    Biata . Not for the first time I’ve got to say what an amazing person you are. Just love your attention to detail and how you’re going to make the most amazing home. Not sure I’d be looking forward to drywall as much as you are, but it will make an amazing difference very quickly. Can’t wait until next weeks video. Love and respect from the old man in the UK

    when drilling that hole that kept binding, if you had turned the handle so it was against the vertical stud then the stud would stop it from turning and hurting your wrist. not sure if i explained it clearly. let t he drill turn till it hits the wall then leave it in that position so it cant turn any more. thats a trick that helps if there is something near the hole to stop the drill from being able to turn. there are drills that have a built in function that cuts the power when it binds so it doesnt break your wrist.....tho those ones are probably super expensive. i just heard about them in the last few weeks. also watch out you dont smack yourself in the face with the drill when it binds....ive done that. you can easily break your nose. i was lucky and it wasnt going fast soo i didnt cause any major damage. but ive done it twice lol

    I can't get over how much more you are confident in your ability compared to earlier videos. Keep it up, almost there. BTW I gave you wrong information in an earlier video. The box in the pantry of electrical boxes reads Iberville not Bienville. (around 20:40) Bienville was the founder of New Orleans and Iberville was his older brother. Okay so much for useless information. Keep it up, everything looks great.

    Brianna on your drywall screws by a drywall screw setter that goes on your drill and make sure you don’t have your drill set too too high on your setting you know like we were setting it on like seven or eight or 10 that way it sets the screw in the clutch, takes care of the restof the drill.

    Good morning, B 👍.
    Shimming is not the most interesting work to do, and the work itself ends up invisible - but, thankfully, the resulting straightness, be it square or plumb, is worth it 👍👍.
    Insulating the inner walls not only dampens sound, it also allows you to temper the different rooms differently at lower cost. Just be careful not to cause condensation on the colder side of the wall....
    Congratulations on getting ready to put up dry wall, and getting the dry wall plates. Your house really gets to look like a home now 👍👍👍. I am so happy for you and your family. Take care.

    Biata, don’t spend time on your door openings. When you install the jambs or trim in you will be shimming them. That’s when you true up the
    openings. 3/8” out of plump is not excessive and easy to shim later. Rememember you are “rough framing” so far. Cam will be your pro partner when finishing as it’s his profession as an installer. Great progress.

    Hi Biata! Putting in the insulation really starts to show how it will look when it is completed. I'm sure the extra insulation will also help with the warmth and not only the noise levels. Your level of perfectionism will be rewarded at the end when you see the final results, every little bit you improve now will be worth it. Now to the dry wall, and then it's finishing touches! See you next week, take care, Naomi x

You got it on the handle where you’re pulling the trigger put it on the rounded part on top of the drill as you’re pushing straight down to the bit that way you won’t be jumping around as much you’re your cocking your drill to the side because of the fact that it is, you’re holding it by the trigger and not putting white right directly down over the bed straight over the bit

    Consider running speaker wires, 5.1 surround is way better than any tv speaker or sound bar.
    CAT6 for PoE cameras, Reolink has great PoE system.
    18/2 wires to each window for Lutron smart blinds, little fancy but if you get the insulating cellular blinds, you can program them to close at night to save heat and open in the morning for gentle wake up.
    On the topic of Lutron, you can also get smart light switch to check, turn on/off lights away from home, and have a switch by home entrance to turn off all the lights in the home.
    Also good opportunity for Lutron and Reolink sponsor. 😉

      A sheer wall is usually on exterior walls, rake walls or where a roof truss would have lateral force. If the engineer didn't call for it it isn't necessary. However, it provides better thermal isolation, soundproofing, and for future fixtures, hanging cabinets, shelves, etc. It's structural support, especially in areas where heavy objects need to be mounted, like kitchens or bathrooms. Push in on drywall without it, you'll experience the difference. The horizontal forces acting on a structure is partly why, and idk who gave her the idea that it would be any different, or that you will forever constantly be "attempting" "level" everywhere, but actually making things worse, when I already explained this to her, but anyway, it would of been less of a "problem" if the walls were sheeted. While true you want your walls to be straight, "straight" is inline with everything else, Not in line with "level". She'll learn.
      All that said, it is what 60$ a board these days? Cost is a factor.

    • @JoakimBjornander
      @JoakimBjornander 9 дней назад

      @ The main purpose would be as a fastening surface. It simplifies mounting fixtures without needing to locate studs. It also improves the sound insulation, but that you've already addressed, in your video.
      I realize it's not as common in north America, but in Scandinavia it's been standard for many years to use OSB + drywall and I would never live without it again.

    • @LibelLinus304
      @LibelLinus304 9 дней назад

      @JoakimBjornander I stated that already. It's actual main purpose is structural and is why you'll see it on in construction sites. And it won't be installed throughout. There are a few methods that would address your "main" purpose that is usually actively used. I'm not an armchair contractor, I actually do build homes. Either way it's not necessary here or it would be in the engineering plans. Want me to explain that too?

    • @JoakimBjornander
      @JoakimBjornander 8 дней назад

      @ No one has said that it's necessary. It's mainly a convenience that I don't understand why north American homes don't have.

