Hello! I am possessing Toyota Camry CSI imported from Australia to Bosna and Herzegowina ,bought is , odometer before three Years.Odometer showed 79k kilometra ,recently 88 k kilometra.Is it possible such a Huge mileage with the orginal engine?
I've had a 2000 camry LE 2.2 for 10 years.its by far the best car I have ever owned.i've only done a timing belt,water pump and starter and it was the original unit, other than that just regular maintenance.if your looking to buy one,I highly recommend it.
@@MikeDunn no, not at all,there great cars,is it in good condition? Are you buying it from someone?if you're buying it,ask if you can have it inspected by your mechanic, problem areas,are lack of maintenance,if it looks good and drives ok,no worries.these cams are tanks.
I have a 2000 ce model with a 5 speed manual. The manual transmissions livens up the 2.2L engine a bit. Very reliable, it hasn't given me any more issues than general maintenance. Great value car.
I helped my cousin find one. A 1999 for 2800. That is a steal. Here in California, in the Bay Area, you see a lot of them on the rode. And yes very reliable.

I absolutely love it, the build quality is tremendous (this is coming from someone who has owned a Volvo 240 so I'm very fussy about it) and at the price I paid for it - $1200, I could not ask for a better car.
Looks just like my 2000 Camry except mine is a V6. Over 194,000 miles and still runs strong. Highly recommend this car. When the time comes, I will put a new engine in mine before purchasing the new cars now All the bells and whistles of the computers will take you broke for repairs. I will stick to my 21 year old Camry.
Ha! right with you, guy. I have a 2000 Camry 2.2L-- only 136.000 miles. Not giving it up. Easy to work on. Just swapped out a starter. $94 delivered from Amazon. Took about 20 minutes to pull the old one and install the new....
That design and generation Camry was way ahead of its time exceptional well built automobile and easy to work on very reliable I have a 1998 with over 288,000 miles runs great one of best dependable and reliable cars I ever had the car is a Classic.
I just traded my 2002 Camry for a 2006 Acura TL and in the 5 years I had the Camry, it was a solid car. It did have a few minor issues, most recently I had to replace one of the interior door handles. mechanically speaking, it did have this issue a few years ago where there would be blue smoke coming out of the exhaust briefly after starting it but the powertrain warranty fixed it. Other than that, it was regular maintenance but there are definitely other competitors to consider in that class
AH! I was not expecting you to review my car (as you can tell in my thumbnail)! Everything you said was spot on, even the rough gear change from 3-4. However, I was wondering what you thought of the front doors (they are very heavy on my car), as well as the window motors, all 4 of mine started dying out after several years. Also the flimsy door handles are an extremely common issue that I'm surprised you didn't address. Great review!
Same. Regret selling mine. It was so mint and had 120k miles. Got it for 2k$, it was a 1998 though. I sold it and got a 2007 camry and regret it deeply because this camry has given me tons of problems and my 98 was always fine and nothing ever happened to it. It was a tank man.
I have a 2001 just like this for my daughter. In the 17 months we’ve owned it, it has been a total money pit. It trembles like a chihuahua while stopped in D or R. Nobody has been able to fix this. It needs a new valve cover gasket every 6-12 months or else it leaks oil all over an almost-inaccessible area on the rear of the engine. On occasion the starter will grind the flywheel instead of turning it, and replacing the starter and starter relay hasn’t completely resolved it. Recently had to replace the brake master cylinder to resolve a violent highway vibration. This seems a little excessive for a car with 119k on it. On the plus side it takes Dexron-III for ATF, diff fluid, and power steering, but why a separate differential fluid area? Now the oil pan is leaking a little. except for the A/C which is excellent, I have a hard time understanding the love for these cars.
The 02's-06's we're great as well, but I hate the 07's-11's. The 12's-present are ok, but I hate that new alarm clock like chime, makes the car feel cheap. My 06 Corolla also had that chime. Their old chime is my favorite chime ever like the car has in this video.
Door handles didn't come to mind as these weren't broken, many where the spring breaks the lower corner of the plastic until they're exposed leaving a poorly tensioned handle :P IDK about the doors being heavy but I will say the the power window regulator/motor on the driver door to this car wasn't gonna last long as it was loud & had a slight grinding noise to it.
my 2000 Camry le has almost 213k miles and aside from a couple squealy accessory belts that I'm getting replaced soon, she runs like a fuckin top... those 2.2L 5SFE engines in the Camrys are pretty fuckin reliable ngl
This is the most accurate review of this car I've seen. I agree this was the most refined interior on any Camry and the last generation of such top quality interior. The exterior was the total opposite imo which is why I didn't buy it. Very boring and almost ugly design. The nicest exterior is the current design and the 2014 design.

I have the 2.2l Manual trans, has done 178k Kms. Super reliable, and spacious. However ,now the engine sounds a bit cringe a bit. Sounds like a bad bearings in drive belt or fan belt. Any solution ? My mechanic told me it is the engine sound, perhaps in timing adjuster.

Replacing and reformatting a radio inside the car is a massive investment. You can't use the stock and play music from your phone unless you have a separate Bluetooth speaker. If you're keeping the car forever, go for it. If you're not, don't bother, the cost is almost as expensive as the car, lol.
Got a friend with a Camry. Same body style, color, engine. Needs some work though. Has an annoying clunking sound coming from the rear and had an EGR issue.
I have a 2000 LE with 109,000 miles I bought new. It needs a front bumper from cumulative tight garage mishaps. I want to fix it my wife doesn’t want to spend the money . I love my car. It never burns oil between changes and the pickup is just find. It also has a Japanese Vin number. Should I spend the money to replace the bumper.?
Did you mean 2004-2008 TSX? I sometimes see that. But I kinda died a little when you said that lol. The new F-Type looks more like the TSX in the rear IMO.
If it had an aftermarket radio then most likely it will but otherwise, you won't see auxiliary inputs popping into some cars made 2005+. The newer, the more common it becomes
@@ILOVECHICKEN698 when I got it I replaced the spark plugs, coils and front brakes along with a valve cover and power steering line. Then I replaced my front seals and replaced the timing belt while it was all apart, replaced the battery thermostat and alternator but its got 300k on it now.

I drive a 97 with almost 296,000 miles still in good condition check engine light on so I had to pass smog legal but I take care of my car change oil
I had a 2004 Camry had 404,800...just as good as my 99 with 381,000
The mid cycle update for 2000-2001 models helped. A lot. The 97-99 was meh.

My power windows don't go down. The motor seems to run when I try lowering windows with the switch.

Keep it! Low maintenance and change oil every 3K, will do 300K and more. Easy DIY Trans fluid changes also!

It has a timing belt, but you don’t have to worry about it ruining the engine since it’s an non-interference engine!
