If I were doing a video of how to change the oil in a crampedaero, ( that's what I call my 16,2SS ) Camaro I think I would've shown at the end how to reset the oil life screen. But any my son follows your videos and likes all the cool stuff you've done so far to your ride. Keep up the good work.
I ran 15w50 all summer but I live in the desert of southern California and morning start temperatures are 70 and daytime is 107. Retained much improved oil pressure at idle and about 5 degrees cooler oil temps. Ran 5w30 from October until mid June
Thanks, I did this for the very first time! The video was highly useful considering you used two jack stands, which are at my disposal too at the moment.
When the time comes can you a do a brake pad and maybe rotors change? I think that could be a nice simple maintain/install video👌🏾. Asking since I’m installing 6 pistons on my 2016 2ss soon. Thanks
I noticed while draining the oil the car was lifted at an angle, that doesn’t allow for the oil to fully drain and would still have some of the old oil in the oil pan as its tilted away from the drain plug.
The drain plug is at the rear of the pan, the tilt would theoretically help to push all the excess oil to the rear, it's always an option to jack from all 4 corners, but I have never done that on any of my vehicles I've owned
10 qts ?! Well, the engine is a beast. At least Chevy kept it simple. Watch some vids of a Toyota oil change like a Tundra. Ridiculous. Great vid by the way. You made it look easier than scrambling eggs.😁👍
Yeah was about 110 for everything; Although if you choose to go with the 5w-30 option I have listed in the description I believe its only 60 dollars total. Thanks man!
Mac Pettit yeah currently have the 2017 Camaro V6 automatic that I bought brand new and I regret not waiting to be able to afford the V8 but I’m glad I now have the chance to get the SS 1LE so hopefully the deal goes well!
Mac Pettit oh damn that’s a really good deal! The one I’m looking at is going for $35k 14k miles but knowing I can definitely get them to lower that price is really good to know! Thank you
Hey bro I’m gonna be doing my oil change soon my 2017 Camaro SS 1LE as well and does the washer for the oil drain plug need to be replaced ? Always had a jdm car and they require it
What do you do with the old oil? I have a 2018 SS, and everyone just says to take it to the dealer so they can do it and get rid of the oil for you. Btw sick wrap!
Quick question _ how do I bring up the Oil Mileage reset on the dash on my 2019 2SS 1LE. I have a blank screen where that feature should be when scrolling.
@@macpettit2327 what jacking point? and jack stand points are you using? I had a little trouble seeing exactly in the video, but if you can give me more information, and send a picture or detailed video of that I would appreciate it! Thanks
Question, my daily is a civic and I always drop the car on all 4 wheels and a decent amount of "more" oil will flow out in that position. Do you think the Camaro would do the same? Im close to 1300 miles on the 1Le so need to do first change soon.
Noticed that you had the jack adapters on the pinch welds when lifting but no adapters on the stands? Firstly, can you link the ones you have and secondly, doesn’t that defeat the purpose of having the other ones if the pinch weld is going to sit even longer on the stands? I have a camaro too and I am still trying to figure out what I should be doing when it comes to jacking it up and putting it on stands. Thanks
usually the point of the lift adapters is so the jack doesnt slip off the pinch welds when lifting. a puck can usually do the job well enough, thats what i use. Don't necessarily need an adapter for sitting on stands, the pinch welds should be fine

@@kflosow Appreciate it man! I agree with you, wish i would have remembered! Have a lot of fun things still planned for the car
Hey guy I got 2016 Camaro ss 5w30, so this mean I call use 0w-40?

Don’t forget to fill up the oil filter before you install it,
Good luck

This is 2024 and I’m telling you thank you for everything sir…
Simple person, I see him post and I like at the start
You tha man! Really do appreciate the support, any suggestions on a video I should make next?

Great video brother! I got everything you recommended and everything went smooth with my 21 SS 1LE.

