I didn't know I make so many sounds when I pick things up until editing this video lol. Let me know if you guys have any plant plans/projects for Spring, perhaps I could get some ideas for myself haha. Benji, what's the name of the plant you have on your balcony wall?, the one by the lake, it's because I'm Brazilian and I still don't know fluent English, could you tell me the name?
Always loved the balcony.. even with all the electric power lines in the background, it’s like you’re in asia. I used to live where you are for 20 years.. definitely missing the weather.. always an esthetic video Benji. 👍🏼
My favourite thing about you, Benji is how you just go ahead and try things without worrying if things will be perfect. Such a great way to discover your own personal style and to learn things along the way. I think your balcony garden is lovely and would like to try some of your projects, maybe a water garden this season 🤔. Also, the lights…so pretty.
We just moved recently to a new house, and my grandmother gave us a lot of seeds, and my other grandmother is giving me so many plants, ifs gonna be so fun designing the garden!! Also I love your videos So SO much you are literally my favourite RUclipsr.
@Choupette La Calicotte I knowww grandmas are the best! Hope you have a wonderful and supportive community around you as well 😊 (English is not my native language)
To help free up space on the balcony, you could make makeshift shelves with cinder blocks and wood planks so you can stack the plants. The ones that can't take direct sunlight can go on the bottom!
You are soooo sweet, omg I LOVE playing your videos while I work on my blog. Your voice helps me get in the zone so well. I am moving into a new apartment in January and so I’m excited to use your guidance to start my new garden. Thank you!
I am using 4 IKEA outdoor “Läckö” shelves to organize orchids in Florida. The environment is very hard on things & these are holding up. The shelves drain very well. It also helps control how much sun they get & makes it easier to water, etc. I can hang the orchids in baskets on them too. When they are in bloom, it looks really good.
You make great green videos! I started watching some of your videos recently. I have been focusing on the garden plants for years, but just started decorating my place with indoor plants. The way you grow plants in your place is beautiful and impressive. I learn a lot from your videos!
You are my comfort person Benji. Every time I watch your videos I instantly feel in peace. Love your decorating style, I’m learning so much from you 🤍🌿
Your videos are so relaxing and authentic. I feel like I've just had a relaxing productive Saturday morning...and it's actually midnight Thursday haha!
I could listen to you all day long because you have an angelic voice. What a combination of nature and a voice of a gifted man. 🫢❤️ your show is amazing. I love plants.
I have started grapefruit and orange seeds several years ago, each summer I put them out on the deck along with the fig tree . They all enjoy the sun and heat of summer. As fall temps cool I will mover them back into the house for winter .
If you haven't tried it yet, Nasturium is a great edible plant! Beautiful peppery garnish. Used to have to take care of a couple plants that we harvested for service at a restaurant i used to work at
Hi Benji, I'm from Switzerland and I rarely comment but I thought I'd really like to comment on this one :) It's very kind and lovely of you that you're explaining to us your thought process behind the plant arrangement! I get a lot of inspiration from your videos, especially where you explain what your idea behind an arrangement/plant creation is!! Sharing your knowledge and your thoughts behind a project is really enlightening and helps me to improve my own plant care. 🍓 Thank you for the video and have nice day :) 🌱💮🌿
Your videos are really calming thanks a lot for that, im currently working away from my boyfriend for a couple of weeks and im having the worse time around here but your videos are really helping me to calm down and learn a new skill at the same time.
I think your balcony garden is lovely and would like to try some of your projects, maybe a water garden this season . I feel your house is so peaceful. No city smog🥰🥰
I love to see how other plant parents care for, style, arrange, repot and talk about their plants. I find your voice very soothing. Love the pup, too! I'll be visiting Chris' channel because enjoy books. Also, the noises you make "living noises" are a nice part of your recording. It adds nice touch to the realness of your video.
Yes lots more on plant design, patio and tending to plants and a pea or bean is great for your privacy screen from neighbours as it has lovely flowers and you get produce, otherwise I'd suggest a passiofruit as their flower is stunning, it grows hardy and quick and is easy to trim back to keep it contained, ohh and you get purple fruit...HAPPY PATIO GARDENING...Rozzie from Brisbane Australia...
You can attach cantilever rack on the exterior of the parapet wall. This free up the balcony space for putting a coffee table & chair and some plants. Can add wooden vertical trellis at both ends of the balcony. This can hide the outside piping and hang plants here as well.
I loved this video~! I really enjoyed how you talked about composition, using different textures, and layering the tallest to smallest plants on your balcony. Thank u for these ideas/tips I'll def use them in the future!
Great job! The new tree already improves the view by diverting attention away from the power wire mess in the background. It'll really be beautiful when it fills out!
I enjoy the sounds that is part of the enjoyment of watching plant videos. I love your doggy too so cute! I feel the same way about people watching me record. When I go to nurseries, I like try to hide.
