 or 2.4 nozzle. No need to thin or dilute our paints. Our paint is ready to go to be used with any paint sprayer If you do have trouble getting the paint out of the nozzle, then add a only a few drops of water at a time."

    • @BEYONDPAINT
      @BEYONDPAINT 9 месяцев назад +3

      Diluting Beyond Paint is not recommended for a less textured finish. Adding water would compromise the integrity of the product's bonding properties.
      For spraying, Beyond Paint can be sprayed using an HVLP system or airlines system using the wider nozzle. Our paint is water-based and thicker than regular paints, however, dilution should not be necessary if a wide nozzle is used. Hope this helps!

      Not all paint brushes are equal. You must consider the brush head material as well as its size and shape to help you get the results you need. A top-quality paint brush will hold more paint, streak less, last longer and provide a better finish. I have a 3 inch natural sable hair brush that I purchased in 1982 ($90.00 at that time), that I use exclusively for laying down oil based poly-urethane finishes. It takes about 1 hour to clean after use. It will lay down a perfect glass-like finish on table tops, that is superior to a sprayed finish. It seems like an insane price for a paint brush, but so far, its' cost $2.25 per year. LOL
