Facts
Seering techno energy
I used to listen to Dave Clarke when I was 14 back in '89, when he used to do a show on Thursday nights on Radio One between 11 and 1.
amazing times!
White Noize is still worth a listen.
Seen Dave in Leeds earlier this year top night
Was that for the JOY event?
Wow! Super cool! - Red 2 is my gun to head favorite techno track.
It's a monster that never fails :)
@Wax on Wax off orly
A 3630 compressor.. mastered on tape. And Nilz doing the mastering..
What an amazing time in music!
So true! Very fresh exciting and creative time
I once made a demo for him and brought it to a ravehe was djing. He was so positive and approachable just following his set. Big moment for me.
Good stuff.
Great stuff Ara. I'm glad I found your channel!
Hey Mark! Hope you're well dude, glad you enjoyed!
MOOD2 SWING please the way we do it ! please !!!!! or any of their classics...

♥ tnx!
The Baron of Techno
YES!! thank you!!!
I have spent literally 27 years trying to recreate the sounds from Red 2 on synthesizers. Could get close to the chord on a Jupiter 6. NEVER could work out the sweep. And now you’re telling me they were just lying there in the clear on records I already owned?
Anyway…. Was also at that Tribal Gathering in 96, was pretty special.
27 years! haha crazy. It was.a sample yes! but a lot of processing when into it, I got it close but I would have love to get it even closer, wow I wish I could have been there :)
Thank you for this! This is such a fantastic interview and breakdown of the track. Respect!
Awesomeness!
Yes sir!
I loved the question about the favorite heavy metal band. "Heavy What?"
Hahahaha they all get stumped on that one
Super Inspiring Interview - so pleased to hear the history of his personal artistic development. Cheers!

Cool glad you liked it!
This was really good to see and hear... Dave was one if my biggest influences in the early 90s. His style is THe fkn shieeet... i remember when i first booked him on a Wednesday night in Budapest back in 99. I am sure he has good memories of that night :) thank you Dave for all the good memories you gave me and thank you Ara for this little nostalgic rewindaladingdong. Pz