I still live with my parents and we have a backyard garden. I convinced them that I could try out making an herb garden there this year!! So that's what I have been looking forward to this time!!
When I lived in an apartment, I had trellis just like yours and grew goya, summer veggie from Okinawa. People in Japan grow goya to create “green curtain” to block the intense summer sun and for privacy. I tried cucumber and beans before but they got devoured by bugs. Goya seems to be much tougher and do well in pots as long as it’s deep enough.
I don't usually comment on YT videos and this is the first time I've watched your video. But!! I just want to say your voice is so calming! LOVE your balcony garden!
I live alone and had trouble moving around plants with large pots, so I bought 4 caster wheels and attached them to a wooden plank, about 12"x12" in size. It spared me some back aches caused by lifting or dragging stuff.
I love your videos and plants, you're really inspiring. I have my own plants, but I'm moving to another town in September and I can't wait to start designing my new home with more plants. Greetings from Spain !!
You could stick little umbrellas or sun shades over your pearl plants :) Where I live people use a type of sun shade made of a vegetal material, like rattan, with the shape of an umbrella to protect plants from the sun.
I can see what you’re doing and I love the obvious care you take of your plants. You’re actually vertical planting. Maybe use wall pockets in places? The ferns would fill out and hide the felt. Maybe also some off the floor staging, (I use Ikea shoe racks) all the way/part way round to keep the ground plants off the ground and give a sense of space when viewed by the eye.
Yesterday my sis and I revamped our garden, while doing it we suddenly burst out laughing coz she said we looked like two old ladies who had nothing else to do but garden the whole day ….we are both in our teens , however love for flowers has been drummed into our heads by our parents…. Then I came across your channel…. and I said ok here’s someone like us ….thank you for your caring nature towards plants .
LOL! I love how you stepped out of one pair of (indoor) crocs to the same for outdoors! I too have crocs by my door for gardening on my tiny balcony. I love your demeanor and overall mellowness of the video. New subscriber here...
You could hang the string of pearls up and they could add some privacy as they trail down and would also get more shade on the top of the pots being higher and closer to the roof
Love this video. I moved to a nice apartment in Virginia Beach last July after selling my house. I have a balcony that is open on 3 sides and gets a ton of wind. I get light from east, southeast and some south. I love it, but oh, that wind! No hanging plants possible. I like your trellis. I could put that up on the windiest end, and find a sturdy vine that might help and put some green above the railing as well.
i discovered this channel today but there is something very calming and nice about your videos, the fact that it's just "the guy and his little plants" idk it makes me happy for some reasons loll
Loved this video!! I just rearranged and cleaned my entire patio! I’m so happy to have planted some lettuce and a whole section of pollinator plant seeds for this upcoming spring to add to the plant variety of my backyard and patio garden:)
I love the purple flowers in the purple pot. I unexpectedly bought some white roses and lavender for my balcony (and mint since bugs don't like it). Everything else I have is inside or in my (small) front yard.
You should think about maybe buying a rolling planter since you have some pretty heavy plants to move around would make your life easier! Loved the video great new set up excited to see the plants grow and climb
Happy Sunday Benji, Chris 🌷🌷🌷 I am getting my plants ready to move out on my porch for the summer. I live I NC so in May I put my plants out until it gets cold and my plants love it. Ok love your videos!!! Have a great Sunday you and your family 💖💖💖💖
Hey Benji, love your videos btw!! So calming!! I just got a great deal on two large trellises and an arbor!! So thats going to be my new plant project for Spring!! I need to see what plants do well on a trellis! That's what I was looking up on RUclips and then I saw you posted so I came here first!! Gotta support the people we admire and learn from!! Most definitely!! Im excited about my arbor the most though!! OMG!! I want it all green!! It would be so beautiful!! Also, on my two days off this past week, I redid my back porch like your doing your balcony and it feels sooooo freaking good to have that done!! And my plants are organized better and look much happier!! It feels good when you get everything in order and in its place!! No better feeling!! Can't wait for your next video!! Much love from Louisiana!!
Yes, I love the plant arrangng videos. I definitely think it's another art form! If I took away my plants, my home would look desolate, and artful placing is a must. I've been inspired by all of your videos.
Omg you have to get morning glory to take over the trail. It grows crazy fast, and can endure really hot weather. And you can never overwater them. They love water
Beautiful! I’m enjoying your home/balcony plant designs… love your fish pond in the balcony! ❤️ Just please make sure your balcony can hold all of that weight.
