I totally appreciate how you handle the Bible verse on the MISTI. I wish stamp manufacturers, retailers, RUclips demonstrators, and everyone else in this business would keep their religious views to themselves. I watch the videos to learn. I do not want to hear about peoples religious preferences or their proselytizing. You handled this very topic very compassionately.
Loved your video! I'm a retired teacher and creating one of a kind stuff for my classroom was my happy place. I retired early to care for my elderly parents and after their passing I didn't know what to do with all this spare time. It wasn't until this past May that I got into cardmaking. I went crazy buying stuff left and right and after these past months, I realize I have no use for some of them. From you favorite items I love my backward tweezers, the mint tape and almost gave up on my Big Shot! I've gone through 4 set of plates due to warping. Purchasing the magnetic platform, and practicing, has been a game changer. I'm missing two big ticket items, the MISTI and the glass mat. I've seen not all of them mention they're heat safe so I rather wait a bit and purchase the heat proof one. I also purchased the Sizzex Side Kick to use for those pesky, tiny dies. Also a game changer. I never thought I would enjoy cardmaking as much as I do! It's my new Happy Place!!!❤❤❤
Hi Ralph, It’s nice to see a man that understands why we may have more than one particular item in our craft room. Sometimes we just have to have an item that blends better with the cards we are making.
MISTI Stamp Platform, Tim Holtz Glass Mat, Scotch Advance Tape Glider (ATG), Art Institute Glitter Glue, TH Distress Ink Pads, Big Shot Die Cutting Platform, Versamark Embossing Ink, and my Wagner Heat gun.
I have the large Misti,. I would love to have tried the stampin up one but they discontinued it . The hinge could be moved to the top and bottom I believe , would love to have tried it. I too have the glass mat, love it! I have the same Sizzix big shot fold away . That lives on my desk. I have the cuttlebug among 3 other electronic machines. I hate to fussy cut. I too have arthritis besides trigger finger that act up as well as Dupuytren’s contracture so I have the brother scan n cut . You just put your stamped image on the mat or even designer paper that you would love to cut a picture out of it scan it in and cut it out with a border or without. It is a game changer . You can cut out shapes etc with it just like you can with the cricut . The difference being you can not do a print and cut. Instead of having every shape die imaginable you have this awesome machine. Like I said this machine is a game changer .
I've heard it called cussing cutting😂. I have all these items and too many more to count. I agree that all of these you showed are pretty essential tools for card making.
Thank you for sharing. My number 1 is my Cricut machine and my pen collection for it. My favorites are my Big Shot Switch and my 100s of embossing folders, BearlyArt glue, Elmer's Craft Bond tape runner and refills i have been buying these for years and love, love, love it , Foam squares of all sizes, all my various cardstock, and my Epson eco Tank Printer. With all these I have the ability to print, cut, write, attach and emboss.
Love Ad tech tape runners, too! No stress in reloading refills!! Love my glass mat too! Recommend nesting dies in various sizes for card makers! Great list!!
Thanks for sharing your favorites list. I used to use the Adtech runners, now I use an ATG. I love my spring loaded scissors as well. Regular scissors cramp my hand when I'm doing a lot of cutting. My die cutting machines are a must too. I even love using low tack tape with dies as well. In other words, I use pretty much all of the items you talked about. Thanks again.
I might add some kind of pokey tool to get the little bits out of die cuts. I reach for that a lot. Your cartoon corrections are so cute and funny. Keep ‘em coming!
I use the stamp platform, a glass top work table that my husband made (we own a glass company), and a Sizzix die cutting machine. I don’t like to use tape runners or spring scissors. I only use the reverse tweezers to hold small things together, as you mentioned. I would add my bent tweezers, my heat/emboss gun, Fiskars large paper trimmer, and SugarBelle bottles that I fill with my glues. I am 56 years of with RA, OA, and FMS/CFS. Some of the things that you mentioned helping you a lot actually are harder for me to use. This was a great list video, very helpful for beginners too. Thanks!
