Yeah! I saw that. Also, did you notice in Hero's Rising, he spoke to deku in a regular tone of voice when they were alone. However, that's not the first time he's done that. ALSO! The orange belt deku is wearing is the same belt Bakugou is wearing in the entrance exam. Not sure if that is relevant, but I noticed it.
I always wondered if Horikoshi was going to come back and address Bakugo's bullying or just move on like most other anime. I'm SOOOOO glad he did! Bakugo deserves this kind of development and Midoriya deserves an apology.

I'm excited to see how this new character growth evolves. I am kinda disappointed that bakugo's treatment of Izuku didn't leave many visible scars on Izuku, or at least on their relationship thus far. It obviously affected Izuku, but not to the degree I would've liked. Izuku seems like a forgiving and kind person, but even he can feel upset when wronged.

Bakugo has just earned my respect for the first time in a long time in MHA, Midoriya and Bakugo have come a long way, they are going to be going through some massive impactful hardships along the way, the fact that Bakugo just completely admitted that he treated Midoriya dirty, and that he is trying to make amends and facing his innner Demons, is remarkable, and acknowledging.
Actions speak far louder than words. Bakugo hasn’t officially “apologized” to Midoriya but his actions, attitude and demeanor have done a complete 180. His gruff words and temperament may be the same, but the meaning behind them have changed completely. An apology may be forthcoming, but somehow I doubt that Midoriya is sitting around, waiting for an apology so he can forgive Bakugo “properly”. The literal definition of repentance is a change of mind/direction/actions. It’s an action. It’s what one does. Bakugo may not have “apologized” but he has shown deep and meaningful repentance for his past actions and mindset. It’s a genuine repentance that Midoriya has recognized and accepted with great joy.
I totally agree! I also feel that the moment he apologizes will be an awkward one, because of how Izuku might respond and a few other factors. 1. I think Izuku has already noticed Bakugo's gradual change of heart, and thus has already forgiven him. He'd probably say something along the lines of "you don't need to apologize, I've already forgiven you" or something. 2. Izuku doesn't seem to harbor and resentment, or grudge towards Bakugo, so it'll only be a oneway emotional exchange (most likely), which means after Bakugo unloads his feelings/apology, Izuku might not have much to say that isn't already obvious. 3. Obviously, Bakugo isn't used to apologizing to people, and especially towards Izuku, so it might end up with him feeling awkward after during the apology. That might make the scene worse, or better who knows. I think it'll be a great moment to watch, but I do think that if Izuku did end up harboring a little resentment or anger towards Bakugo, it'd be a more emotional scene, and would allow both of them to get what they're feeling off their chests. It'd also add a bit more depth to Izuku, but adding a sudden emotional burden to him that wasn't very present, at least to the audience, beforehand might come across as bad writing so Idek. Either way, im all for it!
It doesn't mean that he is now non liable for an Apology though. Him saying it upfront is the Last step of Admitting his wrong doing. Him not saying it means he still have hints of denial. Fear, of admitting he was wrong. Fear of facing the weight of the judgement of his wrong doing. Him not saying it is still shows that he still holds his pride and stubbornness of highest value. So unless he ACTUALLY do it. He will never go completely clean.
I don’t agree with saying ‘his gruff words and temperament may be the same’. Ever since the big fight between the guys, Bakugou’s gone from a lvl 50 pissed off at everything, to like lvl 23 still got issues but much more quiet. (If that makes any sense at all) I think he really hated himself each and every time he picked on and shoved Izuku around. I remember he didn’t seem really chipper back in the alleyway during the first episode (or was it the second? I forgot that.) he looked really down, and then got worse when he heard of the shit his so called ‘friends’ wanted to get up to (they wanted to use him to mug people) I think Bakugou never really thought highly of himself. I think when he was yelling “I’m better than you!” He was also thinking inside “So why am I acting like such a lowlife?” And over all those years of bullying Izuku, he might as well have been cutting himself each and every time, each and every time it stacks up higher and higher and hurts worse and worse, to the point where BNHA school season starts (the boiling point being burning Izuku’s beloved hero journal, then Izuku saving him, regardless of the pain he caused him.) he acts immediately a ton different than the Bakugou who was just in middle school. The Bakugou who was in middle school was snarky, charismatic, and clever. The start of U.A, he’s snapping and screaming at every single person, and glaring at Izuku double time. There almost isn’t a moment in the first two seasons where if Bakugou speaks, he isn’t screaming off in someone’s face. I think, added to the guilt he felt about All Night’s forced retirement, what he really felt was guilty for abusing his power and being a thug, which was the exact opposite of what he wanted to be in his life. Heroes may be a different term in BNHA, but the idea of them isn’t. I think Bakugou poisoned his soul every time he abused his power and hurt someone as kid, but now that he’s finally expressed his pain and has started to make amends for his misdeeds, he’s starting to heal, and with that, become a much different person than he was originally at the start of the series. Who knows? We might even see a laughing Bakugou, genuinely having fun with his peers in the coming issues (so long as everyone survives the ‘current issue’ lol😅) Sorry for the rant, just had a lot to say on the issue.
And people say that Bakugou doesn't have any character development..it's insulting how blind fans can be. Horikoshi did an excellent job, no wonder Katsuki is the favorite character of many- including myself! edit: Decide to expand upon this comment. I’m gonna be honest, I didn’t like Bakugou at all at the start. I thought he was rude and way too loud, like most antis do now. My opinion changed over time, of course, and now I adore him. The way Horikoshi developed him is flawless.
Most people just didn’t like him at the start like me,I started liking him at a bit of the sports fest and lot more in season three,which did a good job with him
Yeah like it started showing more of his character development when he got to be the drummer for the school festival. It went from, "I'M GONNA KILL UA!" To "WE'RE GOING TO KILL UA WITH OUR SOUND!" It just kinda showed his acceptance of working together with his class. He used to be hating on doing teamwork, which it's obvious when he and Iida supposed to be working together in the hero training and the time where the class 1a taking the provisional license exam, he was yelling at Kaminari and Kirishima to leave him alone
I don't know. His anger is more of a comic-relief, using it in serious situations makes him come out as a jerk. He can at least try to be angry at the right time, instead of being violent all the time. He won't become a hero with anger issues