    Too late for my reply, but just an FYI, for you make sure you have all your backing and behind anywhere you have cabinets where your toilet paper roller goes towel holders in the bathroom and measure up. Take pictures so you know where everything is at. Also, it’s best to get the longest sheets of drywall possible that gives you less joints to mud But you already have your drywall here where I’m at and me being a contractor I can buy 20 foot sheets of drywall and I don’t know if it is cold in Canada but on the states you have to use 5/8 thick drywall on the ceiling ceilings and the ceilings get put in first ….. Stay Safe and The best of luck to you….. also I put up full sheets that might go past a doorway and then use a router and trim around where the door opening is and it trims your drywall giving you clean edges 🇺🇸👊🏼👊🏼✌🏼🪚🔨

    Keep in mind that finished drywall is not flat. Butt joints done properly will raise 1/4" - 3/8" above the surface and should be feather at least 12" on either side of the joint. Factory joints will be 3/16" to 1/4" raised above the surface and should be feathered 8-10" beyond the centre of the joint. Un-shimmed strapping will help equalize the drywall and only matters if you are aiming for a paint finish. However, textured (ie yechy popcorn) was applied to hide imperfections in the ceiling. The nicest compromise IMHO is to have the drywall finishers apply a knock-down ceiling. Pot lights will help to hide ceiling imperfections where sconces and up lighting will accentuate imperfections and joints along the edges. So, for the most perfect job focus on making corners and inside corner joints as straight as possible. And finally putting a poor paint job over great drywall job will ruin your expectations. While I wold encourage you to attempt the finishing yourself, it takes years to perfect the tools and application of joint compound to create a good finish. It would be best to hire a good finisher based on word of mouth recommendations. Avoid cheap or inexpensive finishers. Like your fascia and soffit guys helped you you really need professionals for this job.

    Acoustic insulation should be dense. Compressing it is good. Not same as thermal insulation.

      I just used what I had, and it works great! I’m sure it’s not as good as the acoustic insulation

      @@SimpleLivingwithBiata I get it, but what I was reacting to were your verbal instructions to people to leave it nice and fluffy. For accoustic, this is incorrrect.

    Gotta say B, your doing a great job. But in the future could you wear some other color when doing the insulation. It was hard to see you for the pink insulation. You blended in so. Also isnt it customary to do insulation on hot humid summer days when it can stick on you easier. Keep goin kid your doin great ❤Boston

    Bro, one of your hands should be at the back of the motor on top of the drill. You got it on the handle where you’re pulling the trigger put it on the rounded part on top of the drill as you’re pushing straight down to the bit that way you won’t be jumping around as much you’re your cocking your drill to the side because of the fact that it is, you’re holding it by the trigger and not putting white right directly down over the bed straight over the bit hey Brian, why don’t you take a level and draw your level line just above there where 3/8 is and run a saw across there and take that back to the level length from corner to corner and then you’ll be OK on your drywall. You’re only supposed to use inch and a quarter screws.

    This is a radical idea in these days, but if you had a small hand saw up on the scaffolding it would of been quicker .

    Certainly moving forward, I wouldn't have put the drywall in the bedtooms, you'll end up moving it twice more, complete floor space for the lid, I hope your using a drywall lift? There is a way of loading a house, try to minimize how many times you muscle a sheet, that will wear you out! What ever you do, do not line up your butt joints! Your mudd will crack at the joints, half or at least one quarter of a sheet stagger, like brick patterns, good luck

      @SimpleLivingwithBiata I've left the smaller rooms empty, and loaded in your case the walls along the cathedral ceiling so you have enough room to handle sheets going up on the ceiling and enough room to work, I've had to do whole houses like yours by myself, you make every motion count, get about 8 to 10 screws in each sheet, always mark your rafters, studs, with a screw so you don't miss, hang and secure, then move to the next, once a room is done being hung, go to the next room or plane, those vaults are going to be rough so brace yourself, you can go back and screw the rest of the rooms anytime, Idk if your code has screw inspections or not but it's usual of 5 screws off a 4 foot span, one on each end one in the middle and 2 between the gap off center, a screw tip will help immensely, 1 1/4-1 5/8 nominal screw lengths, I just use a cordless drill, I've done all the fancy tools to zip them in but a drill with the right tip does the job, if you have any questions before you start ask away I'll be at the phone today,

    I was assuming you were trimming out the closet. I shouldn’t assume. 😊 I wasn’t a fan of drywall finishing door openings. They always got dinged up. But not against it. 😊

      I think it will make more sense once the cabinet try goes in :). It’s only like 2” of the corner that’s going to show and then it will be the cabinet :)! I will be finishing the two big doorway openings with drywall but there won’t be doors hung on it

    Drywall is boring, BUT WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT MAKES! You think the insulation made it feel like rooms - well the drywall will brighten it all up and you will be amazed at the difference. Then comes the tedious part - taping and mudding! BUT it's getting you that much closer to moving in!!! YAY!

    The reason your hole saw is jumping around like that is because the pilot bit is too short. It looks like it is barely sticking beyond the saw, but maybe it's just my perspective from the video? If it protrudes a bit further so that it can get down in to the wood, the saw will stay in place. Some down pressure on the drill will help too!
    Drywall....oh...you're gonna have fun with that. Hanging it is the easy part....muddin' and tapin' and sandin'...well....embrace the suck. You'll get it though, no doubt!

    I would put the TV lower. really as low as it can go - when you sit in the sofa and put your feet on something, so your feet are not in the view of bottom of TV. Than you can just watch straight in front of you and not hurt your neck facing up all the time.
