Been listening since the 80s and his playing fascinates me now more than ever. I was lucky enough to spend an entire day with him about 10 years ago. He was the coolest most down to earth guy I’ve ever met. Let me ask him anything while we drank beers in his garage. Great guy.
@@jables3377 I made a documentary and he agreed to be in it. He gave me his full attention for the entire day. We did interviews, checked out his studio, played guitar, sorted through old gear, drank beer and shot-the-shit. I thought I was dreaming, but it happened.
@donsherry9800 I saw a video where someone did a graphic analysis and pointed out just how perfect his playing was on 'I'm The One.' (I almost added that to my comment, but I wanted to keep it brief.)
@@markgarner2725 If you haven’t already, check out the isolated tracks for I’m the One here on RUclips. It’s only Ed, but you’ll start to realize that he completely dominated the track, and the drum, vocals and bass tracks only sweetened an already perfect song.
I've loved EVH ever since that day in 1978 when my older brother called me into his room and said, "Listen to this." Eruption. Then he played the whole LP. Wow! I'd love to have all the DLR albums remixed with no vocals. 'Fair Warning' would really be incredible in this format.
Besides listening to exactly what Ed in playin is fuckin awesome! But I kinda like tryin to sing along, and it’s been so long I forget lyrics, and I always sang along to my tunes growing up but I’m old as the hills now so I got an excuse!🥴😂🤣 🤘🏼 ✌🏼
VH was one of my favorite 1980's American rock group. I went to three concerts in California and Texas over several years/albums back then and none of them was very good for different reasons here and there. DLR was a screwball getting too drunk or high to perform well; he was mainly a clown the times I was at the concerts. EVH was spot-on good, but DLR was screaming over the solos a lot. It was really crappy, I thought, and disrespectful to the audience as well as his own bandmate. Then I left America for many years and expanded music horizons while away. Now I'm back stateside, and after listening to these isolated tracks, I completely understand why I was fascinated with this band as a youngster. It's clear to me again that EVH was the best rock guitarist then and probably still is. Excellent songwriter. I thought I read somewhere that it's possible to buy these isolated tracks online. Can someone let me know how I can do that? I'd like the isolated tracks from the DLR days pre-Hagar, please.
Also playing like a pimp through a totally unforgiving sound. You sound like shit through that amp if you cant play well. It blasts who you are as a player. There are plenty of wonderful players today that have cool tones. But eddies was his hands. 1 of a kind

How were you able to do that?

@@joeytosi Awesome! Is the documentary on RUclips? I'd love to see it.
@@jables3377 it used to be. You may be able to find it somewhere. It’s called “Cry Baby: the pedal that rocked the world.”
@@joeytosi I found it! Were you involved with all the interviews or just Eddie?
He was a complete guitarist. So many focus on solos and tapping but he did everything well. This is amazing.
I'm primarily a rhythm guy, and I thought Edward was a phenomenal rhythm guitarist.
Pound Cake comes to mind.
@@markgarner2725Please don’t forget “I’m The One” Ed’s shuffle feel… often imitated, rarely duplicated.

ALWAYS loved this song!

This, Romeo Delight and Take your Whiskey Home are my faves from WACF. 🥃🍻
One of their best but least known songs. Nobody played like this in 1980….except EVH.
🤙🏻😎
It still gives me goosebumps 🤘
It's funny people say Eddie was all tricks and he had no feeling. Lol. Nobody could touch his groove and intensity. This solo is exactly how he felt
So damn well crafted...his tone is pure his touch, damn master tune smith... really
Totally blown away by his genius
That rhythm playing after the solo. Oh, my!
And Growth too :D
This is awesome!
Long live the king EVH

Eddie has a lot to thank Templeman for that’s for sure
Fucking GOAT