When appearing in the interview. Bakugo isn't stupid to act like immature violent brat on screen just for comic relief and then seem ignorant to why they cut his part. And his hero name? Jeanist told him his name should reflect what he wants to become. Why would he still include "murder" in his name though? Is that what he wants to reflect? No, it's not. It's just the author again sacrificing his development for the sake of humor.
All Might needs to figure out how to explain this to the world. Regardless on how the War Arc will end, people won’t be able to look past Deku, the first year from UA who went toe to toe with Shigaraki.

I agree, I had a hard time ever warming up to Bakugou because I was always aware he relentlessly bullied someone. Even when we first meet him, he literally tells Deku to kill himself (something about jumping off the school building so he can get a quirk in his next life). Deku himself has been frightful of Bakugou and even said that he actually hates him which makes sense. Anime tends to have protagonists always trying to be friends with people who mistreat them because "they're so good and forgiving" but Deku always propped up Bakugou as a rival and someone he wanted to prove wrong. I feel like a lot of people didn't catch that which I don't blame because they're relationship was written sort of flimsy. I'm glad we actually see Bakugou look back at who he used to be and is working on himself, I think that's great! I do wish we got to see this reflection throughout the manga though since hearing this now does feel a bit sudden. It's not a surprise since the two have been getting along better but it really just looked like out of circumstance rather than Bakugou going out of his way to right his wrongs.

That really makes me remember of a video of the youtuber Oceaniz about Bakugo, ''Crushed by expectation''. He explains about how people aroud him just made him see only his quirk as something good, but not for the person he is on the inside. And how someone powerless like Deku trying his best despite of not having one hurt his distorted point of view and threatened his so-called position in society. Its so good to see how this was actually true. He was just feeling taunted and threatened by Deku, by his sheer determination clashing with how people made him see the world. Now that he is starting to mature and develop, i'm pretty sure they will come around and be good friends, in their onw rival-ish way.
Bakugo feels like the most real character. He just... his presence... he just has a weight in his whole being among all the other characters what no one else has in this anime.

