Yeah! How cool is it! They used to date too actually. He/The Neptunes did about 4 songs with Kelis on her "Tastey" album. And possibly some other songs too. Gwen Staffani I think he just did a couple.
I forgot that Pharrell is a full-time producer, and isn't just kept in cryostasis so that Illumination can wake him up whenever they need the soundtrack for a new Despicable Me movie.
@@yes.iammitsuri5025 it's the 2 hard bass hitting kicks on the beginning of the song most of the time when the song starts it's this niggas signature 😂
i’ve always loved pharrell. he is my favorite. his music is amazing and he is a musical genius. i love him sm. and i love him in Sing 2. he did amazing. just a cloud away WAS my favorite song until it became a trend cuz now it’s overplayed and ppl think i jus started listening to it when i have for years. anywayssss💀💀💀💀
LMAOOOO as I'm watching this, I'm literally listening to "In Your Eyes" by Snoh Aalegra, and ironically enough, it's produced by Pharrell (The Neptunes as a whole), and Snoh's song sure enough includes a 4-count at the beginning.
I think I slightly disagree about the last jedi thing to some extent. Whilst there was a huge cultural shift surrounding the rise of "WOKE writers ruin [insert piece of media here]" particularly connected to the GamerGate nonsense at the time, this strain of the internet alt right was bubbling away since about 2013. It was going to happen with some movie, it just happenedt o fall on that film. The Last Jedi isn't why those channels exist, they were an offshoot of an existing political movement that used that film as a springboard, when any major media property with a female protagonist or a black protagonist would have done.
I don't know if anyone noticed, but on Kendrick Lamar's "Mr. Morale" off his new album, the beat starts after Kendrick says "HAAH HAAH HAAH HAAH!" which was a hidden 4 count signature from Pharrell as well :o
He made the Tokyo Drift beat too which is crazy because he can vary his music style that much.
Was about to say this
wow.
Is that "Mamacita"??
Whaaaat?
@@ukokkeinakokkeihe produced tokyo drift, made mamacita too, mamacita is insanely underrated
That 4-count is simple, but very effective. It makes it even better that it can still easily be interchangeable with the vibe of a song.

Never knew he did some of the most iconic songs of all time
Frontin and Drop it like it's hot 4 notes will always slap.
Pharrell is an amazing producer and artist and I've always noticed this as his little producer tag. Nice!
Just realized this when I was listening to neon guts lol
THAT IS SO COOL
FRONTIN' IS A PERSONAL FAVE ALL THE WAY 💖💖💖💖🤤
One thing I noticed is he didn't do it in Hug Me.
I NEVER KNEW ALRIGHT WAS PRODUCED BY PHARRELL
im earlyyyyy can i get a pin?
It’s crazy that he used the four count in just a cloud away when that song’s in three.
It’s not in any of the songs that he’s written from R.A.M
Tokyo drift is my favorite hes done and nobody knows its him
how does he go from hollaback girl to blurred lines to happy????? And how are they ALL bangers?!
Even Double Life from Despicable Me 4 has it
It might seem crazy what I’m bout to say
The 4 count of snoop dog reminds me I’ve the beginning of a Vsauce video
I had no idea Alright was produced by Pharrell, it doesn't sound as much as the others he produced
Am I deaf? I swear I just heard a 3 count for blurred lines
doctor by Pharrell Williams and miley cyrus has left the chat
It's a really effective tool but also seems like a professional tick.
No way this man made milkshake and holler back girl
Dont forget "I GOT I GOT I GOT I GOT"
Neptunes* somebody please give chad his flowers
Some Tyler songs I listen to I say “this is made by Pharrell!” But then Tyler produces all his songs 💀
it probably helps that Tyler has worked closely with and is hugely inspired by Pharrell
the fact that it literally makes the song better too... pharrell stay praised 🔥
Most of Tyler’s “Wolf” does the same thing and Pharrell was a big inspiration for him. I didn’t even about how Pharrell did that.
4 beat start is just super common, Pharrell most likely started doing it for DJs and to help people get a feel for the speed of the beat immediately
He also did it in Gust of Wind with Daft Punk.
Better than hearing ‘WE THE BEST!!!’
"hey! Vsauce micheal here."

i actually didn’t know pharrell produced alright - it doesn’t sound like his work
Why is it like this though
Its honestly brilliant. It's not as in-your-face like "🗣📣DJ KHALED!". It's more subte and humble-like and goes well with every song.
I think blurred lines is a 3 count
There’s a snap that’s harder to hear
Because….. That’s His Fucking Producer Tag
And the versatility of the songs too. From rock to pop to some love songs and more!
the fact that he goes through all music styles, for example from Happy to Alright, man's a genius
greatest producer oat
I genuinely thought that Britney spears’ gimme more was a Pharrell Williams song because of the 4 beat at the beginning but apparently not.
On Double Life it is the cowbell in the background
I think this is true when it’s solely a Neptunes production *perhaps* (including Chad) cause there are some beats only P is credited on that don’t 🤔
Most of Ariana’s “Sweetener” album too, I just realised😮
Me seeing that "Safari" didn't appear:*gives him incredible anxiety*
Blurred Lines is technically three beats unless I'm miscounting?
ARE WE STILL FRIENDS?
no, Tyler produced are we still friends.
Kanye West's Homecoming also has a 4-count.
One of my fav Kanye songs
@@valorwavez definitely in my top 5
it isn't produced by Pharrell though, 4 count is just a common way to start a song (it also helps out DJs, and gives you a quick feel for the tempo)
