Hi, the main difference between the two versions is scale (size and weight). For me, I prefer the regular size Bushcrafter. I think it is more practical, offers more blade control and will do almost everything the Bushcrafter II will do. Having said that some people just prefer a larger blade. Respectfully
Hi, they are two different designs. The AS Mountaineer has a substantial point for piercing and probing, whereas the BR Bushcrafter II has a standard point. The Bushcrafter has a scandivex grind, whereas the Mountaineer has a full-height convex grind. The Bushcrafter has shoulders, whereas the Mountaineer does not. The BR is a semi-custom knife. The AS is a fully custom knife. Comfort and ergonomics are excellent on both knives. They both have a solid feel in the hand. Both makers produce premium quality knives. The BR is more cost effective. The AS is more expensive. Both knives are difficult to find, but AS is more difficult to acquire and can only be obtained by submitting a custom order if the books are open. If I were to choose a knife solely for bushcraft purposes, I would probably choose the Mountaineer or BR Aurora. If I were to choose a cross-over blade, I would probably choose the Bushcrafter or Springbok. I’m sure the knife you choose will be the right one for you. All the best, respectfully
Do you actually use any of your knives or just hold them in front of a camera? I would like to see them put to use. I found no useful info in any of the videos. Beautiful looking knives though.
BR makes great knives, but their version of a bushcrafter too general multi purpose. A bushcraft is used for carving wood. They need to make one with .9" tall .125" thick and 4.3" long spec. Love the quality and CPM3V offering from Bark River but their bushcraft is more of a general purpose survival knife not a bomb proof wood crafting knife. If they would add a neutral handle and a exposed pommel and BR would kill the rest of the market in my opinion.
Hi, I like to carry many different compact fixed blades. I would say that Ultra-Lite Bushcrafter is a very good knife. It is noticeably lighter and more nibble than the Essential. I would describe the Essential as a high-end gentleman’s fixed blade and the Ultra-Lite Bushcrafter as more of a utilitarian knife. The Mini Bushcrafter is the smallest, lightest and perhaps the most practical of the three for a fixed everyday carry blade. In the correct sheath, the Mini Bushcrafter is barely noticeable. I listed the specs below so you may deliberate and compare. Respectfully Bark River Essential - Overall Length: 6.2 inches, Blade Length: 2.8 inches, Blade Steel: CPM M-4, Grind: Convex with swedge and fullers, Blade Thickness: .141 or 3.5 mm, Weight: 4.6 or 129 grams. Ultra-Lite Bushcrafter - Overall Length: 7.4 inches, Blade Length: 3.25 inches, Blade Steel: CPM3V, Grind: Convex-Scandi, Blade Thickness: .090 inches or 2.3 mm, Weight: 2.7 ounces or 76 grams. Mini Bushcrafter - Overall Length: 6 inches, Blade Length: 2.7 inches, Blade Steel: CPM3V, Grind: Convex-Scandi, Blade Thickness: .085 inches or 2.1 mm, Weight: 1.6 ounces or 45 grams.
One of the most beautiful set of knives ever made. Thanks for showing
Beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I’ve owned several BR knives and they are outstanding.
I am more old school myself. Therefore I prefer leather. Beautiful sheath setups. Thanks so much for sharing those!

have you ever used Bark River Ringtail?
No, I do not own that particular model. It's a nice little knife, but not my style.
Do you Ever actually use these knives or do they just sit in a drawer as part of your collection.
