Just came up with a McGyver solution! I took two 1/4" strips of craft plastic (you could use acetate or even card stock) and roughened up about 1" of one end of one piece with sandpaper (not sure if this step is necessary, but I thought the glue would adhere better). Then I glued the strips together EXCEPT for the sanded part, which should be on the inside. After it dried, I added a drop of Aleene's Tack-it Over & Over (you could probably also use any two-way glue like Tombow Mono Multi) to the sanded part and removed most of it so there was only a thin coat. I was careful not to get it too close to any of the edges. Then I held the pieces apart with a toothpick until it dried (picture an alligator's mouth). Next time I might put the Aleene's on both sides. Just insert your paper, press closed and you're ready to weave. It worked like a charm. When it eventually loses its stickiness, I'll just add another bit of glue. It's nice and flat and you can make it any width and length your want. Thanks for the inspiration, Julie!
Thank you Julie! This is too cool, I ordered and it came quickly. The Washi Tape company has wonderful people, very great customer service! Their other products are pretty cool too.
Oh my goodness Julie. I was weaving a month ago. And I had the idea bc I fell in love with my scrapbook paper I was playing with. I was missing my Maui home. And I love baskets and I have a bunch of lauhala baskets, and thought, oh, I want to weave this. So I did and it was sooo beautiful. But, it was hard. And I’ve never seen a tutorial yet until now. I can’t wait to order this weaving tool. Love this! Thx!
I thought the same thing! But I couldn't find a bodkin thin enough to work for paper weaving or with the correct tweezer attachment so that it grabbed but didn't destroy the paper.
Wow what a great tool. Would make ribbon weaving easy also, the possibilities are endless. Already my head is spinning with ideas. It is like the tool you can use for gripping card while heat embossing but way way thinner.
I taught early elementary and had to do weaving paper. We had full inclusion and I would have loved this tool for my one or two special needs children that I had every year! What I did was use a piece of cardboard strip and glue-stuck the paper strip onto the end of the cardboard strip. The problem was soon the cardboard would bend and the stickiness would spread…..sigh…
Thanks for this video. I ordered mine from the same company but on Etsy. Paid a little less for shipping but no freebies! You made this seem like a no brainer purchase for me lol!

This would be great for weaving ribbon, paper, yarn, pretty much anything... into small spaces where a bodkin is too bulky, a needle too small. It's the Goldilocks tool!
@@BalzerDesigns Well, I got my weaving tool and OMG I agree with you 100%. This is a game changer. I am currently weaving magazine pages in 1/4 inch strips and like butter I tell you. lol Anyway, thank you so much for highlighting this incredible tool. Now to be able to pay someone to cut those strips!!!

Unfortunately, the store is not professional enough to send this product to international countries with proper records. My product never arrived. The store owner of Washi Arts is not a good communicator, so customers BEWARE.

from where?
Of course, it might also make those potholders we loomed as kids so much easier as well! Neat project.
Totally!
TFS! I was using a pick to grab and pull through, which worked 50% of the time. So excited to grab this.

I’m sitting here, trying to figure out how to “McGyver” this! It looks very much like a bodkin to me!!❤️

Nancy, check out my McGyver solution above!
new to this art.. I can see why the weaver would be helpful
Yes, very nice. Its the last slice of paper that usually is the tricky one and this tool made it so simple. Bravo!
Thank you very much!

I was just able to order this (along with some paper). It won’t ship until next month, but I’m ok with that.
Ahhhhhh! Sew much easier! It's like a bodkin for weaving ribbon through lace but way longer! Sometimes it's just worth the price to make life easier
Amen!

Yes!
Where can I find this tool.? I don’t see it on Washi Arts.
where do you get one?
how do you cut the slits?
Craft knife.
Why no link to buy this?
I believe there's a link in the description.
@@BalzerDesigns I couldn't find it there but I found the website and ordered two. Thans for the response.

It's sold out on their website! Rats.

There are a number of different tweezers (squeeze & grip type), bodkin’s &such that will do this…. A lot cheaper!😋
Really? I'd love a link. Everything I've seen is too fat to work for paper weaving or doesn't have a reverse tweezer grip.
🙂
And of course, you must have purchased the last one because they are sold out!!,

Ummmmm can I just say that by watching this in less than 2 minutes I can make one with a Barrett and a popsicle stick
Ummmmmm, I suspect a barrette would be too thick to work for paper weaving, but I hope you give it a try and let us know how it goes.