Yesss!! I love seeing more balcony centric videos. I also have a balcony, roughly the same size if not smaller than yours, and I have no idea how to design it. Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration!!
so happy you uploaded this today since I was watching a lot of your vids earlier. I love spring the most because that's when I can do all my fun repotting and I get to go out and buy lots of outdoor flowers/herb/veggies (winters in RI are brutal for plant lovers haha). I just love a good refresh :)
Im so glad i tumbled upon your youtube benji! I love plants, but im also very picky with my plants. So nice to find someone who has the same taste in plants and home life aesthetics! Your balcony looks super good and beautiful at night with the lanterns. Your whole place looks calming. Side note: I saw Theo checking out the String of Pearls. Please be careful he doesn’t get ahold of any. They are highly toxic to dogs. 💚
I’m so stoked for this spring :) I’m building a shade tent for my tropicals so they can go outdoors and size up a bit this summer. I’m from southern Ontario, so I try to take advantage of this nice warm weather! You’re videos inspire me for things I can do indoors during the winter, so keep it up Benji
I love how you speak it's so relaxing to listen and i love how you two have a calm positive hobbies that feeds the soul, you love plants and he loves books 😊😊😊❤❤❤
I’m sure you know this already, but pumice rocks can be placed all over the top soil to prevent dogs from digging in them. my dad does it :) they have two big dogs and lots of plants and the rocks have finally stopped the digging. I do the same at my place now bc of our cat and it really helps & can help w drainage 💕 love your content !
i love spring because of a lot of things: there is more sun and more rain (i immensely love both), nature borns again, the weather is hotter. when nature borns again i feel like i'm being born again, so my mental health gets better and evrything. i'm not planning to do a lot of things with my plants for spring, i'll just be excited for their blooms and growth
Your balcony looks super good and beautiful at night with the lanterns. Your whole place looks calming. Side note: I saw Theo checking out the String of Pearls. Please be careful he doesn’t get ahold of any. They are highly toxic to dogs.
My apartment has an outdoor space with raised beds and I was lucky enough to be selected for one so I'll be growing a tomato plant, squash, and various herbs!
Be sure to regularly spray the tomato plant to prevent pests, unfortunately we aren't the only ones finding them extra delicious haha, I've had severe caterpillar infestations every time I grew tomatoes if I missed a preventive spray.
New to your channel and find that we are in the same local area. I'm appreciating your sensibility in design, artistry and plant needs. I've loved plants all my life and see myself in you when I was your age (a very long time ago!). When I only had a balcony, I encountered the same privacy issues with windows facing me. Your lights are a delight. Perhaps a bougainvillea or a vining Asparagus fern (the lacy type which grows very rapidly) may add to that plant curtain. So fun. Loved the end result of your patio!
Oh my gosh I’m so excited for spring because I got a whole new space and I’m going to go all out on flowers and veggies I started last fall so I already have bulbs poking up!!!
I love the balcony. I have a HUGE lanai on the back of the house, that could use your help! I actually look forward to re-designing it asap! I live in zone 7, so I can only keep annuals, or zone 7 perennials in pots out there, and I move the tropicals in the winter and out in spring and summer, some of them anyway. Need a little simple shady pond out there too.
Love how easy-going you are, really put my mind at peace watching this. I try to be too perfect all the time and it just stresses me out. Love from India ♥️
Love the balcony! For climbing plants, I like jasmine because it smells good, but also can get thick and create more privacy. If you want an edible climbing plant, you can get peas!
I didn't know I make so many sounds when I pick things up until editing this video lol. I want to make a living plant wall!
One of my friends said that Benji’s personal style is “spicy minimalism” and I couldn’t agree more :)
That's cute!!
i wouldnt be able to describe it better
Nailed it
this is a perfect way to describe it
It’s very west coast too
Which I love ❤️
I’m from California & I miss it 😆
So I gravitate towards a west coast aesthetic
bro this is the most calm ive ever felt in my life ive never wanted to water my plants more, i aspire to be like you 🙏🙏

How I wish I have green fingers like you ! I can only admire plants but not grow them [ they always sooner or later just die ] Very nice.
RUclips randomly recommended this video, and I’m so glad it did. I think I just found the most wholesome person on RUclips. 😭🤍

Get the little wheelie boards/dolly for the big pots. Will save your backs and towels
It looks good! I’d definitely let the string of pearls be an underplanting to a succulent more sun tolerant. Maybe sempervivum?
Amo este canal, transmite demasiada paz. 💕

I love how you speak it's so relaxing to listen and i love how you two have a calm positive hobbies that feeds the soul, you love plants and he loves books 😊😊😊❤❤❤

give the pearls a tiny umbrella like they give you in your tropical drinks
My apartment has an outdoor space with raised beds and I was lucky enough to be selected for one so I'll be growing a tomato plant, squash, and various herbs!
Be sure to regularly spray the tomato plant to prevent pests, unfortunately we aren't the only ones finding them extra delicious haha, I've had severe caterpillar infestations every time I grew tomatoes if I missed a preventive spray.
Not caterpillars, green centipedes (?), I suck at insects sorry :D The advice still stands though!
Need a little simple shady pond out there too.
спасибо за ваше видео, оно очень комфортное и успокаивающее))
Lovely to see ur plants I like the purple clover type with the yellow flowers.