Great video Ralph and very informative. Appreciate that you listed your go to essentials for cardmaking. Hope you can share a tour of your craft room soon. Thank you and looking forward on your next video. 😊
I use both tape runner (ATG) and liquid glue (Bearly Arts or Scotch Quick glue). They have different purposes depending on your project. Glue is permanent and sometimes adjustments are necessary, especially in scrapbooking.
I can’t live without a stamping platform, guillotine paper cutter, Spellbinders die cutter, embossing folders, cutting dies, wet/dry glue, glass cutting mat, paper pick, Crystal Katana, and my Teflon bone folder amongst many other things & yes my stacking rectangle, round & square cutting dies. Also my heat gun for my embossing powder, my scoreboard & my Versafine pigment ink, just to name a few.
EVERYTHING you listed is essential in my craft room. I've battled with arthritis since my 20's too. So when I'm really struggling, I use my Sizzix Switch, but mostly use my Big Shot. Started out with the Ellison die cut machine that was heavy. I don't use the same tape runner you use, I use an ATG, but was scrapbooking when I go that, and of course my liquid glue. A lot of these items were game changers for me and just made crafting easier...like a stamp positioner. LOL
Love this video. I have just about everything you have on your list and I agree with you about how necessary they all are. I am also i crafter with arthritis, just diagnosed last month. But I gotta keep crafting so thank you for you tools that make using them easier for people with hand issues! One thing you really have is creativity! Your cards are just amazing!
As for tape I use both the tombow dotted and regular Tom bow runners. They are refillable and easy to use. For liquid glue I use tombow, both all purpose and clear. I like that the all purpose dries tacky so can be used for applying gilding flakes and glitter.
Hi me too which is why I have the scan and cut machine besides having arthritis, tringer fingers and Dupuytren’s contracture. See my reply on here. It is a game changer in more than one way.
Hi Ralph, I agree with everything you chose. They are my essentials too. The only other item I use are dimensional tape. Every now and then a card needs a little something and I found just by added dimension it make my card look so much better! Thank you so much for sharing such a great video.
New subscriber here! Your list of must haves is on point. I am still thinking about the magnetic craft glass since I have the black one. I love the ad tech runners and use it along with all of my other adhesives. Christine
I have been using the fiskar spring action scissors for 13 years for fussy cutting. Those and a pokey tool, glue, electric die cutting machine, dies are a part of my essentials. The list goes on
Thank goodness for the pokey tool! I've got several. So far, I think I like the GinaK version best. It has the pokey tool on one end and wax pickup tool on the other.
But that’s why you get an Scanncut… I still only have the very first version CM100, but… you just scan your stamps… and let the SnC cut whichever size border round them… no need for scissors or cutting dies… 🤗 I also have a BigShot and a Sidekick though too…. And my loved Fiskars Titanium spring assist scissors… and mint…, for all the other jobs I cbb pulling the SnC out for
"Yes, I'm a princess." I totally relate. The only item I don't have is the mint tape. I do love the scissors. I saw them on Simon's videos and how he lived them for fussy cutting. He was correct. Huge difference. I still am not a fan of fussy cutting. But many stamps do not come with the matching die. Thank you for the great video. I enjoy all if yours.
@@yummymellon4058 Don't know if anyone replied ... They might be talking about Simon says Stamp channel he does excellent tutorials about card making ..
I am a craft addict - I have so many different supplies for many different types of crafts, but what's funny is that I have found that many of them work with each other really well!
Hmm must get a Glass mat and A Big Shot as I have the mini one and get frustrated when I see the great dies for bigger machines ! 😁I agree about tape runners ..Thanks
I agree with mostly everything but for me, it's the pointy tweezers! I have several on my desk! I don't hear anyone talking about them but they're a must try! They help place small & big objects on cards without my fingers or long nails (when i have them) getting in the way. I wish I had the Misti Platform . I have Tim Holtz and it has never worked well. I love your videos. Thank you!
