- Decided to rank all 2022 NHL goal horns after being annoyed by the Avalanche.
This is not some in depth, serious thing where I researched the history on each goal horn and overanalyzed the songs. This was just for fun with my Twitch chat to make some stupid content. Sorry if you actually took this video seriously. Appreciate all the views though!

Kraken fan here, it’s a pretty cool story regarding our horn: it’s the actual, physical horn from a retired ferry (M/V Hyak) that ran between Seattle and Bremerton for a solid 50 years. Its now mounted in the rafters at the CPA. It’s a very familiar sound on the Seattle waterfront, especially for those like me who made that commute regularly.

Even though I entirely disagree with this list, I do understand your reasoning. I was just going to mention that in a game scenario, the horns are actually good length since the songs should be playing when the players go back to fist bump the bench. That's my personal opinion

Fun fact about the Stars horn: They play the horn multiple times for their total score, meaning they *do* break up the long one. So, if the Stars scored their 4th goal, they sound the horn 4 times.
Edit: Also, the Leafs horn is false advertising because no Leafs fan's dreams have ever come true.

That’s childish and embarrassing. They need to go back to playing the horn one time like a mature, Stanley cup winning organization and like they did all the time in the 90s and early 00s before Jeff K and company took over.
For a lot of these horns, EGH cut off some parts so you could hear all the sections. For my favorite team, the Blues, the organ lasts like 20-30 seconds (and sounds better than this), then the song after lasts at least another 30 seconds, and the crowd chants the whole time. Love being in the building and hearing that horn.
Also, the reason why the Blackhawks horn sounds so generic is because it was the original.

A lot of these goal horns sound/look a lot better when you see them with actual goals. Like a clutch goal to win OT or something that makes the crowd go nuts that’s how you have to Tier them IMO
I’m from Winnipeg and maybe I’m just used to everyone ripping on the city (I would too if I didn’t live here) but I did NOT expect you to like the Jets horn that much! It’s honestly sick in the building when they score but in my opinion the song itself could be something different to get the boys even more fired up. The “it’s time to celebrate” line is corny to me. Great stream man!
The Avs horn gets you so hyped when they score in OT also the Avs crowd is really loud and they cheer for just the perfect ammount of time for the song to start.

It’s a little played out now but still works because of the playoff runs and cups associated with it and they were trendsetters using it (so many teams tried to add “sing-a-long” type goal songs since). Still one of the best goal horns/ songs in the league if you ask me.
It seems like I always have a differing opinion when it comes to goal horns and goal celebrations in the NHL. So many people complain when a horn is blasted too long or the it sounds too loud or the repeated blasts are annoying... isn't that the point of the horn and the celebration? Like it's supposed to make noise and rattle the opposing team. I've heard so many people bash Washington's police siren and personally I think, "GOOD." It's awesome, unique, and it creates additional noise on top of the crowd and horn. Maybe it's just my thing of how I like everything to be loud but I dunno.
No you’re exactly right! The goal horns and songs aren’t necessarily suppose to be pleasing😂,they are somewhat suppose to be obnoxious because it will get into the heads of the opposing team and it’s fans as well. Most horns do a good job at that! Lol

Dallas has the best horn. Hands down. If I'm not mistaken, this is the only goal song that was actually custom made in the entire league. It got introduced with their only cup run. Vinnie Paul (Pantera's drummer) got apparently asked to make a new song a day before the first round game against Edmonton. Just the story behind this track puts it up there. And Dimebag's shredding is god tier. Yes it is cheesy but it sure is powerful.

Nearly half the teams have custom horns, off the top of my head there's at least Dallas, Detroit, LA, Nashville, Seattle, New York

You got to be at a Columbus game to really feel how hype that horn is. The bang is an actual canon they have in the arena that they set off. Truly and great experience, atmosphere was crazy.

As an Avs fan, I much more preferred the siren they used from the first 10 years or so they were in Denver. Haven't been a fan of the horn they use now.
Love the added horn that comes afterward. It sounds like something you'd hear on the ski/snowboard slopes when they know that an Avalanche is coming.