Bakugo is one of my favourite characters, and his character development also reminds me of myself growing up, lashing out at people but gradually addressing my problems/feelings
I mean Bakugo has been growing since Season 1. People just have been ignoring it because he was a bully. That’s when you have to separate your real life experiences from fiction so you can appreciate all of the character’s growth. I enjoyed watching him go from bully to softie in 4 seasons. This was bound to happen eventually. Actually coming out and saying sorry? No idc about that. His actions are what matters and he’s proven so far how different he is and I’m here for it

This chapter was exactly what I was hoping for Bakugou. I never liked him when I started following the series, but he started to grow on me after All Might fought All For One. I really can't wait to see what happens with his character during this arc and afterwards.
Tevon Miller yes it is, there are more ways of saying sorry than just saying it, to bakugo actions speaks louder than words and i agree with that, but i agree that he needs to say sorry to deku, but in the future
@@kevinkonneh9640 I mean in Endeavor's case, the man can say sorry a million times and it really won't cut it. Too much pain and damage for it to be boiled down to just words. Actions are the key here.
I love the character growth we see here with Bakugo, and his acceptance of Deku and how he appears to finally respect (and worries about) how Deku always selfishly fights for the lives of those he cares about. I've never liked Bakugo because of his attitude for the majority of the manga, but he's finally gained my admiration. I love it. It makes me continue to love this story because of how incredible the character development is.
Isaac Diogenes why would Bakugou suffer the most when they have no personal relationship. Their relationship centers around Deku and Deku only. There’s nothing there for them individually so why would Bakugou suffer the more when All Might isn’t his mentor

Bakugo was never really one to explicitly say what he feels towards someone or something, but after seeing some development here with him talking with toshinori about izuku, and also counting that bakugo admires toshinori as all might (probably toshinori as a person too), makes me think of this possibility that bakugo will be closer to toshi in the future. It might happen, it might not

Bakugo is honestly such a well written character. Couldn't stand him for a while bc he had such an abusive, wild, personality but after the arc where he was captured by the league I started to respect him a little more. After his fist fight with Deku I REALLY liked Bakugo, and now, even more. He's really growing- all of the characters are, and I just enjoy that a lot haha
I'm super glad that Bakugo is getting this type of character development. Much like you, I could not get behind him as a character or even forgive him as someone who bullied Deku. Especially as someone who was often bullied from kindergarten until I graduated high school. But seeing this type of character development has actually gotten me to like him as a character. I look forward to future development between him and Deku.
After Ch. 284, I think I've finally figured out why Izuku never gave up on Bakugo despite everything. If you think about it, they are pretty much brothers in all but blood. It takes a lot to give up on family. I'm really happy to see Bakugo finally admit his own faults out loud and call them out directly. This chapter was mind-blowing for me. After the 2nd Deku vs Kacchan fight, I slowly and reluctantly grew to like Bakugo more and more. I felt conflicted, and I couldn't articulate why I wanted to see him improve. But I get it now. I wanted them to reconcile. Say what you want, but their relationship reminds me of my own with my big brother. We used to be pretty toxic with each other, but years later we've grown very close. I'd say he probably understands me the most out of my entire family, in a lot of ways. Izuku and Katsuki are like that. I'm glad this is happening. Ch. 284 also gave a glimpse at where Izuku's character growth is headed. We already knew he was reckless, but it didn't seem like that was going to be directly focused on any time soon. Most of his development's been in learning to use his powers and gaining confidence in his own capabilities, but his ideals haven't truly been challenged directly until now. He needs to learn to not disregard himself - he deserves to be saved just as much as everyone else. He has to stop trying to be some perfect hero who provides comfort but doesn't need/deserve any comfort of their own. He has the right to be human too.
Yes, I also feel they are kind of like family because they grew up together. You know, I can speak from experience. I, too, have a childhood friend and while we drifted apart at some point (junior high, to be precise), it didn't erase the memories we'd made together. Just being more or less in each other's vicinity for a long time was enough that we eventually gravitated back towards each other. Now as adults, we only keep in touch from time to time and to be fair we never managed to become as close as we were as kids, but there's a sort of ease that comes from knowing each other for so long since we were little. Katsuki and Izuku are similar in a way, though if anything, I believe their friendship is only going to grow stronger as they're becoming heroes together (I mean, they're working towards a common goal and at least for now aren't planning on moving out far away from each other so growing apart again is very unlikely, right?).
Bakugo’s character development arch reminds me of Zuko’s in ATLA. To me it’s the internal conflict when reflecting on their pasts, recognizing that what happened in their past wasn’t okay, and then slowly making a change with themselves trying to be better that before or make a greater more positive impact.
Well sort of....I much preferred if it was verbal but it’s good enough bakugo has acknowledged that he was a douche to Deku in the past and is atoning by helping to train him.
I'm actually not surprised. He only hated Deku because Deku is everything he is not. Completely selfless even without a quirk. He realised that a long time ago, since they were kids, hence him always demanding that Deku stop acting like he was better than him. Bullies mostly bully because they're insecure within themselves.
Bakugo is a really great person, others just haven’t really given him enough credit. He knew he was weak. He knew that he had to become stronger. But as a child he didn’t want to admit it. He was hanging out with a lot of quirk users who saw him as a badass leader. If he had taken on Deku into his little click, he would be seen as weak and possibly have been bullied instead. So he most likely in that situation was like, kill or be killed. Survive school and be cool as long as I can cause once I get into UA. Everyone will be smart and strong. But he realized that being mean to a boy who looked up to him and respected him more than anyone in that school, he was pushing him away. He does care about Deku. Just not the best at communicating and showing it