Glass craft mat is a must! I have the good ole original Tim Holtz as it was on sale at a local craft store. Stamping tools such as the Misti were a game changer! I absolutely agree with your list. Your at 9 go for 10. Thanks for sharing as this is great for beginners, especially those scissors! ❤️
Great list and good to know. I am new to card making so this helps. I have arthritis, too, so I know what you mean. I think I'll give those scissors a try.
Lol, I'm a craft tool hoarder. I buy almost every new tool. I have had a Big Shot since forever and it is still going strong. However I wanted an electric one so I bought a Gemini Jr. Then Sizzix came out with the Switch and I love sizzix so I bought it. Then, sizzix came out with a rose gold big shot and I had to have it! I have tons of dies and keep buying them lol. Truth is I don't need them bc I recently bought a brother scan n cut. Stamping platforms, I have the misti in both sizes, and a really weird Fiskars one. I have so many trimmers, regular, guillotine, rotary. Stamp pads, all the distress inks and the distress oxides and so many other brands. I have all the Stickles, more embossing pwders and glitters than I will ever need.
I love your videos! And the comments you add in the top corner :) I have never used a stamp setting thingy.. I am old school and only have wooden block stamps. I just haven't made the switch. I also have a cricut which I love but it looks a lot simpler to have the die cutter you have. Thank you for the video and love watching you create!
Well done Ralph! I really liked that you told us about the Bible verse. I am not a religious person however some of my friends are , so I would be able to use that for them! Well done. You were born for this Ralph! So glad you made the change. ❤❤❤❤
Great list! I don’t have a glass mat & I use both liquid glue and double sided tape without the tape runner, but totally agree with all the others. Very informative thanks for sharing
Thanks a lot for sharing your list and your insights into each one of them, Ralph. I need the spring assist scissors for my arthritic fingers. I use all of your other favourites but a couple of other things that I can’t live without are my Tim Holtz paper trimmers (I have both the regular and the mini) and my newest Sizzix scoring board and trimmer tool because I make a lot of custom cards and need envelopes for those. The Sizzix tool has been a game changer for me.
Great video!! Everyone of your must haves is on mine too!! I am one to still use a tape runner for bigger areas and my favorite is Kukoyo brand. I was a scrapbooker for a long time and fell in love with this. The one thing that didn't make your list but is on mine are stencil brushes. I have a TON of different kinds but they are must haves for me.
Where do you buy your brand of tape runner. I was using two that I won’t name and both dryed (?) and lost adhesion before I could mail out the birthday cards I created. I was super disappointed. The thought of mailing someone cards I hand crafted that then fall apart because of inferior glue is a nightmare for me. For now I’m sticking with liquid glue and double sided tape. 😩
I have most of these types of products, some are different brands. I’m definitely going to get the spring assist scissors. I am 43 years old and have systemic Lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. So I feel your pain. I had it in my 20’s but didn’t know that’s what it was. Anyways, I’m also saving up for the glass mat 😊
One other new tool I just purchased is the We rMemory keepers laser square. I have severe astigmatism and lining card fronts, sentiments etc up is almost impossible. This device makes it easy for me to get things straight 😊
I have most on this list, yes on those reverse tweezers, game changer for me! I still need a glass mat and the spring assist scissors. Otherwise I'm pretty well set with all the things. Helpful video :)
Always love your videos. I'm a super brand new stamper/card maker. (I've only made one...kind of). But I'm obsessed with it all. Can't wait for your beginners video! Thank you for this!
Other than the tape runner (I would sub Bearly Art glue) I totally agree. I’m still trying to find good true left handed fussy cutting scissors though. Tonics are close but I don’t care for the serrated edge.
I'm a Bearly Art glue fan, too. Though for large panels, I typically use Scor-Tape. I just put it around the edges and start by only removing the tape from one of the sides. Then, I can maneuver the panel into the right place before committing. Once I have it where I want, I press down where the release paper has been removed. Then, I pull the rest of the release papers off and secure the other three sides. I'm a wee bit anal. 😂
Spot on! I have a plain glass mat, no fancy magnets but it gets the job done. The only other "essential" I'd add is a wax pick up tool. I use mine on almost every project, from applying embellishments to picking up tiny die cuts. Mine seems to be laying forever, just briefly holding a lighter to the tip when it gets icky. TFS!
