I don't usually care to get too deep into fan based/extended universe ST stuff, but this thing is friggin' gorgeous.
Jake Meyer I usually don’t care care for these kind of preconceived biases but you pulled through!
@@GCGBill touche', good sir, touche'!
IKR!
Registry?
Bill Krause is a genius. His work takes my breath away. His evolution of the classic Enterprise design is the best I've ever seen. Bravo! 👏👏👏
This is an absolutely gorgeous ship! The double-neck actually reminded me of the Akira design, more than anything else, and I could see this as a bridge from the NX-01 to the Akira, as this is VERY much like the refit NX-01 Enterprise with the added secondary hull. Beyond that ... the model building skills are AMAZING! I've seen many scratch-builds, but few with this level of detail and quality. This looks like a shooting model for the series.
To bad this wasn't Discovery... But I would be very happy to see this ship appear in any Star Trek movie or TV series.
I LOVE the look of the ship. This is the best design I've seen in a long time.
It seems these fans and model makers are actually surpassing the main creative types who work on the Trek shows and movies.
Looks far more pleasing than that ugly @$$ Discovery.
If this was in STO, I would definitely be commanding that ship. What a beauty.
Just please don't make it a science vessel,to many science vessels lately,my tac toon doesn't like it at all...still can't get over Somerville being a sci ship T.T(althou I do get why it is one)
pls make it a tactical, too many good ship designs in engineering and science
Miracle Worker material.
Said it before in another forum, and I'll say it again -- Krause does absolutely GORGEOUS work, and Endurance is a masterpiece! :) This ship says Trek / Starfleet to me more than the overwhelming majority of the hulls trotted out in the DISCOverse.
Cap & Commander - I am 9 days late but be that as it may this is fantastic! Completely a Star Trek vibe and it is gorgeous to boot! I love everything about this ship and it is very sexy and sleek looking as well as commanding respect and acknowledging true power! Everything about this guy and his vision is definitely top notch and just fantastic! Thank you both for sharing this great video and great design.
I absolutely love this ship! This has got to be one of my favorite Star Trek ships ever, canon or non-canon. Beautiful ship.
Beautiful ship, I love every angle of it, I loved it the first time I saw it. Just incredible.
This is just one beautiful design. Everything about it screams beauty, power, and a well thought out design.
As always, please continue making it so 🖖
I could see the croossfield class evolving to this and it also hints voyager here and there. Luxurious.
I love this ship. Great lines, and profile. He did a fantastic job. Just...WOW!!
This guy's modeling skills are fire!
If this was the aesthetic of the DIS visual reboot, I would've been so happy.
That is one of the best Star Trek Ships I have ever seen
This is beautiful. I want this to be the main ship of a new series.
That guy has incredible talent. One of the best looking ships I have seen in a very long time.
One of the most impressive designs around, puts the Discovery tv show designs to shame. Endurance is a stunning starship, I love the nacelle design, the aircraft fuselage inspiration is so nicely done, also incorporating air intakes, and the bussard collectors shaped like propeller spinners. I get a Curtiss P-40 Kittyhawk and perhaps a little bit of Spitfire with the Vokes filters vibe there. Brilliant job.
They are directly inspired by the P-38 Lightning
Your friend needs to submit his design to be included into STO yesterday, seriously. Deliciously lovely design. Very powerful, elegant and so many other adjectives that have been and probably will be used by other commenters. Just..wow..I'm so jealous of his skill.
I like it. I especially like the dual neck set up. Kinda what I'd prefer for the Odyssey with the gap and neck. I always felt it went too thin. I can see this posted up as a research vessel. As big as it is it would serve well as a temporary station for said research.
I love this design. It's what "could have been" if TOS had a larger budget for more sophisticated SFX.
I got a Voyager feel out of this, just with rigid angles rather than curves.
Voyager is one of my favorite ships, so I really like this one!
Yeah tough neck, high structural integrity, nothing to dislike here, That's a good little ship.
This would make a spectacular 'USS Discovery', in the canon universe...
Makes you wonder what might have been.
@Space AIDs Discovery spent an entire season undoing, retconning, or explaining away everything in the first season and season 3 will likely do the exact same thing.