I was the same. Bakugo was intolerable until S3. He's still a bastard but he has layers and ideals. Now though, in th manga and in future season 6 of the anime, he's finally earned his redemption and it's pretty cool.
I definitely feel the same about the change in bakugo... I was always waiting for the moment when he would become a better character. It was so worth it! Am glad at this moment, after finishing the current manga series.
I wouldn’t say the shift in character for Bakugō started when all might retired. It was clearly before that. You started to see the first bits of it after that first training exercise when he saw todoroki and how powerful he was. He started seeing that while he was talented in using his quirk he was far from the best. Then with each event that challenged him he questioned his abilities more and more. Especially when he went up against todoroki at the sports fest. That’s why he wanted todoroki to use his full power. He needed to prove to himself again that he was the strongest and when todoroki lost to him when not using his full quirk it was another hit to his pride, as well as putting a lot of fear in him because you can hear it in his voice and see it in his actions that he thinks he seriously injured or killed todoroki when using his howitzer impact. His growth as been slow in coming when you look at the seasons but if you look at the time frame Bakugō actually grew and changed pretty quickly.

This is amazing and all but i really wanna see some sort of backstory as of to why bakugo is so angry, because yea his mum is a carbon copy of him.....but _to an extent._ She knows when to be calm and stuff but bakugo just has this type of aura around him and normally that aura comes from something in the past that happened. I feel that Horikoshi didn’t touch on that enough and kinda just said “well he’s angry cuz he’s angry” and moved on. I would love to see a deeper meaning to it but i’m sooo glad he even made BNHA so i’m here for whatever he has to offer!
Bakugou apologising to Deku is a scene i'm needing, Bakugou isn't really the type of person who will say sorry. But his character development is the best but still needs improvement
I didn’t like Bakugou in most of season 1 and I thought that I would never would but now I absolutely love Bakugou, he developed into such a great character. And what really ignores me are some people saying that he didn’t have any development because he’s still ‘mean’ to people. It’s ok to not like a character but it’s just stupid and petty to ignore their development. Bakugou getting character doesn’t mean changing his whole entire character and sudden being so kind and sweet to everyone. That’s not how it works.
@@kaiya2689 Yeah, me neither. I remember feeling bad for Izuku, but those first episodes were definitely too early for me to form a feeling as strong as hatred (or love) for any of the characters. And then I just started liking Katsuki more and more the more I learned about him, so... I never quite got a chance to hate him xD
Hmm.. well, I think definitely once the fight with Deku and Shigaraki is over. They can’t really know then because it’s probably going to end up with more villains going against the heroes, but I think either when Deku manifests his 4th quirk or soon after the current fight.
I loved seeing Bakugous character development, but I was always thinking about how much of a horrible person he was, tormenting Deku, bulling him, the swan dive comment... etc..... so not only am I glad about his development, but now we can see that he recognises what he did was wrong and is now trying to help out wherever he can, in his way of saying sorry.
I agree that Bakugo was horrible but, Deku is at fault for some stuff too. I don’t understand why people are so bent out of shape about that “swan dive” line, especially if they have seen other shōnen anime before. And, isn’t that something you would expect a bully to say? Obviously, he didn’t mean it literally. I don’t know, maybe it’s because bullying is a more realistic than murdering people and being in a family of assassins. Abuse and bullying are never forgotten about by people who watch shows, despite them not knowing the bully’s situation, and won’t except that characters like Bakugo are redeemable. The same people also adore characters like Killua, ignoring that he’s murdered a bunch of people, even if he was manipulated into doing it.
I like Bakugo so much more now... I’m happy his past bullying was addressed. I thought the writers were just going to let that abuse ride as just part of his “tenacious personality.” I like Bakugo, but the way he used to treat Deku made me mad uncomfortable. Glad to see they were setting him up for this development instead of keeping him so flat
In the translated version that I have read (not sure if you've also been told of this or not) In Bakugo's talk with All Might, Bakugo specifically is talking about the past holders. Saying that the 4th holder's quirk is scibbled out. Yet the 5th 6th and 7th holders were willing to give theirs. I'm not sure if this translation was meant to imply that the previous holders passed down this notebook or if they just some things wrong. Doesn't mention anything about the details on their deaths. Just mentions the quirks.

