Remembering Dallas—Chapter 9: Imprint
In this final installment of Remembering Dallas, friends of Willard reflect on the imprint he left on their lives and consider whether his thoughts and ideas would find permanence within the timeline of church history. Interwoven with their reflections is footage from Dallas’s final recorded teaching. Appropriately, one of his last lessons to a gathering of believers was on the profound act of blessing those around them.

Part 4: Discovering Our Personal Significance
Thank you for this series. The one on the gospel Jesus preached and how change happens clearly communicate what Jesus wanted his followers to know and experience. I have given thanks so many times I discovered Dr. Willard in 2013.
Loved these comments from those who personally knew Dallas; I've read many of their books as well
Praise Jesus for the life and person of Dallas Willard. Such a blessing to the whole world.
Willard very definitely believes God has spoken through Jesus Christ in the flesh and recognizes the power of following His teachings concerning baptism, the Lord's Table and the body of Christ. Willard's emphasis upon Christian disciplines clarify in my mind, his rejection of gnosticism.
Here’s a link to the pdf of the book Dallas highly recommended at the 38:30 point. ia601602.us.archive.org/19/items/lifeofgodinsoulo00scou/lifeofgodinsoulo00scou_bw.pdf
Thank you Trevor. Once again my life has been deeply touched by times of silence with my Lord. Would you please let me know when you do silent retreats. I would love to attend . My first experience was at "In Harmony". It changed my life Blessings Monica

Revelatory
I'm busy with SEEKING GOD at the moment.
Have my serious side too.
Thank you so much to all who have made this series possible. I love it!
We had a house church in the 70s that drew hundreds of troubled students and adults. Their needs were great so I began to read about healing communities. I saw that healing communities had to have a community of people struggling to heal and grow in concert with each other. AA was a model. As were intentional psychological groups in England and Scandinavia. Two principles are required. Community that accepts everyone and healing from every member of the community. Modern churches generally have neither. Thus, growth and healing are rare.
I love this and relisten to it
Who are you?
Good job spreading the gospel! Good luck on your popularity😄😁
Uitsteekenk boodskap boet!
Show people the Glorious King and His kingdom and how to live there!
Very insightful. I've been listening to a lot of Dallas Willard in the last week and hoping to find him talk a little about 2 Co 3:18 and the transformative function of beholding the Eternal Spirit of Jesus in the OT stories in the way Jesus talked about it. Jesus makes a big deal about it in John 3, 5, and of course by His first resurrection priority in Luke 24.
Wow, this is one of his best.
Trevor, you make our faith cool ! Thank you boet 🫶🙏
Thinking eternally begins when you realize that Your God sent His Son to live, die and resurrect for us to be rejoined in communion. Once that realization is living within, the knowing eternity is ours and that we have the Paraklete, the Holy Spirit within, nothing can harm us. Deity, death and resurrection are the three truths that assure us of this. Amen & Shalom
This is so important. I'm confident many simply profess belief that isn't established on knowledge. I've been guilty of this on multiple levels and concepts. Excellent teaching by the right person.
Wonderful! Thank you so much for this clear, so beautiful, inspiring presentation. I have been deeply blessed 🙏
Agree 100% ! just finished writing a proclamation as to how my beloved wife's Fate became an instrument of white-coat criminals/ money worshipping Bariatric surgeons as they practiced contrary to the oath of professionalism. The 2.5 pages took Week to complete! Emotionally and physically very tiresome! It will be read as to where politicians hang out, state house, senate as well as courts and DOJ. She was betrayed!
50:31 Beautiful words about the Trinity.
This conversation was a gift. Thank you both so much!
Beautiful! Thank you so much for this! I am just beginning to pray the Spiritual Exercises for the first time (at 58) and this was a wonderful and very thoughtful introduction to St Ignatius…
👊🏿⭐️❤️🙏🏿

I stumbled across this and I’m so glad I did. Thank you!
I appreciate the commitment to truth, beauty, and goodness in the works of Conversatio Divina. The fact that you produce these videos with excellence no matter what your viewership is testifies to the way you guys think about God. A wise man once said "You don't have to announce the revolution". Thanks for all you do.