Yay. I have all of those essential items plus a whole lot more - lol. I also like double sided adhesive sheets for cutting out intricate die’s and background dies
I have all of the above (including the Waffle Flower grip mat for my MISTI). I had been using the Tim Holtz glass mat, but recently changed to the white, magnetic mat. I found with the black glass of the Tim Holtz version, I was constantly getting ink and glue where I didn't want it on my projects because I couldn't see them on the black glass. I didn’t buy the magnets that go with the white glass mat, though. I just use the ones from my MISTI. I had wrapped them with patterned duct tape to make them easier to pull off the MISTI. Now they sit at the side of my glass mat and grab onto my scissors and reverse tweezers when I set them down. 😂 My two main die cutting machines are my Spellbinders Platinum 6 and my Gemini Go. I don't have a large enough desk to put my Platinum 6 so I tend to use the Gemini for most of my small die cuts. The Platinum is on the other side of the room with my Glimmer machine and BetterPress platform. For really large die cuts I have a Big Shot Plus. It's stored off to the side because I don't use it very often.
OMG yes!!! I hardly make cards and yet I can't stop buying supplies! LOL 🙂 I have the cricut joy and I haven't even opened it up to use and i'm out here looking at the Joy Xtra. There is so much crafting supplies out there and I feel I need them all...... ugh lol
I have been card making for almost 30 years and never bought a cricket. I currently own 2 Bigshots (regular and super size) 😊 In my early days I started with a spellbinder machine, which broke quickly. Then I bought a 2nd one which also broke. After that I bought a Sizzix big shot. The Sizzix has lasted me for 20 years! I only change the plates and they last a long time too! I bought a 2nd one to have an extra when crafting with a friend or family member, and also to cut bigger dies, or multiples at the same time- but they both still work fine. I am a big fan of Sizzix machines. I think I was scared of the cricut even though both my sisters owned several between them.
Excited for the beginner videos! I enjoy watching your videos and hope I can find a list of what I need to start my own card making! I am so excited!!! ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
15:23 fellow arthritis patient, and that’s why I love those extremely sharp scissors too 😎🙌🏽 And I know it’s hard being that young and having any kind of arthritis, you are still very young my friend 🤗 my rheumatoid arthritis showed up around the same age as you are now, I’m 53 now and I know that struggle, I’ve had older adults, actual Boomers, tell me I’m too young to have arthritis 😵💫😪🫥 I love your artwork, you make some very cool and beautiful cards 😎🙏🏽
Ralph, can you make a video on the Altenew Stampwheel? I want to see the ways you use it. There's always something new to learn and I'm here for all of it. Thanks in advance!
You're videos make me laugh out loud!!!! Those cartoons (& the crown!) LOL! Thank you for sharing...I have all of these & more. BTW, I feel your pain. I'm a 74 year old arthritic patient as well. It hurts😥
Hi Ralph, all that you mentioned are essential. I have been card making for many years and sometimes I buy too much of a good thing, lol. I have 4 manual die cutting machines and 3 electric ones, a little obsessive, lol😮 The Misti I have the mini and large one. I have thought about getting the spring assist scissors, but I rarely fussy cut!! I also prefer buying stamp and die sets.
You said you were going to sneak in a 9th supply, but I can’t figure out which one you snuck in there. I agree with your list, but there’s a few things on it that I don’t have that I recently put on my list to buy this month. I love your videos, Ralph. You crack me up! keep up the good work, and I wish you’d make a lot more videos, including live videos. I think your live videos would be very entertaining. Lol.
