This man. This gift. I thank You Father for Your faithful ones. Please join me brothers and sisters in asking for more brave, submitted men ready to speak and act according to Your goodness and their calling. Women too, of course.

Where can I find people who are ready to live in community like Dallas describes? I have tried to engage in men’s groups in various churches, Sunday school classes and of course worship and service opportunities. The issue of character formation is never really addressed. Change yes but from a position purely focused on the will and trying harder. Especially in men’s groups. C’mon guys we’re not stepping up, work harder, commit, do better, get an accountability partner who also is caught in the same will focused mindset. It seems hopeless and without a practical application I can access. God help me find this community on the seemingly deserted island where I live.

Hey Dan, I’m not sure what denomination you’re part of, but you might find some friends and community in Orthodox Christian circles. There seems to be a movement of young men (and men of other ages) stepping up to embrace holiness in a way particular to men.
I became Orthodox myself a couple years ago (BTW, I am a woman), but I grew up happily Southern Baptist and still seek holy people to learn from across denominations.
I know this isn’t a super detailed reply, but you might start by looking into Jonathan Pageau and the “Lord of Spirits” podcast. (If you don’t follow them already.)
There are online communities associated with both Jonathan and Lord of Spirits. I ended up in a Christian writing circle run by novelist Nicholas Kotar, an Orthodox author in that network.
Some of us in these communities have gotten to meet in person (myself included), and many have joined churches and communities IRL (also myself included).
I don’t mean this as a pitch for Orthodoxy-I just see a lot of movement in those communities, especially for men. It is really cool to see ❤

@@elusivemayfly7534 thank you very much, I will look into these resources. Funny, our son was raised in a Southern Baptist Church and he began attending the Orthodox Church while in Boston at college. He now has joined a local Orthodox Church here in Kernersville NC. I’ve visited, it’s much different and lots of standing which is too much for my old knees!😂 Nevertheless I am open to finding Christian community that embraces the Kingdom here, now in our midst not sitting around waiting for a rapture to go somewhere else.