Thank you!
awsome! game changer indeed.dave clarke laughing :D thats always a joy
It's true lol
@@AgentOrangeTheDJ like i said on facebook, a humbling experience this clip!
What a decent guy. My musical taste went the opposite from cheesy house in 93 round to prog and techno in more recent times. Even back then however red 2 appealed to me. Everyone knew THAT track. I love this video and the way you break it down. Thanks.
Thanks a lot!! fun to make them but a TON of work.
You are 25 years to late, the vinyl is already pressed.
Nice Gizmos.😊 and nice stories from Dave.
Never too late! Haha
@@AgentOrangeTheDJ
this masterpeace never gets old.😇
This is fantastic Ara
Tnx Simon!
Bravo! There is only one Clarkey! If only more DJs had Dave’s integrity when it comes to the techno scene it would be in a far better state! He has always stuck to his principles and NEVER sold out! “DONT SUCK CORPORATE COCK”! Take a bow Dave “The Baron” Clarke! HERO ! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Facts.
Go, Ara, amazing prog!! Big UP from Bulgaria!! ;)
Thanks!
Incredible video!
Tnx!
Thank you so much for this. Ive always wanted to know how to remake this. I never knew it was a piano or reverse string. That reverse string is one of my favourite sounds ever.
Awesome, glad you enjoyed it!
great interview!
Thank u!
Hey Christian I’m a big fan love you’re work! Especially some of the newer stuff like Friendly Skies and Flyertalk! Also older stuff with John Selaway! Another hero of mine ! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great job! Oh please do Red 1
I was at tribal 96 he was amazing, best party I've ever been to
that's so cool!
Great deconstruction of a great track 😊
Cool thanks! Just so cool how it still sounds fresh today
@@AgentOrangeTheDJ Yes that’s right.Alltime favorite 🤩
I admit it I was totally wrong. Growing up I always loved Dave Clarkes music however from what I saw in things like DJ and Mixmag I thought he came across as really self important and pretentious and I couldn't have been more wrong seeing this interview he is such a down to earth, knowledgeable and humble guy and this goes against the impression I got from dance music magazines but this is all I had to go on as internet wasn't as big a thing back then and I lived in an area where the decent big name djs didn't really go much so never got to see him live, sorry Dave for growing up with the wrong impression of you, I always loved your music though.
I think that image was put out there because he doesn’t take any BS. Cuts to the chase but is always honest. Got to love that about him.
Yeah i definitely think he played up to that image, but no doubt hes a bit like that.
People were offended by DC back in the 90s, imagine all the snowflakes now🤣
"Dont Suck Corporate Dick"
Really enjoyed that, met his Clarkeness a few years ago in Dublin and he kindly signed my copies of Red 1-3, now framed! Great interview and the deconstruction of the track was excellent too man
wow 1 2 and 3 awesome! thanks was fun too make :) more on the way
Met Dave a few times in Dublin too! I only live down the road in Naas! Saw him playing Livevin the Redbox playing with all his gear live not DJing! All his own music live and it was outstanding! Met him at globalgathering in Mallow co.Cork and he stood and chatted with me for ages and asked me where was I going next! I replied over there to that tent to see your set hurry up or you will be late ! A legend! Wish more DJs were like our Dave !
@@colmmullins hurry up or you will be late ! bhahahahahaha
@@colmmullins Yeah I was at that show too, it was the Devil's Advocate tour.
@@colmmullins I was at that gig too, off me box
oh snap. I never knew he sampled Brutal House. I knew about Kevin Sanderson sampling if for Big Fun, though! 🎉
ayo dixas
Awesome Ara!! Great breakdown and a really quality interview.. Brought me right back to SF. I used to lose my shit when Junior would drop this lol..
OG SF, now that's what I like to hear! :)
@@AgentOrangeTheDJ Oh 100% bro.. I was there every weekend. It was my first "city club" back in '92. I was a raver kid before that, but that club pretty much changed everything for me. I became a club kid lol.
I'm excited for you, and to see who you're going to have on next. Keep rockin!!
@@riksantiago that's pretty rad :)
so thats what all those buttons on Star Wars space ships do.
To be fair I did see Kraftwerk.
Did dave Clarke confirm that the RED 2 stab was from NITRO DELUXE?
He did, it was 😃
He was in his rhythm..... ok thanks bye
Red 3 - Thunder is ace too..
it sure is! :)
Loving this series. Great content. Watched the Royal House / Todd Terry one last night.
As you're from NJ, any chance of doing a 'DJaimin - Hindu Lover' one?
Big one, nice! - was that a Zanzibar tune?
@@AgentOrangeTheDJ Yup.
Awesome, I wonder if Jeff Mills played this tune at SoundStorm Saudi Arabia ?
Haha, wow controversial!
I was at that tribal gathering wish I knew Dave was on at the same time because I couldn't get in the tent for kraftwerk. I wish I could of gone and watched Dave I was there.
Ah just missed! Did you catch him anytime after?
@@AgentOrangeTheDJ there was to much on to be honest watched Sven vath. Later on about 5 in morning in the techno tent but the line up at tribal gathering must of been one of the best line ups ever at a dance music festival every legend who are still around was there in every dance music genre. It was 1997 is well the last big tribal gathering. Shame they didn't do more after that one.
@@Rex-dk1rx that's so wild, I remember seeing the flyers and reading about it in the UK DJ Mags. I remember the line ups being mega stacked. Papa Sven was so mad back then too haha 140 bpm German techno Train Rides and he was the4 conductor haha wish I could revisit!
@@AgentOrangeTheDJ techno was definitely faster them days. But at the time I was in to progressive house big Sasha Digweed fan at the time but later that year started to get in to techno especially when Dave Clarke started to do the new Techno Electro albums. Also just started to go to a club in Liverpool called Voodoo and watched Billy Nasty, David Holmes when he was still doing techno sets. And also used to go to the full on Nights at cream Liverpool. I first watched Dave Clarke at the Orbit in Leeds but that was 1998. Plus Joey Beltrám was on that night and Marco Bailey. New year's Eve. Voodoo was a top small techno club. Also got see The advent Cisco and Mr G on the decks they was awesome. I was a regular at that club seen loads of techno legends
@@Rex-dk1rx facts. yes S&D was big then we had Twilo here in NYC so we got so much good talent through there - S&D, Sven, Cox (ultimate base), PVD, Mills, Paris Is Burning all had residencies
Aril Brikha - Groove La Chord
oh yes these are great! already had Aril on my list :)
Nice joe meek in the rack there!
haha nice catch!
@@AgentOrangeTheDJ hahaha have a couple myself!
Infiniti - Game One, Aphex Twin - Didgeridoo, Suburban Knight - The Art of Stalking,
Are you the guy from NYC who was quite active on livesets.com? 🤪
actually yes! haha nice flash back, Becka used to have her show there :D
Speedy J - Krekc
Laurent Garnier - The Man With The Red Face
Renato Cohen - Pontape
Ohhhh!
Yeah defo pontape
@@johnnyallen4594 TUNE!
Hey dude why is your FAT1 compressor purple ?
It's the FatMan by HHb - I think the US release was purple? I could be wrong, I bought it used a while back
@@AgentOrangeTheDJ It looks damn cool in purple, I have one in the standard red colour.. Apparantly you can swap out the valves in them for slightly different flavors of saturation but I havent tried yet..
PS I LOVE your interviews and channel in general so far, Can you do an ECHOPLEX record? He has his own youtube channel called Techno Masterclass and im sure he would love to chat.. Maybe his track Rainshell or Forerunner would be good to recreate? Thanks man!
@@albionpatterns3986 oh cool thanks man. I had to take a little break from that project, I was working like 18 hours a day for 3 months and got really burnt out haha. ECHOPLEX is great for sure, I remember his early stuff too. I will add to the list for the future.