I have it all! Funny, I never noticed that religious "verse" on my Misti pads before you mentioned it & I have all 3 sizes (two of the Original size) since they came out with them. I had to go look to see if it was on mine! It doesn't matter to me about the verse even though I'm not religious because the Misti is my #1 "must have" tool. I found I didn't care for the spring assist scissors. It felt very awkward using them and my wrist didn't like them either. I'm to the point where if I can't get a matching die, I usually don't buy the stamp. Okay, that sounds a little snobbish! LOL
thank you SO much for mentioning the bit about the misti. i feel like everyone has one, and with the new rose quartz colorway, i was tempted and added it to my holiday wishlist. but...i'm jewish, and that tidbit makes me incredibly uncomfortable, so it's coming back off the list. would love to hear about other stamping platforms and your other recommendations :) thanks, ralph!
Of course! That’s exactly why I mention it. The two others platforms I showed in my video are both great options. If space is a concern I’d go with the stamp wheel. The wheel can be a little awkward at first but you get used to it. If you like the ease of a hinge (like the MISTI) and don’t mind the size then go for the Sizzix one!
Hi Ralph. I always love your videos as you are so entertaining. I would love to see a video on the different stamp platforms. The one item I don't have is the spring assisted scissors. Fussy cutting always hurt my hands ✋️. Yvonne
Some of those are on my christmas wish list. Like the stamping platform. I'm just getting into making cards that are not full of tiny pieces cut on my cricut. Its an expensive hobby though especially when lots of the things i want are from USA and the postage is a killer for some of it.
Absolutely agree with the Adtech tape runner being the best-I’ve been making cards for years and I have tried Many tape runners as well. My favorite die brand is Spellbinders. They were the first and the quality of their dies are just a bit better than most others. I’m looking into the Misti and appreciate the heads up about the religious stuff. Maybe I’ll try the stamp wheel. Thanks for all the great videos!
I would love to see your favorite ink pads for different uses and how you store dies/stamps and how you clean them☺
I can’t live without my cutting/scoring board. I was crafting before I got one & omg night & day !!!!

I love your videos, Ralph! You're a breath of fresh air!
Have them all. Love them all. Would not be without them. EVER 🙋♀️ 20 year crafter!
My first of your videos. It was great! Thx!
MISTI Stamp Platform, Tim Holtz Glass Mat, Scotch Advance Tape Glider (ATG), Art Institute Glitter Glue, TH Distress Ink Pads, Big Shot Die Cutting Platform, Versamark Embossing Ink, and my Wagner Heat gun.
I feel like that all the time. I always say I’m not going to buy anything new and then something new comes out and there I go.
Excellent, very helpful video for all crafters of any level… we can always pick something up from someone else’s experience… THankYou for sharing😍

I bought this even though I have a Silhouette machine. That ScanNCut has paid for itself because I never buy matching dies to stamps.

Needles work for me. I’m primarily a seamstress so have all that stuff 😂. My fabric stash is epic!

Find someone who looks at you like Ralph gazes upon his reverse tweezers. 😂😂
Stamping platform and die cutting machine for sure!
Well done Ralph! I really liked that you told us about the Bible verse. I am not a religious person however some of my friends are , so I would be able to use that for them! Well done. You were born for this Ralph! So glad you made the change. ❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much for including the Sizzix Big Shot in your round-up! We tend to agree it's a must-have ;) xx
I had two cricut machines and got rid of them in favour of keeping my bigshot😁
After watching Ralph's video's I'm excited to order my own big shot 😊
I purchased the glass mat a few months ago (using your discount code, thank you!) and I agree it is a game changer. I looove it.
SO glad you love it! And thanks for using my code 🙂
I, too, got RA at 30. I hope you have found a good treatment!❤
I love reverse tweezers and spring action scissors for the same reasons as you. 😊
Please yes! A platform comparison would be much appreciated.
I’ll see what I can do!
One other new tool I just purchased is the We rMemory keepers laser square. I have severe astigmatism and lining card fronts, sentiments etc up is almost impossible. This device makes it easy for me to get things straight 😊
So glad to hear that! I have one of those myself though unfortunately the laser in mine is a tad crooked…maybe why mine was at the resale store 😂
Thank you for this!
welcome to the cult! uh...i mean family :)
@@ralphtyndall😂😂😂
Other than the tape runner (I would sub Bearly Art glue) I totally agree. I’m still trying to find good true left handed fussy cutting scissors though. Tonics are close but I don’t care for the serrated edge.
