Information is useful. BUT. You should use wire cutters, not a knife to cut the wire. It would be far better to solder the wires together, not just twist them. And the point of heatshrink sleeve is that you need to heat it for it to shrink.
I was really worried about breaking the switch cover while taking it off, and the video does not explain. There are two tabs in the middle of the back face of the cover that sit underneath two ledges on the base unit to stop the cover from coming off. So you need to lever the back face of the cover horizontally backwards to free the cover.
The video shows only the left side (on offf switch cover) removal It does not show the right side charging indicator panel cover's removal nor how to isolate the power source.

Yes or you can use a lighter.
or gently pass the soldering iron over it, let the ambient heat do its stuff. Dont touch it with the iron though