Oh okay 👍🏻 cant wait to see the car on the track 🔥
20 more days! Can’t wait!
Try the Solo cup hack for removing the oil filter, saves a ton of mess.
Really underrated channel
Really means a lot, these comments really keep me motivated to keep pushing it forward!
Quality videos everytime bro. Rly sets u apart from other car channels💡
As always thanks man! Working on a few more this weekend that I am actually really excited to show, as they are pretty uncommon mods

Thanks so much! Yeah I have been in other cars where it was a nightmare to change, they really did a great job of making it straight forward!
Can you please do a Spark plug change on a 2019 Camaro SS 🙏🏻 I would appreciate it so much!! I believe the labor for spark plug is very high!!
It doesn't gets any easier than that, that's one of the reasons to love murikan cars.
That’s for the tips. 10 qts wow that’s a nice bill.

Plz to a Spark plug change on 2019 Camaro SS 6.2L!
Pouring that Mobil 1 aka Liquid gold is money 🔥🔥
I assume it’s the same with SS1le. I have a 2014 and looking to do my own oil to save a couple bucks
I use 5w30 dexos 1 valvoline maxlife full synthetic on my 83000km 2.0
are you just putting the jack stand on the passege side pinch weld then going to the driver side and jacking up that side?
Hey man. Fellow ATLantian here. Where di you go to get your ZL1 bumper painted and about how much did it cost?
Was up North at SSR collision, was a few hundred I believe 3-500 I can't quite remember, hope this helps!
@@macpettit2327 did you do price shopping beforehand to get the best deal? And was it a headache to match the paint color?

Yo Mac what’s up brother ,awesome video love the detailed effects, great job on the detailed description.💯👍🏻
Much appreciated! Hope it helped a bit!
I rip it from time to time and I daily it what oil do you think is best for my 2019 2SS ?
Hey thanks, your video help me out a lot! It wasn't easy being my first DIY oil change, but I expect it to be much doable further on^^
Did you not prime the filter? I thought it was essential for this engine for start up?
Aren't you supposed to pre-fill the new oil filter before filling the engine?
I would
I asked the same question.
Are you still running this oil after a year and do you run it for the street too or were you preparing to go to a track later in the video?
What do you do with the old oil? I have a 2018 SS, and everyone just says to take it to the dealer so they can do it and get rid of the oil for you.
Btw sick wrap!
I always go to Autozone; they take & dispose of it for free, and thanks man!
Don't forget to reset the oil life folks
Yup good point! I’ll put that in my pinned post, thanks for reminding me!
@@macpettit2327 did you put all 10 quarts in
I drive my car hard on the backroads but I don’t go to the track I run 5w-30 since it’s a 2017 2ss would it be worth it to switch to 0w-40
Nice simple video. Excellent job man!
Wanted to make sure it was quick & to the point! Thanks brother!

When I check the dip stick with 10 quarts of oil in the car I barely see it on the dip stick 2020 2ss
Can I use the oil on a 2016 LT1
Do i need 10quarts of oul for my 2020 camaro LT aswell?
Awesome video! Thanks for sharing Mac!
Great video as always! Thanks for the informative content!
Thanks brotha!

Are those 2 ton or 3 ton jack stands
So it takes 10 quarts and not 6 quarts?
What jack stands do you use
YOU SHOULD TEST MOTUL OIL RAECING
Where can I order the ow-40 esp at I can’t find it anywhere
What’s the background song in your awesome video
Does this count for the Camaro SS as well?
It does! You'll save money using the "street" oil tho, so it depends on what kind of driving you are doing!

I do the same and that’s good practice. If you take it anywhere else, the car is on the ground the whole time and drains into a pit anyway
I think you linked the wrong oil. 0w-30
Ooooof! Good catch! Updated!
Does this apply to the 19-20s as well since they share the same engine ?
Yes it does! All LT1's
What oil would you recommend for a 2015 LS??
Amsoil 😈

yeeerrrr whats up bro

Expensive; yes but it’s optimal for street and track junkies; it’s on amazon and ships quick; have it linked 👍