@Space AIDs I'm more saying Discovery Season 1 was so bad they're doing their best to erase it from canon.
The lines feel too clean for a TOS prequel. Ship design was more clunky and "realistic" in this period. Not saying this isn't a gorgeous ship, but it just doesn't look right for the STD time frame.
A beautiful ship! I look forward to hearing about the Hood as well!
Coolest ship I've ever seen! This ship needs to be the flagship for a TV series!
@trekyards would definitely be interested in more seeing more work from Mr. Krause 😊
Endurance looks like someone had taken the original specifications for the Constitution-class, and submitted them to an Andorian shipyard instead of Utopia Planitia. This is a really cool design. I especially like the large and very functional looking shuttlebay. I also appreciate that it looks to be scaled right. There's just too much size creep in most fans works for my tastes.
Love the nacelles remind me of early generation jet fuselage with the air intakes.
P-38 Lightning.
Exactly
This ship is gorgeous - one of the most striking concept ships you guys have ever had on your channel. Well done
Chad Landman Wow! Thanks.
This design aesthetic brings one of two in-universe possibilities to mind. 1) This is a very late TOS-era design leading into the TMP-era's aesthetic. Being more experimental, some features were kept when the TMP aesthetic really came into its own, while others were abandoned for one reason or another. The more TOS and DISC looking features like the domes and lights on the nacelles seem to point to this. Or 2) This is an early bridge between the TMP-era and the Lost Era. Maybe there was a bit of design nostalgia involved, where Starfleet designers decided to try updating the TOS look for a new century, mixing that with clear TMP design cues drawn from the Excelsior and its contemporaries, as well as a few aesthetic differences that seem to look ahead to the Ambassador and even Galaxy class starships, like the saucer-based shuttle bay, the wider, more horizontally stretched-looking secondary hull, and the rough shape of the deflector.
Personally I'm leaning more toward it being a late-TOS design. I think that's more likely given the overall look of the ship. And if that is the case, then perhaps the few similarities to Lost Era and TNG-era flagships is a result of designers from those eras looking back to this one for inspiration, rather than representing a clear linear progression.
man its hard enough to do this in 3D, but to make a real model like this... this man has some exceptional skills.
It's awesome. The design. The Build. Bravo.
still can't believe this is a model. amazing, talented.
Bill is an artist! All his ship are amazing!!!
Joshua, thanks! Except that one though. But 9 out of 10 ain’t bad...
Man!!!! This is one gorgeous ship guys. Wow!!! The man is a visionary.
The two giant shuttle bays are perfect. The Essex was an aircraft carrier in WW2. And later became an amphibious assault helo carrier.
Very beautiful ship!! In fact, one of the most beautiful I've seen.
Hi, Mr. German is a very much improved design but the Nebula class is a tad better.
I think the MachoGrande class is a tiny bit better.
I totally agree!
That's a very fancy starship! I like everything about it!
That is a beautiful design and I absolutely love it. Very robust yet sleek. The lines down the side make me think of racing stripes.
Very damn nice. Someone needs to offer this man a job.
6:30 I _thought_ those nacelles looked familiar! Take a look at the P-38 Lightning and put some propellers on the bussards - definitely see the resemblance.
All in all, I like this design and now have to check this gentleman out for other designs.
Bill is now. Radiant Class . Hello from 2022 :)
That's a cool ship. It could fit easily in the TMP era, 2290s, and also the late 2390s, a century later. The nacelles have a JJ look, but done better, and the double neck is kind of neat. Very much Discovery inspired though. If it had the pinstriping and the hull lettering on the sides of the saucer, which is also like STO, it would fit in there also.
The nacelles were clearly inspired by the P-38
I am a huge fan of Bill Krauss both as a designer, model builder, and just a decent human being.
Scott Ferriss Thanks Scott! That was a very decent compliment!
Absolutely gorgeous and i think by far my favorite as of now
I'm in agreement with DanThePlasicMan. This model should be submitted to STO at least. Too bad CBS is too greedy to hire people that actually have passion for the projects instead of stepping on them...
I agree with Capt. Foley the overall design is very much improved.
One of the best looking versions I have seen yet.
I like the angled Disco vibe combined with the sleek, clean post DS-9 design
This guy should be designing for one of the tv shows...