What book is he reading out of?
His own book - Renovation of the Heart
Beautiful: "This blessing, given by Moses to his brother Aaron to place upon the people of Israel, is a powerful expression of God’s protection, grace, and peace. When you say to someone, "God bless you and keep you," you are invoking God’s presence and asking Him to bring good into their life. You are asking for God’s protection, for His face to shine upon them-a symbol of His favor and love. The shining face of God is something radiant, like the face of a grandparent beaming at their grandchild. It’s a powerful image of love and blessing. We also ask God to be gracious, to let His love and goodness flow into the life of the person we are blessing. And finally, we ask God to lift up His countenance upon them-meaning to look directly at them with His manifest presence-and give them peace. Peace comes in the presence of God, and that is what we are asking for when we bless someone. As we live in the kingdom of God, blessing others becomes a natural part of our life. It’s impossible to bless someone and harm them at the same time. Blessing transforms everything. Imagine becoming a person of blessing, known for the light and love that flows from you. This is how we should be identified: as people from whom blessings flow, because God lives in us. In our churches, in our communities, and in our lives, we should focus on receiving and giving blessings. This practice can change everything. Even in difficult circumstances, we can bring blessing into the situation, and it will make a profound difference. When we approach life with a mindset of blessing, it affects everyone and everything around us. Imagine a community where blessing is the norm. People would see the reality of God’s love and the work of His kingdom in us. We become points of light, spreading His goodness in the world. Let us aim to be people of blessing, living out that calling in every aspect of our lives." (Philosopher Dallas Willard)
Thank you for producing and promoting this series of provocative workshops, papers, presentations and responses. The topic is one I have pursued since receiving an Ed D in Counselor Education where I developed a process of crafting ways to “Equip God’s people to do ministry.” The research convinced me that the greatest mental, emotional, and spiritual need is not primarily ‘counseling’ but growth into maturity. I called my ministry, the Teleios Center, not a Counseling Center. This emphasis was not accepted in either Christian or Counseling circles. It is a systemic focus on building the whole of the ‘church’ not just individuals. Psych research is clear. One person growing in health and maturity is too weak to resist the power of a group of immature people. Thus, we equipped groups of people at church to interact with healthy thinking and relating. Groups draw the lonely, frightened, and broken toward health and maturity. When Jesus is powerfully present in the boat they might progress but humans rarely show the wisdom and power of Jesus. In 1969 I was a lonely Evangelical at a Counseling conference. I was mocked and shamed as an academic who believed in the healing and maturing power of Christ. A famous Psychologist in our small group spoke up for me. He said, “The early Christian Church was the most powerful therapeutic community the world has ever known. I am an atheist but I know the history of therapy.” O.H. Mowrer. I had never heard any Christian even discuss healing or need for healing. Just be saved and forget the rest. I returned to my job at the University of Cincinnati with a fire to focus on growth and healing in churches. I have equipped leaders and congregations in ways to facilitate that process in over 50 nations. We have only scratched the surface.
How do I have the faith that Dallas had? I'm stuck in theory. I've never had an experience of the unseen world. I would love to know it and to know it's true
I wish that too. But a day will come when our theories will be put to the test and when we see Dallas he'll say,, I told you so, and what a glorious day it will be. God bless.
@@cephasmcpher67peteroutdoorspip what a lovely reply! Thank you.
If you want the faith that Dallas had, you would (at least) do the things that Dallas did. That makes sense. You would think about the things he thought about. Dallas' faith was the product of spending days and months walking on a path, so he wasn't born with that faith. In other words, you can have it as well. I'm a several years down the path myself!
@samthemanB3 thank you! I know it's obvious but sometimes the obvious is easily forgotten. Thanks for the friendly reminder
This is so touching.
Thank you for continuing this conversation.