Katsuki and Izuku seriously could make awesome friends one day, hopefully soon. Like All Might says, with mutual respect and trust in one another, they would be unstoppable. Izuku has got the whole respect-and-trust-for-Katsuki thing down. The good news is that Katsuki is getting a hang of it too, and he's even expressing worry about him and getting ready to apologize for how he treated Izuku in the past. This is some major character development, especially for Katsuki. Also, on a less serious note, R.I.P. Izuku's hair.

Bakugo has just earned my respect for the first time in a long time in MHA, Midoriya and Bakugo have come a long way, they are going to be going through some massive impactful hardships along the way, the fact that Bakugo just completely admitted that he treated Midoriya dirty, and that he is trying to make amends and facing his innner Demons, is remarkable, and acknowledging.
So does that mean Endeavor has your respect too? Just wondering.

Actions speak far louder than words. Bakugo hasn’t officially “apologized” to Midoriya but his actions, attitude and demeanor have done a complete 180. His gruff words and temperament may be the same, but the meaning behind them have changed completely.
An apology may be forthcoming, but somehow I doubt that Midoriya is sitting around, waiting for an apology so he can forgive Bakugo “properly”.
The literal definition of repentance is a change of mind/direction/actions. It’s an action. It’s what one does. Bakugo may not have “apologized” but he has shown deep and meaningful repentance for his past actions and mindset. It’s a genuine repentance that Midoriya has recognized and accepted with great joy.

I totally agree! I also feel that the moment he apologizes will be an awkward one, because of how Izuku might respond and a few other factors.
1. I think Izuku has already noticed Bakugo's gradual change of heart, and thus has already forgiven him. He'd probably say something along the lines of "you don't need to apologize, I've already forgiven you" or something.
2. Izuku doesn't seem to harbor and resentment, or grudge towards Bakugo, so it'll only be a oneway emotional exchange (most likely), which means after Bakugo unloads his feelings/apology, Izuku might not have much to say that isn't already obvious.
3. Obviously, Bakugo isn't used to apologizing to people, and especially towards Izuku, so it might end up with him feeling awkward after during the apology. That might make the scene worse, or better who knows.
I think it'll be a great moment to watch, but I do think that if Izuku did end up harboring a little resentment or anger towards Bakugo, it'd be a more emotional scene, and would allow both of them to get what they're feeling off their chests. It'd also add a bit more depth to Izuku, but adding a sudden emotional burden to him that wasn't very present, at least to the audience, beforehand might come across as bad writing so Idek. Either way, im all for it!
It doesn't mean that he is now non liable for an Apology though. Him saying it upfront is the Last step of Admitting his wrong doing. Him not saying it means he still have hints of denial. Fear, of admitting he was wrong. Fear of facing the weight of the judgement of his wrong doing. Him not saying it is still shows that he still holds his pride and stubbornness of highest value. So unless he ACTUALLY do it. He will never go completely clean.