Love it. What time index did you tell the specs. Crew numbers and warp speed and stuff like that I missed it some how
So glad I found you guys...amazing work and great job on the vid!!!
Amazing model work. Really like the internals of the bussard collectors.
Cryptic should hire this guy to make ships for STO, IMO. As far as not liking something about it, there really isn't anything, *but* there is one thing I'd add, and that would be to make the Photon Torpedo launchers into a paired system that fires both forward and aft-ward. I mean, they are in the gap between the necks, so they should have the clearance to do it.
Man! She. Is. *Gorgeous!*
He could give *Eaglemoss,* a *very serious,* run for their *money!*
*I would pay, MAJOR SHEKELS, to OWN, a COUPLE of THESE!*
Hey! *Please. KEEP. TABS. on THIS. GUY!* If he should ever, EVER. decide to start selling this beauty. *I want to be put on the buyer's list!*
It's a year worth of work.... even at poverty rates I doubt you would be willing to pay a fair price lol.
To me this ship is a perfect combination of startrek design in one!
The creativity of Star Trek fans never ceases to amaze me.,
🖖😎👍A very cool and nice looking starship indeed and it looks like a ship that you would want to be on in a battle scenario that would hold up very well to whoever it's faced up against and much more survivable, Any ways you guys as always have done a great job on informatively explaining and executing everything about this vessel indeed 👌.
Ah, one of my favorite fan vessels!
MainBlag Banner Nice! One of favorite fan comments!
I know it's 18 months since this was relevant, but I just have to say I LOVE those nacelles, like a Spitfire filtered through a hot-rod.
Lovely design, elegant layout and can I say it? DAMM, he has some serious skill and talent.
That is some serious impressive design and model building skill! Better than anything the STD designers have come up tbh.
I really like this Endurance Class ship from Bill Krause. Another ship design I like is Eric Henry's NX-07 Prospect.
Please look at more Bill Krause designs. What a beautiful ship!
What a beautiful ship. I want one for my flagship
OOH, she's a beauty of a starship. Damn that's nice.
I do see a interesting mix between TOS and TMP (and Kelvinprise): round and with a curve roundoff lengthwise, with a oval cross-section added to it like a TMP nacelle would be. Fascinating
I LOVE THIS SHIP! So beautiful! Just a beauty!
The lower hull shape and details remind me of the Catalina PBY lower hull. 10:37
Its a beautiful model and some great photography work. I love the double twin neck, and the necelles, really cool design.
looks great. imagine this be the ship of picard
thats one cool looking ship
Think this is one of the most amazing ships lve seen to date. Love the design and some of it reminds me of art deco from the ram scoops to the lines underneath the ship, it just looks amazing 👍
That's one badass looking starship!
Really enjoyed this. Looking forward to more.
I like the WWII-esc double-bubble hull style of the engines.
Wow I love this! It’s like the Crossfield of the future!
One of the best designs I’ve seen in years. Eaglemoss get on it!
Awesome ship...love it . Very Star Trek.
Slap some enterprise E nacelles on that and it would make a good fleet ship for Piccard
Awesome design. The double necks would provide for a more survivable structure than a single spindly one like on the Constitution-class ships. If Khan had been intent on just killing Kirk and crew them continuous fire on the refit's neck would have left either section a vulnerable target for easy pickings. One thing that I would change about this design would be to elevate the nacelles up just enough so as to completely cover the neck for even more robust protection.
The Discovery that should have been. What a ship!
Sorta like a Excelsior saucer, NX neck and Voyager secondary hull all had a baby. I like it. Much bigger than I thought it was.
My gosh.....the USS Hood is perfect
As someone who's always liked the Decatur/Belknap design, I associate this ship with that more so than with Disco. I also think its aesthetics are more between JJ and Disco than TOS and Disco, but I also think it works. Maybe not as set the same era as Disco (immediate pre-TOS or TOS), I see this as transitioning OUT of the flat-nacelle era, back into round nacelles, say somewhere between the Excelsior and the (TNG) Ambassador-class? The Excelsior nacelle design seems to be difficult to put on other ships -- and with transwarp's failure, who would want to? -- so alternatives would be needed.
