When I was married at 21, my Father & I didn't have a great relationship, although he walked with me in the Church & "gave" me away, I was a very shy person, embarrassed to dance at the reception & chose to have only the bride/groom dance & delete the father/daughter dance. My Father died 3 yrs. later. I can't even imagine how hurt he must have been to have me delete the father/daughter dance. He never said anything, but I know! That wedding was 34 yrs. ago & it still haunts me that I could have hurt him that much. If I could have him back for 5 minutes, I would tell him how sorry I was & ask him to dance with me. Please, don't be so hard on yourself. My Daughter married in 1998, and the wedding reception was so byzantine, if you know the expression. I walked my Daughter down the aisle, but we never had a Father/Daughter dance. It was never exactly planned, so it never was announced and we didn't dance. To this day I think about it every now & then. I don't know that my Daughter (Bridget) does. I can only guess it wasn't that important to her, as we never spoke of it. She was our first born, and I was on top the world when she was born. I really don't know that she realizes how much I love her. I'm 81 now, and at my age one thinks (a lot) about all the missed opportunities, and the regrets. This video really brought it all back.

Im 34 and my wife and I dont have any kids. This week were are taking in a 17 year old girl whos dad has been in jail her whole life and her mom basically has told her she cant take care of her anymore. I am truly terrified to say the least. I hope I can be a decent "father" figure to her and maybe one day when she gets married I can be happy that I made the decision to help her out.
My husband never knew his dad...after over 30 years of absence and with help from a relative of mine who bought him an ancestry DNA test, we now know where he is and have contact info. I've emailed him a few times but contacting him himself is not something my husband is ready to do yet. I can't imagine the feelings there. I honestly wasn't sure we'd ever find him. Now I just pray they'll be able to develop a connection.

When I saw this video, I fell in love with it. Then the inevitable happened, I lost my brother in 2019 and then my dad in 2021. My wedding is coming up in September and decided to incorporate this into the Father Daughter dance. I'm going to cry like a baby!!!

I watch this over & over & cry every time. When I was married at 21, my Father & I didn't have a great relationship, although he walked with me in the Church & "gave" me away, I was a very shy person, embarrassed to dance at the reception & chose to have only the bride/groom dance & delete the father/daughter dance. My Father died 3 yrs. later. I can't even imagine how hurt he must have been to have me delete the father/daughter dance. He never said anything, but I know! That wedding was 34 yrs. ago & it still haunts me that I could have hurt him that much. If I could have him back for 5 minutes, I would tell him how sorry I was & ask him to dance with me. I was so young then & didn't even think about it, what a fool! I had the chance & blew it! Some people don't get the chance! I love you Dad & I'm so sorry! This was such a beautiful, heartwarming video. To have siblings & family members care so much is a Blessing!

I walked my Daughter down the aisle, but we never had a Father/Daughter dance. It was never exactly planned, so it never was announced and we didn't dance.
To this day I think about it every now & then. I don't know that my Daughter (Bridget) does. I can only guess it wasn't that important to her, as we never spoke of it.
She was our first born, and I was on top the world when she was born. I really don't know that she realizes how much I love her. I'm 81 now, and at my age one thinks (a lot) about all the
missed opportunities, and the regrets. This video really brought it all back.

I lost my Dad to cancer when I was 11yrs old. When I got married, I chose not to have dancing at yhe reception because I couldn't dance with my dad, who was the one who taught me how to dance when I was just a lttle girl. This is beautiful and heartbreaking, and I am balling missing my own daddy.

Im 34 and my wife and I dont have any kids. This week were are taking in a 17 year old girl whos dad has been in jail her whole life and her mom basically has told her she cant take care of her anymore. I am truly terrified to say the least. I hope I can be a decent "father" figure to her and maybe one day when she gets married I can be happy that I made the decision to help her out.
My husband never knew his dad...after over 30 years of absence and with help from a relative of mine who bought him an ancestry DNA test, we now know where he is and have contact info. I've emailed him a few times but contacting him himself is not something my husband is ready to do yet. I can't imagine the feelings there. I honestly wasn't sure we'd ever find him. Now I just pray they'll be able to develop a connection.