Spring assist scissors changed my fussy-cutting life! All great picks. I’d swap your tape runner for my Bearly Art liquid glue.
Fair! If I weren’t so impatient I might too. I still love my liquid glue though!
Scoreboard is a must for me!
I feel so cool that almost all of these are also MY must haves!!
Luv the Bible verse Ralph…one reason to help me decide to buy it 👏👏👏
Yes.The adhesive sheets were high on my list as well! So hard to choose a few without making the video two hours long 😂
Love my MISTIs and use them all of the time. I use my Big Shot on every card. Your list is great!
I am so surprised you didn’t highlight your folder thing! I always love seeing you use it. It’s so simple but I am intrigued. 😉
So excited for you to start!
Super helpful for me as I’m at the very beginning - haven’t even made my first card yet. Thank you!
You’ll be a pro in no time!
15:23 fellow arthritis patient, and that’s why I love those extremely sharp scissors too 😎🙌🏽
And I know it’s hard being that young and having any kind of arthritis, you are still very young my friend 🤗 my rheumatoid arthritis showed up around the same age as you are now, I’m 53 now and I know that struggle, I’ve had older adults, actual Boomers, tell me I’m too young to have arthritis 😵💫😪🫥
I love your artwork, you make some very cool and beautiful cards 😎🙏🏽
Every single item is on my must have list.
🙌🏼🙌🏼
Ralph, can you make a video on the Altenew Stampwheel? I want to see the ways you use it. There's always something new to learn and I'm here for all of it. Thanks in advance!
You're videos make me laugh out loud!!!! Those cartoons (& the crown!) LOL! Thank you for sharing...I have all of these & more. BTW, I feel your pain. I'm a 74 year old arthritic patient as well. It hurts😥
Haha! I’m glad you liked the crown. I just had to do it.
Hi Ralph, all that you mentioned are essential.
I have been card making for many years and sometimes I buy too much of a good thing, lol.
I have 4 manual die cutting machines and 3 electric ones, a little obsessive, lol😮
The Misti I have the mini and large one.
I have thought about getting the spring assist scissors, but I rarely fussy cut!! I also prefer buying stamp and die sets.
Haha you beat me! I have too many die cutting machines myself 😅
LOL
Hahaha! Not snobbish, you just know your boundaries lol.
Great video. Thank you for sharing 😊🤗
I have all on this list, some different manufacturers but same principles. Love you humor Ralph.
Appreciate the comment about the Bible verse. That would be a factor in my decision.
thank you SO much for mentioning the bit about the misti. i feel like everyone has one, and with the new rose quartz colorway, i was tempted and added it to my holiday wishlist. but...i'm jewish, and that tidbit makes me incredibly uncomfortable, so it's coming back off the list. would love to hear about other stamping platforms and your other recommendations :) thanks, ralph!
I have been looking for a “how to” video. 😊 thank you so much for doing this one, very informative 😁
Hi Ralph. I always love your videos as you are so entertaining. I would love to see a video on the different stamp platforms. The one item I don't have is the spring assisted scissors. Fussy cutting always hurt my hands ✋️. Yvonne
Sizzix Big Shot is my #1, 2- Misti, 3 Gina K Master Layouts,
Some of those are on my christmas wish list. Like the stamping platform. I'm just getting into making cards that are not full of tiny pieces cut on my cricut. Its an expensive hobby though especially when lots of the things i want are from USA and the postage is a killer for some of it.
Я не знаю английский. Но хочу сказать, что у Вас потрясающие и красивые подделки, они покорили моё сердце ❤
Thank you. You named all of mine too
Absolutely agree with the Adtech tape runner being the best-I’ve been making cards for years and I have tried Many tape runners as well. My favorite die brand is Spellbinders. They were the first and the quality of their dies are just a bit better than most others. I’m looking into the Misti and appreciate the heads up about the religious stuff. Maybe I’ll try the stamp wheel. Thanks for all the great videos!
It’s just so smooth!! No other glides quite like it lol.
