    I am from Kenya,a somali Kenyan,how we cook ugali is the same the only difference is when the water boils we add salt,and towards the end we add oil,i love ugali with spinach.Good job team you did it.

    Simply amazing! ...Here in Zambia we call it Nsima, Nshima or Ubwali ...They're 72 tribes in my country so the list could be longer than this lol....My favourite couple of all time! Love you guys! 😘

    In zim some choose to put a little maize meal and cold water and then hot water half way, mix and let the maize meal boil and add little maize meal little by little 😊 then boom done... Sadzaaa yassss 🇿🇼 it took me a while to learn how to cook it

      That's exactly how we cook it in Namibia. We put the maize flour while the water is cool or luke warm and stir like it's soft porridge. When it boils nicely Then we add the rest of maize or Mahangu flour ( from some grains grown in Namibia/Angola and maybe Zambia). Then you stir nicely till it's done

    I believe ugali is Posho for us Ugandans and the first tip is to ensure the water has boiled really well and start with really little water and if more is needed keep a hot kettle next to u

    You can always measure the flour and water...
    One cup of water goes with one cup of flour too😊, this ensures that you get the right consistency and perfect texture 😌

    The key to good ugali is adding a bit more flour.... And have extra hot water in case you need to add more afterwards. My dad says that it reduces the chances of "tuhee". Uncooked clumps of flour

    Have travelled from America (Ohio) to marry my Kenyan fiance. She has spoken of no other food than Ugali. Day 3 was Ugali night, and now I understand why!!     Kemi, for starters, my mum taught me an easy way, make porridge, let it cook on low heat for like 10minutes, then keep adding alitu floor as you mash. Then ikishakua ngumu/kushikamana🤣 funika tena and let it cook for like 5minute ukigeuza every now and then.

    The key is to add a small amount of maize in cold water before you add it to the hot water otherwise it clumps up. Then as you add it in the hot water, you stir until it thickens like porridge. You let the porridge boil, then you add more maize meal to create the pap.
    I just learned a few weeks ago how to make proper pap, sadza to be specific😅😢💃🏽 but I’m SAn 🇿🇦.

    In South Africa its called Pap. And in order for it to have taste you add salt. But the morden way some people even add parsley margarine and cheese. Its made with Maize meal and not flour

    Nooo, try this put some motu in the cold water, stir slowly as u wait for it to boil, when it starts boiling leave it for some time, then start adding motu slowly as u turn the gima. Don't make it too thick. Then keep turning till the motu is kuiguwana. When it stops being sticky, it's ready.

    Another tip is instead of boiling water twice, boil more than you need then when the water starts boiling reduce and keep the excess aside just incase you need to add

      We mix maize meal with mahangu flour and we call it oshifima or just pap. In Namibia

    Tip for you Kimmy at the start.. if you mix the raw maize meal in a bowl with a bit of water then put it in the boiling water. It stops the intial bumpy texture

    If you want to cook some very nice ugali...You got to make sure you are only adding very small flour little by little like the way you do with uji . That means you'll never need to boil extra water in case it gets hard. And Kimmy did exactly that ....Excellent.