Ever since the big fight between the guys, Bakugou’s gone from a lvl 50 pissed off at everything, to like lvl 23 still got issues but much more quiet. (If that makes any sense at all)
I think he really hated himself each and every time he picked on and shoved Izuku around. I remember he didn’t seem really chipper back in the alleyway during the first episode (or was it the second? I forgot that.) he looked really down, and then got worse when he heard of the shit his so called ‘friends’ wanted to get up to (they wanted to use him to mug people)
I think Bakugou never really thought highly of himself. I think when he was yelling “I’m better than you!” He was also thinking inside “So why am I acting like such a lowlife?” And over all those years of bullying Izuku, he might as well have been cutting himself each and every time, each and every time it stacks up higher and higher and hurts worse and worse, to the point where BNHA school season starts (the boiling point being burning Izuku’s beloved hero journal, then Izuku saving him, regardless of the pain he caused him.) he acts immediately a ton different than the Bakugou who was just in middle school.
The Bakugou who was in middle school was snarky, charismatic, and clever. The start of U.A, he’s snapping and screaming at every single person, and glaring at Izuku double time. There almost isn’t a moment in the first two seasons where if Bakugou speaks, he isn’t screaming off in someone’s face.
I think, added to the guilt he felt about All Night’s forced retirement, what he really felt was guilty for abusing his power and being a thug, which was the exact opposite of what he wanted to be in his life. Heroes may be a different term in BNHA, but the idea of them isn’t.
I think Bakugou poisoned his soul every time he abused his power and hurt someone as kid, but now that he’s finally expressed his pain and has started to make amends for his misdeeds, he’s starting to heal, and with that, become a much different person than he was originally at the start of the series.
Who knows? We might even see a laughing Bakugou, genuinely having fun with his peers in the coming issues (so long as everyone survives the ‘current issue’ lol😅)

And people say that Bakugou doesn't have any character development..it's insulting how blind fans can be. Horikoshi did an excellent job, no wonder Katsuki is the favorite character of many- including myself!
edit: Decide to expand upon this comment. I’m gonna be honest, I didn’t like Bakugou at all at the start. I thought he was rude and way too loud, like most antis do now. My opinion changed over time, of course, and now I adore him. The way Horikoshi developed him is flawless.

I agree, I had a hard time ever warming up to Bakugou because I was always aware he relentlessly bullied someone. Even when we first meet him, he literally tells Deku to kill himself (something about jumping off the school building so he can get a quirk in his next life). Deku himself has been frightful of Bakugou and even said that he actually hates him which makes sense. Anime tends to have protagonists always trying to be friends with people who mistreat them because "they're so good and forgiving" but Deku always propped up Bakugou as a rival and someone he wanted to prove wrong. I feel like a lot of people didn't catch that which I don't blame because they're relationship was written sort of flimsy.
I'm glad we actually see Bakugou look back at who he used to be and is working on himself, I think that's great! I do wish we got to see this reflection throughout the manga though since hearing this now does feel a bit sudden. It's not a surprise since the two have been getting along better but it really just looked like out of circumstance rather than Bakugou going out of his way to right his wrongs.

That really makes me remember of a video of the youtuber Oceaniz about Bakugo, ''Crushed by expectation''. He explains about how people aroud him just made him see only his quirk as something good, but not for the person he is on the inside. And how someone powerless like Deku trying his best despite of not having one hurt his distorted point of view and threatened his so-called position in society.
Its so good to see how this was actually true. He was just feeling taunted and threatened by Deku, by his sheer determination clashing with how people made him see the world. Now that he is starting to mature and develop, i'm pretty sure they will come around and be good friends, in their onw rival-ish way.
With all this development for Bakugou...something bad is bound to happen to him.

Bakugo is one of my favourite characters, and his character development also reminds me of myself growing up, lashing out at people but gradually addressing my problems/feelings
I mean Bakugo has been growing since Season 1. People just have been ignoring it because he was a bully. That’s when you have to separate your real life experiences from fiction so you can appreciate all of the character’s growth. I enjoyed watching him go from bully to softie in 4 seasons. This was bound to happen eventually.