I think you just don't like horns in general. 2/3 of your criticisms were "horn is too long".
Buffalo and Washington have different goal songs for each player on the respective teams
Boston and Detroit have recordings of their horns, not the actual thing; you can tell the difference when you're live at the arena.
Nashville's goal song was recorded by Tim McGraw - huge fan of the team - who offered to write the custom "Dunno what it is 'bout the Predators scoring" line, and the team rolled wit it.
I know nothing about hockey, but loved the stream and endless chirping haha

Fun fact: Seattle Krakens goal horn actually comes off of a retired Washington State Ferry (they’re a mainstate in Western Washington) there was a big push by Seattle residents to have one of the Ferrys whistles as the goal horn. The ferry it came off of is the MV Hyak btw. Soooo apologies that it doesn’t sound good.
The lightning horn sounds so much better in the arena and they also play thunderstruck after a goal!

The Columbus one they have a cannon that goes off every goal so that’s what that shot was and it’s so insane because I have gone to many of the blue jackets games and it sticks out from all the other goal horns. Plus it scares the opposing players which is funny
I’ve heard three goal horns in person, and they all sounded AMAZING (Stars, Coyotes, and Sabres.) I don’t know what it is, but audio recordings just can’t truly capture the magic of these horns. As a Stars fan of 14 years, that goal horn and cheesy-ass Pantera song get me pumped up like nothing else.

Calgary, Colorado and the Pennsylvania teams have the best horns in the entire National Hockey League.
Also, I find it obnoxious that Vegas' horn is so much higher than Colorado's even though they use the same horn model, just with a different throat and bell configuration on the horns themselves...

there's actually a cool twist with the buffalo sabers goal song becuase every player on the team has a different goal song that plays when they score a goal so sometimes it's good and sometimes it's not

The Caps horn sounds like they went out into the Capital and just sampled all the car alarms going off and made it a goal horn.
Pretty good tier list he got my favorite teams (Carolina and Detroit) in a pretty good tier but my only problems with this vid is Columbus and Arizona. Two of my other favorites and if I was you I wouldn’t rate them that bad, I may just be bias but those horns aren’t that bad I guess that’s just my opinion. Good video kept me laughing!

20:20 that is supposed to be a fire truck horn from the FDNYC and it’s a recording too and speaking of recordings, Boston and Detroit use recordings of horns plus each team has different models and some are similar horns that have different pitches or blast patterns

Saying the Sabres goal horn sucks is criminal. It’s one of the best horns in the league. I don’t think that video does it justice tbh. Also I think they’re also doing that thing where each player has their own goal song which is pretty neat.
My favorite horns are 1. Buffalo (The tuning is nice and the horn sounds crisp and powerful) 2. Calgary (the sound of the horn is heavenly) 3. LA (the horn has a nice sound and is loud and powerful, I’ve heard it live and it’s nice!)

@@goalhorn2012 I don't get how an unbiased fan would think of Buffalo's as the #1 goal horn. The goal horn is a little obnoxious, and the song is just forgettable. Not very original. But yeah now it makes sense that you're an LA fan because there is no way an unbiased fan would rank it at #3 lol. It is literally just the Rangers goal horn but cutting everything out except the "HEY HEY HEY" part. However, Calgary's goal horn is just terrible. The song is mediocre at best, that is also what confused me about your list 😂 but I'm just sharing my opinion, obviously we all have different tastes. There are some people saying the Caps is #1 lmao, so yours isn't the worst.

Sharks horn used to be on a Navy ship. It had to be muted to be safe indoors because it originally was loud enough to be heard for miles. In the arena it literally shakes the building!

Really enjoyed this video (tho my dog was very put off by the horns). Dallas Stars just started playing the song Cha Cha Cha by the Finnish rapper Käärijä after one of their Finnish players scores. Would be great to see you do a reaction to Cha Cha Cha. It’s the perfect hockey celebration song.

I'm a Buffalo Sabres fan and what's worth noting about Buffalo is that each Sabre selected their own goal song for the season. I'm not sure which player's song was used for the Buffalo video but for example Jeff Skinner uses Party in the USA, which in my opinion is the best goal horn in the NHL

Even though you’re not gonna listen to me or wanna hear me… but Tampa’s Horn is better in person for sure cause it goes along with the Tesla coils they fire off but I do have to admit I don’t like the song… Which brings me to my next point. Tampa Plays can’t touch this by MC Hammer when Stamkos Scores and Sweet Caroline for Ondrej Palat.

The organ actually goes on longer for the STL horn, they just cut it short here. There are actually two horns in the rafters at Enterprise Center too