That is super pretty. Holy Cow. Looks like a good inbetween TOS and TNG
It feels like the NX, Intrepid, and Kelvin Timeline Enterprise had a transporter accident.
LadyVader1138 Does it?
It actually does. lol
And you’ve witnessed such an event?
@@GCGBill ....yes...
Uh huh...
This ship is beast! Please put this in the game.
This ship, with a few modifications (i.e. making the navigational deflector look like an updated version on the NX-01), is what the Discovery *_should_* have been.
This is what Discovery should have looked like. This ship looks amazing! I would love to see this on the small screen, big screen or STO. I know I'm ready to spend $30 on this magnificent looking ship. Looking forward to seeing more of his work. The USS Hood also looks fantastic. Captain you have an insider at STO if I remember correctly. Would be awesome if you could hook him up with them and getting him to start designing ships for the game. With this and the other ones from the scale shot, wow incredible work. The designs are elegant yet aggressive. They really feel like they belong to the Star Trek Universe. My hat off to him.
It really doesn't address most of the complaints people seem to have though, its larger than the Enterprise and the fans have somehow decided the Enterprise was the largest ship of it's time, it looks very modern compared to the TOS timeframe. Its nacelles break "the rule" about exposure etc. The truth is, people will always be more kind to a fan design than an official design. This ship could have literally been exactly what they did and they would still caught as much flack. They caught flback for the D back in the day lol.
I have no desire to address other people’s complaints about other’s design work. I simply build what inspires me and infuse as much of what I like using a similar design lineage.
@@GCGBill I love the designs. They are truly amazing and just seem to work. Nothing against those who work on the Discovery designs, but it just doesn't feel like Star Trek at all. From what I understand USS Discovery is an experimental ship and this design feels like an experimental canon inspired ship. Kudos for this. The Hood looks awesome too!
I loved watching this build... Though I have a love hate thing with this design, I appreciate the skills 100%. And I kind of find myself liking it more everytime I see it. The nacelle position is the only thing I can't get over. They're just too low. A wee higher. But that's my preference. And of course that's a good German name to go with the stereotype of fine engineering! ;)
Patrick Ivan the nacelles were designed and intended to be about 3/8” higher so that the Bussards just touched the bottom edge of the primary as seen from the front. The transparent swoop on the nacelles however, intersected the pylons which made me make a last minute decision to drop them a bit.
No offense to the incredible John Eaves but I think Bill Krause’s cleaner style works so much better for Pre-TOS/TOS era.
His designs look modern and futuristic yet don’t lose the retro sleekness of the 60s.
Absolutely gorgeous! The nacelles are sweet and definitely are Stmp era. If they were styled more to the e era style the rest of the ship would still be relevant. Basically it's a timeless design that again is beautiful.
Trevor McCaughrean A timeless and gracious comment. Thanks so much!
@@GCGBill your welcome, it is all true. I do love this
It's a GOOD looking ship!
That's is so beautiful... amazing star ship ❤❤
I love the see through ramscoops with the red tinted "glass" a nice call back to tos. But i dont like the way the name (Endurance) is placed on the back. It doesnt follow the shape and angle of the back pieces. But beyond that just an awesome job.
P.s. the bottom part of the ship looks like a good place to put two shuttle bays. Cause two isnt near enough haha.
Gary Palmer The registry on the stern plate does follow the angled geometry perpendicular to the hull. Aligning the lettering parallel to the hangar deck edge was an option I choose not to pursue as it meant distorting each character.
@@GCGBill that makes sense. Why add to your work load if you don't have to and you dont like it either.
This. Is. Amazing!!! The more I looked the more I appreciated. Every time you switched to a new angle I found something made me say ohhh nice touch or just wow. Not big fan of all the live stream stuff, though I understand why you do it, but this video is what I love the most about Trek Yards 👍👍
Colby Marin thanks Colby! I try to jam-pack as much visual interest into every nook and cranny. Sometimes, intentionally!
This is Awesome! Such a cool thing, so detailed and amazing.
To me this looks like a 24th century version of the new Mustang or Camaro. Like somebody decided to ape the look for earlier late 22nd/early 23rd century ships with a few classic nods like the nacelle ends but with the more modern aesthetic throughout the rest.