This chapter was exactly what I was hoping for Bakugou. I never liked him when I started following the series, but he started to grow on me after All Might fought All For One. I really can't wait to see what happens with his character during this arc and afterwards.

I love the character growth we see here with Bakugo, and his acceptance of Deku and how he appears to finally respect (and worries about) how Deku always selfishly fights for the lives of those he cares about. I've never liked Bakugo because of his attitude for the majority of the manga, but he's finally gained my admiration. I love it. It makes me continue to love this story because of how incredible the character development is.
Bakugo still to this day is my favorite character due to his development. And this just adds to it.

I'm super glad that Bakugo is getting this type of character development. Much like you, I could not get behind him as a character or even forgive him as someone who bullied Deku. Especially as someone who was often bullied from kindergarten until I graduated high school. But seeing this type of character development has actually gotten me to like him as a character. After Ch. 284, I think I've finally figured out why Izuku never gave up on Bakugo despite everything. If you think about it, they are pretty much brothers in all but blood. It takes a lot to give up on family.
I'm really happy to see Bakugo finally admit his own faults out loud and call them out directly. This chapter was mind-blowing for me. After the 2nd Deku vs Kacchan fight, I slowly and reluctantly grew to like Bakugo more and more. I felt conflicted, and I couldn't articulate why I wanted to see him improve.
But I get it now. I wanted them to reconcile. Say what you want, but their relationship reminds me of my own with my big brother. We used to be pretty toxic with each other, but years later we've grown very close. I'd say he probably understands me the most out of my entire family, in a lot of ways. Izuku and Katsuki are like that. I'm glad this is happening.
Ch. 284 also gave a glimpse at where Izuku's character growth is headed. We already knew he was reckless, but it didn't seem like that was going to be directly focused on any time soon. Most of his development's been in learning to use his powers and gaining confidence in his own capabilities, but his ideals haven't truly been challenged directly until now. He needs to learn to not disregard himself - he deserves to be saved just as much as everyone else. He has to stop trying to be some perfect hero who provides comfort but doesn't need/deserve any comfort of their own. He has the right to be human too.
Yes, I also feel they are kind of like family because they grew up together. You know, I can speak from experience. I, too, have a childhood friend and while we drifted apart at some point (junior high, to be precise), it didn't erase the memories we'd made together. Just being more or less in each other's vicinity for a long time was enough that we eventually gravitated back towards each other. Now as adults, we only keep in touch from time to time and to be fair we never managed to become as close as we were as kids, but there's a sort of ease that comes from knowing each other for so long since we were little. Katsuki and Izuku are similar in a way, though if anything, I believe their friendship is only going to grow stronger as they're becoming heroes together (I mean, they're working towards a common goal and at least for now aren't planning on moving out far away from each other so growing apart again is very unlikely, right?).
Bakugo’s character development arch reminds me of Zuko’s in ATLA. To me it’s the internal conflict when reflecting on their pasts, recognizing that what happened in their past wasn’t okay, and then slowly making a change with themselves trying to be better that before or make a greater more positive impact.
Deku has the same intensity that Mirko had earlier in the arc. Even some of the same poses

Bakugo is a really great person, others just haven’t really given him enough credit. He knew he was weak. He knew that he had to become stronger. But as a child he didn’t want to admit it. He was hanging out with a lot of quirk users who saw him as a badass leader. If he had taken on Deku into his little click, he would be seen as weak and possibly have been bullied instead. So he most likely in that situation was like, kill or be killed. Survive school and be cool as long as I can cause once I get into UA. Everyone will be smart and strong. But he realized that being mean to a boy who looked up to him and respected him more than anyone in that school, he was pushing him away. He does care about Deku. Just not the best at communicating and showing it

I was the same. Bakugo was intolerable until S3. He's still a bastard but he has layers and ideals. Now though, in th manga and in future season 6 of the anime, he's finally earned his redemption and it's pretty cool.

