Maybe they meant to say "undisclosed sponsored content", since they don't think he bought it himself. Though I don't know why they think that. It's pricey but not outrageously so. I'm sure he'd still be profiting from the video overall.

I looked into this robot dog, and the promotional material he showed is from the $50,000 model. He bought the $2,700 one, which is why it had limited capability

It'd be pretty awesome to see what Boston Dynamics can do and enter it into a proper agility competition. Deep learning model that lets you train it over the courses like you would with a real dog.
Watching the performance I could just imagine the guys and Boston Dynamics frowning and saying "Hold my beer!"
Honestly, yes, Boston Dynamics can do a way better job, but these dogs can also be programmed to do a lot of stuff. I think Zac took the stock version and didn't do any programming on top which means the Robot could actually perform a lot better
It'd be interesting to see, but agility dogs are bonkers. I have no idea how a robot would realistically do the dodging things in anywhere close to the same time as a real dog
@Van Goghs Severed Ear yeah but have you seen the actual proper Bostom Dynamics ones? This thing is just a toy, the high end BD ones, with their incredible programming are on a whoooooole other level.

I don't think they would be able to perform. They aren't really domesticated and man's best friend and they're very very skiddish and antisocial. I watched one for a friend and I had to basically be with her for 2 weeks straight and she really didn't like other people let alone people coming up to try to pet her. She was very very protective of me though which was kind of cool though.
@@deekamikaze I understand that taking a wolf to a dog show probably isn't very good for the wolf. For that mater, I object to shows in general. In-breeding to such specific standards is unhealthy for the dogs in general. My original comment was more meant as a variation of "the main trick they know is to not eat the other contestants."

I think you fell for the clickbait. That wasn’t Crufts, it was a local dog show, look closely at the picture that led you here, the backdrop is Crufts, but the “dog” is Spot from Boston Dynamics.
Having the robot be in a resting position with it's legs bent like that, looks like he is getting ready to attack. No wonder most dogs didn't like it one bit😅😋

Quite a few robot dogs you can program so you don’t need to use the controller, that would be a way to get around the regulations, just program the routine into the dog and have it do it automatically.
Under ideal circumstances that would be an option. But if I have 3 days and a life performance I trust a person controlling it more.

If you really think about it, Zac did not break the one person guiding the dog rule because once Scott was in control of Roobot, he was the sole controller. Zac was merely a prop for Roobot's show.

Dog body language should be the first goal of the programmers for a bot dog. Fake breath and bum smell should allow communication with all dogs . It will need ears as well as a tail.🤔

@@SheikhAli2009 I’m from Boston/US and the original robot dog is SPOT is from Boston Dynamics. Spots on the news a lot and can do a lot more than this junky Chinese version. It cost $50,000…lot more than $2,500.

I have always suspected the videos of the robot dogs were covering up the deficiencies of the hardware.
So it is nice to see this real life adventure of a boy and his Roodog without editing it to make the performance look better!
I mean, not really. The stuff you see elsewhere are the more sophisticated $20,000+ commercial models, this one's almost a tenth or ninth of that. Plus, the main thing would probably be the software - not like this has got Boston Dynamics-level visual detection, for example. All I'm saying is this probably isn't representative of the 'real' capability of other robot dogs, especially not within other videos who are more than likely using more expensive models, or if not, have people involved that are good at software.
