    Can you turn it from the top to get the height that you want? For example I want to grow it in front of my ugly fence line so it needs to be trimmed at 6 feet

    • @TarHeelTrees

      Yes it’s no problem to keep it trimmed to whatever height you desire.

      @@robinlanter4287 Grasses are not a good choice for arizona. If you are after a hedge why not go for prickly pear? It takes longer to establish but it's easy enough to come by in your area and provides a useful product without the water requirements of grasses.

      Non invasive I guess

    • @opcn18
      @opcn18 2 года назад

      It spreads by rhizome, it's a hybrid that's both pollen sterile and seed sterile. It doesn't have the power to punch up through obstacles like bamboo does but it can be aggressive. The stalks remain fairly fine though so it can be controlled with a lawnmower. If it's kept short it or grown in the deep shade of a cover crop it will not thrive and will eventually peter out.

    Cutting it will irritate and cut the crap out of you. The seed heads of all the miscanthus have gotta be the most flammable thing in nature its an excellent natural fire starter when it turns brown in winter.

    • @sjcsystems

      Hi, I believe it is sterile - you can only propagate it by getting hold of the rhizomes. There are other similar species of Miscanthus which seed, and that might not be a good thing in a garden!!