I definitely feel the same about the change in bakugo... I was always waiting for the moment when he would become a better character. It was so worth it! Am glad at this moment, after finishing the current manga series.
I wouldn’t say the shift in character for Bakugō started when all might retired. It was clearly before that. You started to see the first bits of it after that first training exercise when he saw todoroki and how powerful he was. He started seeing that while he was talented in using his quirk he was far from the best. Then with each event that challenged him he questioned his abilities more and more. Especially when he went up against todoroki at the sports fest. That’s why he wanted todoroki to use his full power. He needed to prove to himself again that he was the strongest and when todoroki lost to him when not using his full quirk it was another hit to his pride, as well as putting a lot of fear in him because you can hear it in his voice and see it in his actions that he thinks he seriously injured or killed todoroki when using his howitzer impact. His growth as been slow in coming when you look at the seasons but if you look at the time frame Bakugō actually grew and changed pretty quickly.

This is amazing and all but i really wanna see some sort of backstory as of to why bakugo is so angry, because yea his mum is a carbon copy of him.....but _to an extent._ She knows when to be calm and stuff but bakugo just has this type of aura around him and normally that aura comes from something in the past that happened. I feel that Horikoshi didn’t touch on that enough and kinda just said “well he’s angry cuz he’s angry” and moved on. I would love to see a deeper meaning to it but i’m sooo glad he even made BNHA so i’m here for whatever he has to offer!

Bakugou apologising to Deku is a scene i'm needing, Bakugou isn't really the type of person who will say sorry. But his character development is the best but still needs improvement

I didn’t like Bakugou in most of season 1 and I thought that I would never would but now I absolutely love Bakugou, he developed into such a great character. And what really ignores me are some people saying that he didn’t have any development because he’s still ‘mean’ to people. It’s ok to not like a character but it’s just stupid and petty to ignore their development. Bakugou getting character doesn’t mean changing his whole entire character and sudden being so kind and sweet to everyone. That’s not how it works.

@@kaiya2689 Yeah, me neither. I remember feeling bad for Izuku, but those first episodes were definitely too early for me to form a feeling as strong as hatred (or love) for any of the characters. And then I just started liking Katsuki more and more the more I learned about him, so... I never quite got a chance to hate him xD

Hmm.. well, I think definitely once the fight with Deku and Shigaraki is over. They can’t really know then because it’s probably going to end up with more villains going against the heroes, but I think either when Deku manifests his 4th quirk or soon after the current fight.

I loved seeing Bakugous character development, but I was always thinking about how much of a horrible person he was, tormenting Deku, bulling him, the swan dive comment... etc..... so not only am I glad about his development, but now we can see that he recognises what he did was wrong and is now trying to help out wherever he can, in his way of saying sorry.
I agree that Bakugo was horrible but, Deku is at fault for some stuff too. I don’t understand why people are so bent out of shape about that “swan dive” line, especially if they have seen other shōnen anime before. And, isn’t that something you would expect a bully to say? Obviously, he didn’t mean it literally.
I don’t know, maybe it’s because bullying is a more realistic than murdering people and being in a family of assassins. Abuse and bullying are never forgotten about by people who watch shows, despite them not knowing the bully’s situation, and won’t except that characters like Bakugo are redeemable. The same people also adore characters like Killua, ignoring that he’s murdered a bunch of people, even if he was manipulated into doing it.

I thought the writers were just going to let that abuse ride as just part of his “tenacious personality.” I like Bakugo, but the way he used to treat Deku made me mad uncomfortable. In the translated version that I have read (not sure if you've also been told of this or not) In Bakugo's talk with All Might, Bakugo specifically is talking about the past holders. Saying that the 4th holder's quirk is scibbled out. Yet the 5th 6th and 7th holders were willing to give theirs. I'm not sure if this translation was meant to imply that the previous holders passed down this notebook or if they just some things wrong. Doesn't mention anything about the details on their deaths. Just mentions the quirks.

Katsuki and Izuku seriously could make awesome friends one day, hopefully soon. Like All Might says, with mutual respect and trust in one another, they would be unstoppable. Izuku has got the whole respect-and-trust-for-Katsuki thing down. The good news is that Katsuki is getting a hang of it too, and he's even expressing worry about him and getting ready to apologize for how he treated Izuku in the past. This is some major character development, especially for Katsuki.
